That's stupid. Isn't the point of slang to shorten the word into an easier form, not elongate it and add syllables?

There's a point to slang? I think slang normally is just defined as non-standard vocabulary.

The stiq is better anyways. It gives it it's own feel and it's not hard to do. I would hate for that game to feel like SF or something.

My issue is you can't change the directional anymore. I prefer using up and down to move toward and away from your opponent (as in Setup 6 on FNR3) Can't do it anymore, and I am having trouble getting used to the original (Setup 1 on FNR3)

I HATE using TPC, imo its a POS. And anyone who thinks ppl who use the face buttons are 'button mashers', think again. At least when you use the buttons you KNOW what punch you are going to throw. With this messed up system, you know which side you are going to throw but your punch is almost completely random, and thowing any sort of combination is completely f'd up.

Ima play my freashly torrented copy with a few friends, no plans on buying this until its patched.

I personally love the FN series and i thought FNR3 was absoultey amazing. it was really the forst ps3 game to show how good the graphics can really be. When they announced FNR4 i preordered it right away but then i heard that you can only fight with the analog stick, i went and got my money back. I loved the fact in the previous FN games that u could fight with the face buttons, and when this feature wasnt included in the FNR4 i was disguested. Now that they're talking about charging for it, i think EA just lost a long time FN fan and im sure im not the only one

@Filter-
I've never had a problem using TPC. I really like it compared to the button mappings. If you deal with the learning curve (it isn't huge) you can really set up some sweet combinations and feel like you're controlling them as opposed to hitting A,B,X etc.

Cheers,
Darius

I agree with JS Beckerist. I hate not being able to change the directional control. I was used to pushing up to go forward and back to go back. It should be just like the punch control: Left for a left punch on the right stick, and Left to move left on the left stick. Not left to move backwards!!!

the sticks are amazing on this game. If they did add face button controls I would hope it is done with a patch, or comes with a crap-load of content on that DLC not just buttons.

I hope they don't charge for a feature that is most likely already on the disc. EA don't do it.

DLC is a fantastic feature... It's just too bad developers won't use it right. I think it was Skate 2 that had some DLC that made you unlock everything in the game, and that is a good example on how to abuse this feature.

Skate 2 also had proper DLC which was a new place to skate.

All EA products have that sort of crap.

I do agree though.

Goes to show the difference in approach when your company is publicly owned. The worse Bethesda/ZeniMax had was horse armor. They seemed to learn their lesson quickly after that.

I don't see why everyone bitches about DLC to unlock everything.

If someone is that stupid to pay for something but are too lazy or suck too much and don't want to improve and PLAY the GAME hey already paid $60 for. By all means, go for it EA, rape the dumbasses. As long as they don't FORCE us to pay for something already on the disc *cough*CapcomResidentEvil5*cough* I'm fine with it

@MrKlorox "Too bad you're probably too young to remember the first, pauseless, Mortal Kombat." Not everyone played Mortal Kombat, let alone liked it well enough to even figure out that there was no pause system. (You don't pause that often in a fighting game, and if you don't like the game you won't keep playing it) So I didn't see any point why you had to bring up this guys age even though you have no idea who he is.

Of course, how silly of me. I didn't mean "too young to remember"... I mean anybody can emulate the game now. By that sense, I remember the Civil War via history class.

What I meant was "too young to remember when it came out." Excuse my absurd mistake.

But in the end you're right. I was just lashing out in anger. Ignorance makes me angry.

I understood perfectly and his points are valid. Button mashing is more responsive than stick twiggling. Too bad there aren't enough face buttons to match the number of inputs/gestures you can get from an analog stick. If there was, it would have been in the initial launch. Now watch them gimp it.

Yeah same here.
I played the game, and while its alright, the analog stick doesn't register half of what I do, so it just becomes a jab after a jab for me, which started annoying me when I'm trying to do a few punches quickly.
And I've watched my friend just mash one direction on the stick and win fights, it isn't going to be that bad to add in a button.

If you can't get the stick to do what you want, you're not doing it right. It's that simple. As it is, everybody is an a level playing field. With button based punches, that will change. Hopefully they segregate the users online.

The DLC would make it an OPTION not a requirement. What the fuck is wrong with an option? Why do you care how people prefer to map their controls? There are a million reasons why someone might want to map their controls (from injuries to personal preference), but it still remains that if it's an option and not a requirement then it doesn't matter if they have a reason or not.

@Reader: Why? Same reason it's not a good idea to let PC players take on console players at the same time. It's all about control response on an even playing field. All will be okay as long as you can choose what type to play online and don't have to worry about button mashers interfering with your progress with their cheap shots.

"Now, we're somewhat confused as to why the button-mapping options featured in previous Fight Night titles aren't already present in the most recent iteration of the sweetly scientific sim -- not everyone appreciates the stick-based punching control scheme."

The answer is simple. There are more punches in R4 due to the requisite to keep it on the stick (with modifiers). There aren't enough buttons to match the number of input commands the stick is capable of.
