I dunno why, but I can imagine Billy Mays shouting (a.k.a. promoting) this deal. If only he were still alive.

My calculations show that one celebrity must die to even the rage of whoever has enough power to kill such people (Kotick, you bastard!!!). I hope Axl Rose isn't next; say what you will about his personality (you're probably wrong either way though, you don't know him and he isn't exactly Jon&Kate), but the day his voice goes away is the day whiny bitch/whiny tree-trunk necked hacks star filling up everywhere, not just in the emo-y scream thing. NOW I SHALL MAKE THIS RELEVANT

The track list isn't that great, regardless how much they charge. They seem to be unable to find music with a coherent message/meaning/reference that is also challenging to play.

Stunning deal, can you still order it from the UK? As Amazon.co.uk's price is still £150, rather than the £55 on that deal. Very tempting.

"the tiny little things that aren't Rock Band"

Like a setlist made of whine and fail? There's maybe a handful of songs in WT I'd voluntarily play more than once.

That said this isn't a bad deal just for the instruments alone.

The setlist has some amazing songs like Beat It, Crazy Train, Prisoner of Society, Mr. Crowley, Hot for Teacher, Pull Me Under, Satch Boogie, Do It Again, Freak on a Leash, Hotel California, Santeria, Purple Haze, Schism, Trapped Under Ice.

But, Guitar Hero World Tour did have quite a bit of filler (Well, "world" songs). Alot more filler than RB2, and the repeats didn't help either (I don't blame WT for the repeats, though, they both licensed the songs at the same time, and they got the short end of the stick by coming out a month later.

In my opinion, they should have given the songs to local indie artists in the USA, and then for the Euro version, they put the European songs. Then the Europeans can purchase our indie songs as DLC, and we can purchace the European songs as DLC in the states. That would be pure Win-Win.

Nah. I learned my lesson with GH3. Harmonix took the magic. Neversoft is just a bad facsimile shop.

You're missing out then. Neversoft has really improved their charting, and the interface of the game has gotten significantly better on GH: Metallica engine(I call it the World Tour 1.5 engine). And this is coming from a guy who has 126 DLC songs on Rock Band.

Rock Band has the better engine and "platform", but Guitar Hero is still fun, and I think that is what matters. I'll be buying The Beatles: Rock Band and Guitar Hero 5 this fall. Both look very great so far.

You are an insane person. But I appretiate your dedication to the genre. I'm RB only. I can only deal with one set of instruments and DLC. Parties don't do well with switching setups. Its hard enough to get it all going as it is.

Beatles RB will make me make that exception, though. People will love it.

Anything that restarts the game is a problem. DJ's don't stop for 5 minutes. Rock Band doesn't either. Getting the right guitar and the right side, songs loaded, settings enabled, profiles selected etc is all a hassle. In fact, I'd like RB to be even MORE dummy. Maybe even prevent anyone but the singer from choosing if desired. Its hard getting a bunch of newbs going on this stuff.

No offense, but it is not too big of a deal to switch it up. 5 minutes of silence is fine. 5 minutes gives them plenty of time to go to the bathroom or go fridge and get more beer!

I am a rhythm game nut though. PaRappa the Rapper was one of my favorite PS1 games, and I also got into DDR. However, since Konami treats the non-Japanese public like garbage when it comes to rhythm games. (Lets throw out a half-assed version of Beatmania, and put NO EFFORT in letting anyone know about it that way we can say we tried!), I started boycotting all Konami rhythm games. It's fine. Stepmania is an amazing substitute.

Some guys have their FPSes, some have their MMOs, I have my rhythm games.

Well, Guitar Hero: Metallica and Smash Hits (also Van Halen, it seems) use an improved version of the World Tour engine.

Notable improvements:
The glitch on purple/clear slider notes has been removed, and they act like regular notes, just without strumming now.

Fast strumming on guitar/bass charts has been tighter to be closer to GH2/RB. The strumming is still loose enough to hit insane passages (Unlike fast strumming on the GH2/RB engine, which was why Trogdor on GH2 wasn't 100%'d for a LONG time.

The fail meter is on your fretboard, so you can tell if you are failing without looking in the corner. The band fail meter is still in the corner, but the entire thing lights up, so you see a green/yellow/red glow from the corner. The combo meter has a black circle under it, so you can see it in star power.

There is now a 5 star counter.

The bass-drum line is not dark purple, and it is white with a pink shadow. (MUCH more visible!) Also, there is a BLACK HIGHWAY!!!! (No stupid designed fretboards! Pure black. Not even transparent! Easy to see! You can even activate a "Black Highway" cheat, so you can use it on characters that aren't your own.

Vocals have a text rating (Excellent, Poor, etc..), and you can now get 100%s, as % is graded on phrases, rather than every pitch in WT (So you don't get a 5 star with a 60%, or something stupid like that)

The entire setlist is unlocked from the get-go.

The characters look less "cartoonish". Metallica actually looks like Metallica! (Unlike the celebs from GH:WT)

The menus are not difficult and confusing like in GH:WT.
---------

The only real problem for me: Online play still sucks. I miss GH3's lobby system. It would be so perfect for band play! (Well, you have the Wii, and I used to have the Wii version of GH3, it didn't have a lobby, since Nintendo hates lobbies. Guess your out of luck there)

Taking the Pro out of Pro-Face off was the biggest mistake they could have made.
As an Expert player, I don't want to play an Easy player on PRO faceoff. Pro-Faceoff used to mean Same-difficulty and Same-chart. Highest score wins. The end-all mode for tournament play.It also gives Easy players more points, to compensate for the lack of notes. An Expert player can easily go down to hard and slaughter expert players because of this.
--------------

But this deal? Don't buy this deal, UNLESS you need full band instruments. This isn't an improved version of GH:WT. It's just GH:WT. I really suggest you play Metallica or Smash Hits, they are much better. Oh, and if you have Rock Band instruments on the Wii, just don't bother. Guitar Hero on the Wii doesn't play nice with Rock Band controllers.
