Shadaloo Lounge celebrates 'Legend of Chun-Li' DVD release, awards $2000
Do not adjust your eyes, you are seeing multiple Chun-Lis. After transforming LA's Chinatown Mountain Bar into M. Bison's favorite watering hole, Mike Ross was awarded $2,000 for placing first in best-of-16 Street Fighter IV tournament. The one-night-only event was organized by Capcom and I Am 8-bit to "celebrate" the DVD and Blu-ray release of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. We think "celebrate" is the wrong word, but according to Capcom's Unity blog, that's what the party was organized for.
We send our congratulations to Mike for winning the tourney and send our condolences to Capcom for being forced to giveaway nearly all profit* they extracted from the travesty that was Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.
*For the record, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li made a few million bones, but it was one helluva train wreck.

The reason the movie sucked is because they forgot to add Chun-Li's massive arms and hands.
KillaChaos @ Jun 30th 2009 11:08AM
Don't you mean her massive thighs and breasts?
xtremeholymuffin @ Jun 30th 2009 12:06AM
If Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li was billed as a 75%-comedy in the spirit of Drag Me to Hell I would have considered it a masterpiece.
Markez @ Jun 30th 2009 12:42AM
Drag me to Hell? 75% comedy? It's got a shockingly high average score on Metacritic for what I'd perceived to be a horror/thriller flick, is that not what kinda movie it is?
Girlfriend and I love scary movies so we were thinking about hitting it up, but I'd have to pass if it's actually as much comedy as you're suggesting :P
Sly @ Jun 30th 2009 12:56AM
most "horror" movies are comedies now anyways. my bloody valentine? PSSHH.
Markez @ Jun 30th 2009 1:02AM
Yeah if we hadn't gone to see that in 3D it really would've been bordering on untolerable. While My Bloody Valentine was jam packed with typically cliche horror movie gimmicks, I don't think it was necessarily trying to be a comedy.
xtremeholymuffin @ Jun 30th 2009 1:16AM
It's SUPPOSED to be part comedy, you fool! Army of Darkness style!
xtremeholymuffin @ Jun 30th 2009 1:20AM
Oh, my bad, it seems you understand.
HOWEVER, I would like to provide my unconditional recommendation of the masterpiece that is drag me to hell.
You'll jump a few times and laugh your ass off for the rest of the movie. Some parts are fairly intense, though, just due to Sam Raimi's dedication towards pushing the limits of good taste.
whylekat @ Jun 30th 2009 1:51AM
@markez
don't see drag me to hell! It's dumb
*Spoilers* the main evil is a button. There I said it. A friggin button. Sooo stupid!
Markez @ Jun 30th 2009 1:57AM
I never have been able to see the word *spoiler and not read past it. Obviously, I have no one to blame but myself, but thanks a pantload :P
Sly @ Jun 30th 2009 2:18AM
yeah, everytime i see "SPOILERS", i just wanna read past it and spoil everything. i have a thing for spoilers though. like i was on the battle of hogwarts chapter in the last harry potter book and i was getting impacient so i just went on wikipedia are read what happened and then read it for myself. weird right?
U U D D L R L R B A SELECT START @ Jun 30th 2009 9:21AM
Thats why I like giving spoilers that are totally fictitious. That way, when watching if they remember my "spoiler" they keep anticipating it throughout the story.
I have had people come up to me afterward utterly confused assuming they missed something. ^ . ^

A taste of Raimi's previous horror / comedy masterpiece, Bruce Cambell vs. Army of Darkness
"Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?"
I could keep going with these quotes all day; it's just about as quotable as a movie can get.
xtremeholymuffin @ Jun 30th 2009 12:45PM
THAT'S RIGHT, THE MAIN EVIL IS A BUTTON AND A GOAT-DEMON!!!!!
DO YOU NOT SEE HOW FUCKING AWESOME THIS IS?!?!?!
Saria the Cat @ Jun 30th 2009 1:15PM
I LOVE Army of Darkness.
xtremeholymuffin @ Jun 30th 2009 2:38PM
If you don't mind the distinct lack of Bruce Campbell, you should go see Drag Me to Hell
AvA (ice~) @ Jun 30th 2009 12:08AM
i'm buying the dvd for some laughs
AvA (ice~) @ Jun 30th 2009 12:08AM
I hope it comes with a collection of all the reviews!!!
mcatrage @ Jun 30th 2009 1:34AM
Rent. Even laughing at the movie it isn't worth buying.
EMaster @ Jun 30th 2009 2:00AM
How Dare you! LOL jk. But seriously do not give these people your money. They should be paying you to even consider purchasing this.
Timstew @ Jun 30th 2009 12:15AM
Don't listen to your penis. This movie is terrible, and you should not pay to watch it.
Cheesus(Crust) @ Jun 30th 2009 1:00AM
lol!
HSOL @ Jun 30th 2009 12:17AM
Chris Klein's atrocious performance alone is reason enough for me to see the movie. Nash out!
xtremeholymuffin @ Jun 30th 2009 1:26AM
Chris Klein was my avatar for months after seeing that movie.
Now I switched it over to Michael Clark Duncan as Balrog.
Let me tell you, that gamer picture pack is the gift that keeps on giving.
kentuckyfried @ Jun 30th 2009 12:24AM
Why wasn't this event announced earlier (or was it)?
It helps b/c I can pass on to certain radio contacts I have down in Socal, maximize exposure and all...
Xav de Matos @ Jun 30th 2009 1:03AM
We did write about it before the event. Check the first hyperlink in the story.
Apollo @ Jun 30th 2009 12:56AM
So did he get to keep all the Chun li's after?
tuck @ Jun 30th 2009 1:24AM
The chun li in the middle looks like a guy. The chun li on the right? Shwing!!
EMaster @ Jun 30th 2009 2:02AM
That is a word that needs to come back... SHWING! Is the one in the middle even Asian? I would like to see the rest of the chick on the right in order for me to semi-standup and thrust my hips slightly before I go "Swhing"! Start using the word ppl!
tuck @ Jun 30th 2009 12:53PM
Shwing. A word of epic proportions.
David Smallwood @ Jun 30th 2009 2:07AM

Think Adrian @ Jun 30th 2009 6:58AM
That movie had bad acting, bad (and wrong) storyline, terrible lines, but pretty images.
MaxShrek @ Jun 30th 2009 7:54AM
I was going to ask if the movie was released to theaters yet, but apparently, that already happened?
Cody @ Jun 30th 2009 8:26AM
What a great piece of cinema.
PedoJokerBear (aka Deeznuts) @ Jun 30th 2009 8:32AM
such a huge box for so little money
Sly @ Jun 30th 2009 2:21PM
ugh i hate hookers like that. :P
Gnoll @ Jun 30th 2009 9:01AM
Any one of those Chun-Li's look a thousand times more like Chun-Li than the one in the movie. They are probably equally as good at acting, considering it takes no effort.
I have to admit I had a great time watching Legend of Chun-Li, just because we went on the Thursday after it opened at the earliest screening and NO ONE but me and my friend were there, so we could loudly and openly heckle it the entire time.
Aero @ Jun 30th 2009 8:52AM
I think they meant to say the prize was to say sorry for the film, not to celebrate it.
Kdiggy @ Jun 30th 2009 9:02AM
Three Chun-Lis and one guy is my life long dream.
Storm Eagle @ Jun 30th 2009 9:30AM
I love the random "thumbs up" in that pic.
Crazy-008 @ Jun 30th 2009 4:57PM
Yea that is hilarious.
dru @ Jun 30th 2009 9:31AM
Mike Ross is a boss. Too bad Justin Wong wasn't at this one.
pquarme @ Jun 30th 2009 9:48AM

Michael @ Jun 30th 2009 12:30PM
its true what they say, they all look alike.
Exemplar @ Jun 30th 2009 1:25PM
yeah, your mother really DOES look a lot like one of those trailer trash whores.
Avada Kadavra 9 @ Jun 30th 2009 1:23PM
I would like to use 1000 palm strike on any of those chun-li's
