This Wednesday: Worms 2: Armageddon, King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match attack XBLA

XBLA is dropping a holy hand grenade's worth of violence this week with Worms 2: Armageddon and King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match. Whether you're into vertebrate or spineless carnage, the entry fee to these glorious celebrations of hurt will cost 800

($10) apiece.

Armageddon brings some upgrades to the original Worms XBLA title, so definitely check it out if you're a fan of the series. As for KOF98, the game is about $10 cheaper than the PS2 release, and does support online play -- but there's never a guarantee on how that'll go.

Man, I played so many hours of Armageddon many years ago. I loved it. Though I don't know if I would love it as much now. It was great fun though. May be worth a try at least!

Try the demo first, i tried the original on XBLA and was a little disapointed with the missions etc.

The weapons in Armageddon should have been in the first Worms game on XBLA.

Does anyone know if this worms game is the same as the N64 version? Or is it entirely different?

It will probably be more like the PC version. Which had more stuff, but as long I have the ninja rope and baseball bat I'll be fine.

This isn't the PC Armageddon, it's a sequel to the Worms that's up on XBLA, although it does have all the weapons from Armageddon, plus several completely new ones and a lot of the game modes and options from the newer games, like forts and hats.

I have to question why this stuff couldn't just be added as DLC, but it apparantly does have completely new physics and a load of new stuff.. so we'll see.

The physics are supposed to be closer to Armageddon's, if the Team 17 Facebook page is to be believed. So while the code + graphics may be from the more recent games, Team 17 is supposedly tweaking the gameplay to be as close to the original Armageddon as possible.
