Mass Effect, like Kotor 1 and 2, is one of the few games that is more fun to play for the second and third time. Or the 27th. (Okay, I only played Kotor 1 14 times, but I wanted to try for fastest playthrough while completing as much as possible.)

They should ditch the Kotor MMO and move on to Kotor III. I feel for the Shenmue fans...

Is this just an issue of continuity? So why not make it so only non-new game+ ME2 saves can be transferred to ME3?

New game + is fun, there are better ways to solve this than just not giving players the option at all.

IMO it'll be okay aslong as I can use my first charcter twice so I dont need to make a new one. As in Take a ME1 Character playthrough once paragon in ME2, then take the me1 character over in a new save and play through renegade so I can see both sides of the coin without carrying a new character, I get kinda attached to a character even when maxed, which is what ends up happening when I play the sims.

Could be a lot worse. If it were Bethesda, they'd require you to have a save around from before the big PONR (point of no return) event.

A second play-through was pretty much required to get all the achievements in Mass Effect 1. I assume the achievements will be skewed towards being able to accomplished in one play-though this time. Or at least, one play-though per character.

Well, I don't care how they do it. I just want the game :-D

as long as they dont add achievos like reaching level 50 or 60 that arent possible to reach in one playthru we should be fine.. like Misfit Toy said 'i just want the game'

Damn it joystiq, you guys really neglected to mention one important fact, that you'll be able to keep playing the game with your character after you have reached the ending.

It's kind of shitty to report that Bioware are getting rid of a feature and then neglect to mention that they going to replace it with a new one.

Other blogs like Dest ructoid and Hazardspell mentioned it, why can't you. Maybe if you didn't rip off Kotaku all the time.

Goddammit.

On a side note, I can't wait for ME2, it's going to be the shit.

Then go read those blogs, dipshit. Nobody wants cares that you think that Joystiq rips off Kotaku. Twat.

WTF? This is a stupid idea. With the technolgy that they have I'm sure they could program ME3 to take off after your gamesave from the first play-through of ME2. First they don't allow you to upload your leveled up character from part 1, now you can't even level up a new character? I understand them wanting to have a smooth transition for part 3, but hell, atleast let us level up a guy and then you can take him away again for part 3. Playing though ME1 countless times leveling up your character is one of the main-reasons its so entertaining. Besides, I don't like exploring every single nook-and-cranny on my first play-through. I like my first playthough, to be streamlined so I can enjoy main the story. THEN, I like to go explore every single nook-and-cranny. "Feel free to create a new character and start over"......whatever you say dude.

People wait a second and think about it: if they say they won't allow it for continuity issues could it mean that the rumors of Sheppards possible demise in the end of ME2 are true? :o

It's not a rumor, it was said at e3 that Shepard could die in ME2 and the game continues on without him.

Well I'm not happy about this really. One of the biggest reasons I even played through Mass Effect again was to level up Shepard, and be able to go through it without having to start over again. I guess it won't be a big deal though if you can reach the max level with one play through. Though I grew pretty attached to my Infiltrator after 3 play throughs.

So in ME3, Shepard will have ''played'' with all the alien chicks?
