gib, you are no where near average. You honestly think 15-18 games is average? There's barely that many worth a damn on the iPhone. As long as we're simply using anecdotal evidence I can point out that my wife has maybe 2-3 games on her iPhone and probably 10 or so random non-games (e.g. Weatherbug). The only people I personally know with as many games as you're talking about on their iPhone are a couple of guys with Jailbroken phones that are simply stealing everything.

You know how Engadget has like, a no-Apple feed?

Maybe Joystiq should make a special page decidated to his protection that never came true, come on the most important new feature to come out of E3 twitter and facebook?

The PS3 can already do that, the 360 could also if MS would release a browser.

Holy crap, I missed the news that Carradine died. Just looked up the Wikipedia summary of his death. That reads like something that a hack movie writer would come up with while on a three day bender with bad drugs and ugly hookers. What the hell?

Well in a year and half phones will be twice as powerful, and a year and half from then they will be twice more powerful. So in 3 years time they will be 4 times more powerful than now. I wonder what games you could run with that.

I sure hope it's a fad. I've had an iPhone for a while and was at first really excited about gaming on it. Fast forward 6 months and many game downloads later, and I've simply lost all interest in the iPhone as a gaming device. It's a great smart phone, to be sure, but without physical buttons/a directional pad, it's just not as fun as playing a really well-made DS or PSP game. Not to mention the framerate in most 3d games is terrible--I know the 3GS is supposed to improve this, but that doesn't solve the lack of buttons problem (and no, I have no interest in using a cumbersome add-on to give this thing some buttons--I want them built into the unit itself).

I'm going on vacation this weekend and taking a DS Lite (plus Chrono Trigger, FFVI Advance, & Castlevania) for my gaming fix--the iPhone will be relegated to web browsing, e-mail, and cocktail mixing recipes. Cheers!

I think its a fad in the same way that 3D Graphics were a fad, or online gaming was a fad. 3D games were the "it" thing to do in the early 5th gen, and online games were the "it" thing in the early 6th. Both are merely staples of our industry now, and nothing to brag about

So is iPhone/mobile gaming now. Devs won't be going apeshit about it in a few years, but it will be there. I predict it will adapt a relationship with handhelds the way PC gaming relates to consoles.

Who is this guy and why do we care? I've never heard of him or his company. He's obviously never played an iPhone game and his statements are baseless.

Wow, so mobile games are really going to catch on. It must be true, because Pachter said otherwise.
