Red Faction: Guerrilla getting three DLC packs, first coming August 13
If your revolutionary Martian escapades are drawing to a close, don't fret -- it looks like there's plenty more Red Faction: Guerrilla content coming out in the next few months. THQ just announced three new DLC packs for the game -- the first of which, titled Demons of the Badlands, will land on XBLM and the PlayStation Store on August 13.
Badlands is an expansion to the game's single-player campaign which features a "mission arc that takes place in an entirely new Mars landscape outside of the existing expansive world." THQ has priced the DLC at 800
or $9.99. The developer has promised further details on the August-bound DLC and the two other upcoming expansions in the next few weeks, so keep your ear to the red, dusty ground.

Great to see they're aiming to keeping the multiplayer healthy for awhile. It should help keep players playing even when the heavy hitters this holiday hit retail.

Where are you getting multiplayer from?
MystileArmor @ Jun 30th 2009 5:38PM
..his ass? Some people just don't seem to read more then the headlines of articles.
jon @ Jun 30th 2009 5:10PM
screw single player we want multi player expansions.
K1LLER HORNET @ Jun 30th 2009 5:13PM
i prefer single player on games like these.
i'll check out this DLC if i ever finish the game.
there are just too many games, & not enough time.
i have some titles i haven't even booted up yet :O
Neuromancer @ Jun 30th 2009 5:14PM
MP stuff and more Wrecking Crew DLC is coming, I'd rather have this though.
BlingOnMyWrist @ Jun 30th 2009 9:05PM
How about both?
Cosmo (formerly Chin-Poh) @ Jun 30th 2009 7:50PM
Stop ignoring single player please developers!!!
joshua.nash @ Jun 30th 2009 5:12PM
i hope that one of the dlc is a MP pack that puts walkers in mutliplayer
Neuromancer @ Jun 30th 2009 5:25PM
Great idea but somehow I doubt they'll do it.
WiredKnight @ Jun 30th 2009 6:27PM
Any vehicles would be nice.
Neuromancer @ Jun 30th 2009 5:13PM
I hope in addition they add some things to the main game, like being able to play from the start with all the weapons/gear from a previous game (i.e. New Game +) and more walkers to play with (seriously at the end of the game, I had seen maybe 5 walkers I could use).
Unplugged @ Jun 30th 2009 5:19PM
I've played it for about 20 or so hours and I've only used walkers 4 times. 3 times in missions and one was just somewhere in a garage so more walkers would be great.
Magnalon @ Jun 30th 2009 5:13PM
I hope we at least get future multiplayer packs.
Professor Lario @ Jun 30th 2009 5:18PM
Phrasing is interesting...
"that takes place in an entirely new Mars landscape outside of the EXISTING EXPANSIVE world"
Emphasizing that the DLC wasn't chopped from the original?
Archr5 @ Jun 30th 2009 5:22PM
I'll be pumped if they add Wrecking Crew over XBLA.
this game is So good... I'm definitely not complaining about them adding more buildings that are destined to be made into gravel
Vcize @ Jun 30th 2009 5:25PM
This game is awesome.
That is all.
Neuromancer @ Jun 30th 2009 5:26PM
I heard a podcast a few weeks ago (Kombo Breaker) where they interviewed someone from Volition (can't remember his name) about this game. Basically he said there were 3 DLC packs coming out in the near future, an SP pack, an MP pack and a Wrecking Crew pack. Just FYI.
whylekat @ Jun 30th 2009 5:33PM
WTF is a wrecking crew pack??
Vcize @ Jun 30th 2009 5:35PM
Wrecking Crew is a game-type in the game. It is separate from the single player campaign. Think crash mode from Burnout Revenge.
whylekat @ Jun 30th 2009 5:31PM
This is cool but by august so many other great games will be out that I'll have to ime for it! =/ release it in July!! Jerks.
max @ Jun 30th 2009 5:39PM
this is what Volition said about SR2 DLC and look how crap that is. :|
gws898 @ Jun 30th 2009 7:50PM
That's on my birthday! lol
duerra @ Jun 30th 2009 6:13PM
Am I the only one that's frustrated with all of these companies releasing a game then charging for more downloadable content a couple months later? I can't get past the feeling that we're being ushered into an era of gaming that I really don't want to go to.
So this is how gaming and ownership dies? With thunderous applause.
I'd rather buy the sequel outright in another year when they can do it justice. I just really don't want to buy something that I can't hold in my hand, and resell to someone else.
Tank @ Jun 30th 2009 6:14PM
So since the DLC is coming out on August 19th, and the PC version drops on August 25th, the DLC will be included in the PC release for free, right?
Right guys?
*crickets*
joe @ Jun 30th 2009 6:21PM
I just wish there was a way to reset all the buildings i destroyed in the single player.
After unlocking all these new weapons etc, i have nothing left to blow up.
please a reset button for all the buildings without having to restart the game would make a great game even better, just make it a option in menu's like adjusting the difficulty
Neuromancer @ Jun 30th 2009 7:43PM
Seconded.
uncle jesse @ Jun 30th 2009 6:25PM
I'm still pleasantly surprised by how good this game is. It's just pure fun!
Happy to see it getting continued support.
Baligouxji @ Jun 30th 2009 6:36PM
Looks like it'll be a pretty substantial up-date. I like how they're starting out with single player content first, just cause the multiplayer still feels fresh. Must buy for me.
Mazrael @ Jun 30th 2009 6:51PM
...I thought it was Gears 2 DLC as I paged down.. still, gives me something to look forward too when I get around to getting Red Faction - I'm hoping it's all Single player campaign DLC.. it's the best sort (for me)
shay @ Jun 30th 2009 6:59PM
Isn't anyone else upset they release a game, charge us $60 and within a month have 3 more $10 "expansions" to sell us. That sort of stuff probably should have been in the game to begin with, plus they don't tend to be worth the extra $10. I'm tired of paying these ridiculous prices I'd like see a little more value for my money.
Jeff @ Jun 30th 2009 7:04PM
This is great news. I can't reccomend this game enough to people. You tell someone that this game has destructible buildings but they dont seem to care.. but when you actually see the game in action its jaw dropping....
Not to mention the multiplayer is better than most of this generation. Yes including COD and Halo.. and I like them!
Rocket packs must be mandatory in all future games.
Tango Charlie @ Jun 30th 2009 7:33PM
Sounds like a good reason to wait until Christmas, when they bundle them all together for 60 bucks.
Alex @ Jun 30th 2009 7:35PM
If we end up finding out that these packs are already on the disc, Volition will lose all of my respect.
Cosmo (formerly Chin-Poh) @ Jun 30th 2009 7:50PM
Hope this comes to the PC release, I don't think the PC versions of Saints Row 2 got the DLC. : (
Giroro @ Jul 1st 2009 1:00AM
That screenshot is really brown. Is the whole game like that?
Kenofthedead @ Jul 1st 2009 3:34AM
It really is that brown all over the game, with a tint of red.
However it does first, being Mars and all.
Personally I would love a DLC mission that is set in the far future, where terraforming has been successful in full and Mars is green. That would be fine with the destructible environments.
joe of war @ Jul 2nd 2009 10:38AM
Actually when you drive or walk into a different area (region), the color scheme changes a bit. For example the sky may turn from a red tint to a blue, or even a dark cloudy grey. And the ground changes color also. It helps distinguish where the hell you're going and how close to objectives you are. It's a subtle change but you can definitely tell when you're in a new area (looking for new buildings to decimate!).
tiredcow @ Jul 21st 2009 11:45PM
how about puting vechiles in multiplayer
