Like trying to watch a foreign language film on a tiny TV, it seems that our buddies at Engadget can't figure out if they've got problems with the Wii MotionPlus technology, or just the way it's being used. The site recently did an exhaustive hands-on with Nintendo's new add-on, the fruits of which you can see here.
The best implementation/demonstration for the super-sensitive tech seems to be manipulating an e-frisbee in 3D space, which is almost too precious and appropriate for our brains to comprehend.

They didn't really seem to use it at all. The basically said "We didn't feel like learning the controls."
Thanks, that's helpful, guys.

I think everyone is still fighting over the Conduit review.

From what my buddy tells me, the improvements in control and playability on Tiger Woods with Motion Plus is incredibly substantial. The one I owned a few years ago became borderline unplayable because the Wiimote would eff up 1 out of every 4 or 5 swings. He thinks the new one is pretty flawless, loves it.

I agree, Wii motion plus didnt add enough to Tiger Woods 10 to make it that much of a better experience form the previous one.
I imagine Wii sports resort will be the true demonstration of the Wii motion +.

I bought Grand Slam and the Tiger Woods bundle on release day. I love Tiger and think the game and motion plus are awesome. That bundle is worth the purchase.
Grand Slam on the other hand, is garbage. I didn't like anything about it. Wii Sports tennis is more fun. Harsh, but how I feel. I sold it the very next day.

it is the subtle improvements that make the difference in gameplay. this isn't like adding extra buttons.
i thought engadget was more credible.. this article reads like its from joystiq itself

From other reviews I've read of Grand Slam Tennis, they seemed pretty much on the right track. And the same with Tiger Woods 10. Tiger they really seemed to approve of; Tennis not so much. I can't really say as I haven't played either of them myself, but from what I've been hearing, Tiger Woods 10 is the golf game to beat now. WM+ seemed to really make a difference in that game. The one thing I DIDN'T like about this article: the dig at the Wii's graphics capabilities at the end. The article didn't need that. I felt that was king of petty.

Graphics do matter, and the graphic fidelity actually does impact gameplay in Tiger Woods. Its hard to notice subtle variations in terrain, in fact its hard to tell if the polygons aren't actually there or if its just a low resolution mess.
Its hard not to take the graphics for Tiger into account, they are bad.

No, it's petty to ignore the poor graphics ability of the Wii. The graphics on Tiger Woods 10 deter it from greatness. It's amazing, but it's not quite greatness. It's difficult to see the hole in the distance, it's difficult to discern the hole from the putting grid when you're on the green sometimes, and it's just clunky looking. And yes, I have the component 480p set up. The Wii looked better on my old CRT. It's such a letdown after playing the 360 and PS3 operating at HD.
I really wish that Sony motion thing would hurry up and come out, so we could get some amazing 1:1 Tiger Woods golf club control in HD. I fear that the Natal thing is a ways off and that MS will do it without any controller in your hand, like that painting demo. Not how I want to golf, MS. So I await the SonyTotalDildo™ (STD for short) control.

That's a bit of my point, though. If you want to talk about how the graphics of the particular game detract or add to the experience, fine. But what they did in the article was take a bite at the Wii, basically saying that its graphics are just plain inferior to the other two consoles, and that motion controlled games will only REALLY be good when they ARE on the other consoles, because of their graphic capabilities. At least, that's what I took out of this articles end. And that is what I feel was inappropriate for them to do: take a cheap shot at the Wii.
