A 'slice' of Forza 3's Japanese cars and tracks revealed
With an October release just around the corner, Turn 10 is taking the time to slowly reveal the cars and tracks featured in Forza Motorsport 3. Today's details come from the Japanese region, with news that Forza 3 will feature the legendary Suzuka Circuit -- known as one of the most "dangerous motorsport race tracks in Japan" -- the Tsukuba Circuit and the Twin Ring Motegi, home of the Indy Japan 300.
Also revealed in today's press release were 17 of the game's 400 vehicles, featuring standard production cars like the 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR and 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi, as well as race models from Nissan and Toyota. A full list of the rides revealed today -- which Turn 10 promises is just a 'slice' of Japanese content -- can be found after the break. Brace your faces, racing fans, as Turn 10 trickles out more details for the upcoming racing sim in the coming months.

Bring it on already.

17 of the 400 cars are Japanese?
Or have i got this wrong, and have only released a section of the Japanese cars they plan to release?
DeepFriedSushi @ Jul 1st 2009 6:48AM
... you dumb?

apologies =/
I did wake up at 10am this morning :o, rather than my usual 2pm :p (no excuse really.. I fail)

Actually i've been contemplating when cars are added to a videogame who pays? is it the manufactures or the developers?
on one hand they are getting advertising (gm paid to be in transformers) but then unlike a movie, multiple other manufacturers are also in the game. in forza the cars are being damaged so they are being portrayed unfavorable sometimes.
i'm gonna guess its nearly mutual but devs probably pay a small licensing fee.
but in retrospect Nissan shoulda pay polyphony since Gran Turismo practically made the skyline a household name.
R (XBL: Esoteric Lord) @ Jul 1st 2009 9:23AM
Probably isnt any sort of set rule. Big brands like Ford and Ferrari probably dont need advertising, and they probably ask for some sort of fee. An Obscure brand however, would probably agree to it for the free advertising.
This is all just me guessing, of course.
Tiptup300 @ Jul 1st 2009 12:31PM
Not to mention the impreza only came to america cuz of GT.
Naota @ Jul 1st 2009 1:36PM
@Tiptup300
The Lancer Evo line only came to the states after being popularized in GT as well.

I love that Lexus (picture 11) but a Yaris? Come on! All I want is my irl car in the game, the 93' Celica.
copa @ Jul 1st 2009 7:48AM
I don't have an opinion on this anymore. I need to know what Michael Pachter thinks about this.

"that Forza 3 will feature the legendary Suzuka Circuit, the Tsukuba Circuit and the Twin Ring Motegi."
So ... basically those three tracks we already played to death in FM2. I'm getting way less excited about FM3 every time they release some news. No weather effects, no open wheelers, tracks from FM2, drift crap, time replay like GRID. This really doesn't look too good ...

You're saying 'tracks from FM2' as if it's the same old rehashed fake circuit. Suzuka, Tsukuba and Motegi are real circuits, and Suzuka in particular is renowned as one of the best racing circuits on the planet. In fact, I'm a little annoyed that they haven't announced the Fuji Speedway. I don't know what you were expecting instead of these world class circuits (game designers can't exactly design a grand prix track to the standard of Suzuka), but to slate a racing sim for having Suzuka as a playable track on more than one game is just ridiculous.
B-rad @ Jul 1st 2009 10:59AM
Geez man, a bit picky are we? You conveniently forgot all of the improvements from FM2, such as in-car views, 10x more poly counts, 100 tracks, almost DOUBLE the amount of cars in FM2, better physics including crash physics, car flipping, instant replay... (how can a new OPTIONAL feature be seen as a BAD thing?). Sounds like you want all of the new features in FM3 + all of the features from GT5 combined in one game. Of course, we're in la-la land now.
This game will be picked up on day 1.
and yes, your comment was downvoted by me.
picasotriggerfish @ Jul 1st 2009 11:07AM
Why are you upset that they're re-using tracks? This way you'll have an initial advantage knowing the corners. I'd rather have them feature real tracks than make an entire game of nothing but made-up tracks like GT5. In fact, they better have Silverstone as well, I love that course.
Here's hoping that they have the Top Gear track and the Formula One circuit at the Nürburgring. Oh, and they need to have the Wiesmann MF3 and 1957 Corvette Fuel Injection.

"I'd rather have them feature real tracks than make an entire game of nothing but made-up tracks like GT5"
Hey Dickless Wonderpanties....if you are going to slam a game that is not out yet, at least get your fact straight. GT games have always had REAL tracks to go along with some made up ones.
Oh, and btw....Top Gears test track will be in GT5.
NOOK @ Jul 1st 2009 2:37PM
@B-rad:
No Sir, i couldn't care less about GT5. All I want, and I'm sure I'm not alone on this one, is different tracks. The lack of tracks is the only thing that bothered me about FM2. Of course, Suzuka has to be included. But there's more in Japan, let alone the rest of the world.

Bobs @ Jul 1st 2009 3:06PM
Its not like there are new race tracks popping up around the world every month or so.
They are already creating their own race tracks from scratch so that should be good and original.
NOOK @ Jul 1st 2009 8:59AM
I already did that when I wrote it. To be honest, I actually am one of the biggest Forza fanboys. I just fear this game will be a major letdown.
NOOK @ Jul 1st 2009 9:03AM
And again, the comment system did it again.
Jeff @ Jul 1st 2009 10:14AM
GRAH, Suzuka! Something about it just makes me fly into the gravel at least twice a race. I can't think of any tracks that give me more trouble.
Ugh, Yaris. What a worthless automobile. Also, they should have used the 2008 Fit, it was sportier, mostly because it was lighter.
None of this matters at all, though. All I care about is tearing down the Mulsanne.
Bobs @ Jul 1st 2009 11:01AM
Well that was predictable .... standard production cars for 08/09 cars. I'd be upset if some of those cars weren't in the game.
BTW, I know Infiniti is owned by Nissan but its an American subsidiary of Nissan which technically makes it an "American car".
Naota @ Jul 1st 2009 1:40PM
Thats what they did in Forza 2, I found it a bit annoying, since Infiniti, Acura, and Lexus are usually just rebadged Nissans, Hondas, and Toyotas. Just a minor thing though.
NOT ME @ Jul 1st 2009 7:08PM
no bueno....Created and designed and engineered in japan....even if it were built here we cant take the credit
andy h @ Jul 1st 2009 2:02PM
YES! I'm really looking forward to this game now. That 370z looks very nice, and sweet, I can do an economy car showdown between the Toyota Yaris, Honda Fit, and Nissan Versa/Tiida, or a BMW M3 vs Lexus IS-F comparo! :) I wonder if they're going to include some SUVs like the Audi Q7 or Porsche Cayenne. :)
Bobs @ Jul 1st 2009 3:03PM
Yeah well its "politically" correct to place them under the American category sector.
But its only a bit tricky because the car parts are mainly Japanese.
I don't remember whether the discount received with an Inifnity or Lexus was towards Japanese parts or American (from leveling up your cars rep)
tcc3 @ Jul 1st 2009 4:16PM
Its also becasue the japanese luxury brands were developed for and only sold in the US. Only recently have those brands been available in the Japanese market.
So Japanese pedigree, but they are basically American cars.
evilspoons @ Jul 1st 2009 5:07PM
I wonder if they'll allow anything to be engine-swapped into the Yaris/Versa/Fit
I really want to build a completely undrivable 500+ horsepower Fit to careen around a track in. My favorite 'bad' car in FM2 is the Porsche 914/4, which has awd, 900 hp, and can't turn corners to save its life.
I am excited to see the Mazdaspeed 3 though. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Axela (the 'normal' Mazda3) in the original FM2.
jon chan @ Jul 2nd 2009 1:24AM
Toyota Yaris FTW
cyborg_2424 @ Jul 1st 2009 10:59PM
Is Forza 3 going to have the '08 Nissan GT-R? It would be sick if they had the Top Gear test track too. :P
