JAKKS wants to keep WWE, THQ not quite sure

JAKKS is more than happy to reenter into its WWE licensing deal with THQ, but the gaming company isn't so sure it's ready to make a commitment. After JAKKS signed on the dotted line to extend its gaming agreement with the wrestling group for five years, THQ sued the toymaker, saying it wasn't ready to make a decision and that JAKKS had no right to sign the agreement without THQ's consent.

There were some reportedly shady dealings when JAKKS originally got the contract -- perhaps THQ wants to get the whole pie for itself. Who knows? Either way, the two companies have entered into arbitration, so hopefully the tiff won't have an impact on releases.

I haven't played a good wrestling game since Day of Reckoning 2. These Smackdown vs. Raw stunts need some competition; otherwise, I'll sit the next one out.

I honestly couldn't get to sleep for an hour after lying in bed last night. and I kept seeing the face in my closet!!! Nice one Joystiq. Persistent yet effective.

I have yet to play a wrestling game that's as fun to me as WWF No Mercy on N64 was. Then again, I haven't played one in the last couple of years... Are there any that have a similar engine?

lol its not. There area few good ones on the Playstation section that take a really good eye to see.

no, the hardest one to spot was the one in the splinter cell article because you had to watch the video to find it.

Joystiq has ruined their own site... you don't have to like it but you HAVE to respect it. They won't be able to keep it up for much longer because the site has turned into a virtual seek and find for the DSG.

I just wanted to commend Joystiq for their stellar Dead Space Chick placements. I'm having a blast finding them all. The Silverlight and Cataclysm placements were especially good. ;)

Here comes the Pain was the best Smackdown game to me. All these new WWE games seem like DLC rather than an actual new game.

I agree. The Season mode in HCTP was by far the best in ANY WWE game to date. Although there wasn't much difference between being a face and a heel, but hell your still always a babyface in the WWE games.

I love DSG...

500 imaginary dollars for whoever creates a DSG in a Smackdown vs. Raw.

OK I am gone for a few hours now it seems like the "Dead Space Girl" has taken over Joystiq.

As the night draws to a close over here in the eastern time zone, I ponder...will I wake in the morning to freshly-posted Joystiq stories featuring DSG? One can only hope and pray before bed tonight.

It would be awesome if there were a way to use DSG as a wrestler in this game. I would buy it.

Needs a breath of fresh air. Give it to Epic. Cliffy B could inject the series with the bromance that the games have been lacking for some time.

I almost missed that one.

I haven't liked wrestling since I was 13 years old, but I still occasionally enjoy playing the games, the creation systems are awesome and they're a lot of fun with friends. That being said, the last good one was 2006, since then they've been removing options, features, entire modes and barley improving anything.

2009 sold very poorly from what I hear, and even my friends who are still into the whole thing, don't give a damn about 2010.

THQ either need to put a lot more effort into it, or give it up and hand it to someone else.
