Last Friday's New York Times "Wedding/Celebrations" section announced the nuptials of Ms. Amy Gilbert (who is studying for her Ph.D. in molecular medicine in London) and Joshua Atkins, the "lead game designer for Fable III." Would this be be first tandem wedding and game announcement? Although Fable III doesn't officially exist, Atkins has been with Lionhead since Fable and is listed as a part of the design team at Microsoft Game Studios in the Fable II manual.
This isn't the first time Fable III has been unofficially mentioned: British talk show host Jonathan Ross tweeted in March that he was approached to do voice work for the game. Of course, we've contacted Microsoft for confirmation of Fable III's development. We absolutely can't wait until the company pulls "we don't comment on rumor and speculation" on this one.
PS: From all of us at Joystiq: Congratulations to the happy couple!
Update: Microsoft's official statement: "We have nothing to announce regarding future Lionhead Studios projects."

"Fable I-II" could easily have been miscorrected as "Fable III" before print. Just a thought.

I'm sure there is a great opportunity for a joke here, considering the fun things you could to to spouses in Fable II.

I had mixed feelings for Fable II. It just felt like Fable with better graphics so I'm hoping that the 3rd installment is vastly improved.

I really wish Fable 3 isn't as terribly programmed as 2. Has anyone watehed someone play a new game. The game runs so smooth, but then you feel like you wanna play and then boom. You load up your save and the game runs like shit. The controls are floating, everything is poppy, and it lags like crazy.

I believe you're referring to the effect that makes it feel like your character is constantly running on a sheet of ice....

For a few seconds there I thought Joystiq would be rude and not even wish the happy couple. I am glad I was wrong.
Also, when can I preorder this thing :) Love this series and will play it all the time. I hope it does have a slightly better ending than the last game. Also, they should try and make the world a little more seamless even if it means not making gorgeous sunsets and sunrises.

I agree. the ending sucked. I was hoping for an epic fight. Like the jack of blades fight in fable one. or the jack of blades dragon in the lost chapters (which was even better). fable 2 you just shine a mirror in front of the guy. I am curious as to what theresea will do with the spire. and if she's the same theresea from fable 1...

Who at The Stiq was reading the Wedding Announcement Section? And why? I don't think it's a hot bed for gaming news... well except for this one time. But one instance hardly makes it a hot bed (insert joke here).

Well, cheers and hopefully they'll have a long and fruitful life together. There's nothing better than going home after seeing that your wife "Wants Sex". If things don't work out for the best of course, you can relax knowing you'll receive more credit at the Wheel of Torture.

I bet the couple's family and friends will be calling all day and night... not to congratulate them on their wedding, but to ask about Fable 3.
"Hey, dude! So what's this about Fable 3?! Oh, right, right, the wedding... yeah congrats... but are you working on Fable 3 or not?!"

I picked up Fable II for cheap last month and have to say I'm pleasantly surprised.
I'm not saying Twilight Princess was a bad game, but Fable II FEELS like the correct direction the Zelda series should head in. When I turn my console on and I enter the world of Albion, I know I'm going to have an epic adventure. Nothing feels forced or like a chore.
Anyway, I certainly look forward to Fable III.

Yeah, Link should totally be giving people the finger, farting on them, and banging hookers. GTA: Hyrule style. :)

Well, Jonathan Ross said on his twitter aaaaaages ago (Like in March) that he was in the studio recording for Fable 3, so it is probably happening.

i don't think i'll be getting Fable 3, after years of PM hyping both fable 1&2 to high heaven and then always being screwed over(especially with the DLC), i think i'm done with the fable series, but if they make it more along the lines of oblivion then i might change my mind

God fucking hope not!! Everybody is entitled to their opinion but if you want a game like Oblivion then just buy Oblivion or wait for Bethesda to release a new one but Fable universe should remain as is. I like its quirky sense of style and distinctly British humor. I happen to like the game and how its played. I dont want another completely stat based RPG game.
I say bring on more Fable III and even if its like Fable II they will have my preorder money.
Just no freaky shit like Milo ok!!

Mine was @Kinsey as well, hence the duplicate entry when I tried to correct it. Wasn't aware of this glitch, but it seems I'm not the first to experience it.

arnie, what i meant was that i just wish that the world was opened up and didn't have the enterance/exit doors and the load screens, and that there was a lot more to do, basically take everything that was great about oblivion but with a fable twist, i don't know what the next fable will be, but i just want it to have a bigger world to explore and have a lot hidden areas and treasure to find, is that so wrong

Mainstream reporters are dumb shits. Either they make a significant typo, or reveal news that shouldn't have been.

Uh, I'm pretty sure reporters don't write the wedding announcements that appear in newspapers, goof.

I don't get why this is such a big deal. I mean, we all KNOW Fable 3 is coming out. There's money to be made, and it'd be bad business not to make it. Stop the presses when they show the teaser, do the official announcement, or tell us what the hell Aurora is.

Why credit Kotaku? I mean, it was in the NYT, and they found out about it from a tip from a reader tip. It's not exactly like they did a bunch of work to break the news.
