Kojima Productions in 'support role' for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Hideo Kojima has further reiterated his supporting role in Castlevania: Lord of Shadow in a new interview with Weekly Famitsu, reports 1UP. "This has become a big project, one with the idea that we needed to make a Castlevania which had that same kind of feverish Western support, and that's why Kojima Productions came in to help," Kojima told the Japanese publication.

With his Metal Gear Solid games beloved by everyone the world over (everyone with taste, anyway), Kojima's the right man for the job. But seeing as how this game is being developed by Madrid-based Mercury Steam Entertainment, Kojima obviously won't be on-site to aid in development. Instead, the team comes up with concepts to run by Kojima and he has them "fix things based on my objective viewpoint." An example given is the initial model for the hero's face, which Kojima had them redesign to be, well, more heroic looking. See, people, this is the kind of thing only Kojima can bring to the table!

Yeah i watched a game play trailer for this game on gametrailers. A) The hero did not look like a belmont or a vampire (alucard style) B) The game play looked super iffy and possibly worse than the last consoles decent 3d castlevania games. C) most of the scenes i saw were not even in a castle. (I know castlevania games aren't bound exclusively to the castle, but still i would expect the majority of the game to be there.) It makes you wonder why this team chose to call this a castlevania game instead of just making an original action IP. Kojima tacking his name on the end only makes me question the merits of this game more.

What games has mercury steam previously made? I have never heard of them until 5 mins ago.

Scrapland was good though.

I bought it for £1 at a Pound store, it was well worth, especially since (for when I bought it) it looked gorgeous and played great with an excellent sense of humor.

Good reviews too if you look it up.

I was surprised how great Castlevania looked at Konami E3 Press conference - of course I am a big fan of Metal Gear Games, played all the titles, including those on PSP. I just hope Kojima saves enough energy for Peace Walker and Rising. Actually, for those who finished MGS4 and have the Raiden facecamo + if you swap the octocamo for a downlaoded black carbon-like suit .. you almost feel like you are playing a game with Raiden as main character. Also, with the MGO latest expansion pack, you can play Raiden as a unique Character online - it's amazing how fast he is, and how nicely he can deflect bullets with his sword.

Keep the good work Kojima, but put more energy on Peace Walker and Rising.

How do you buy those expansions? I've tried through the Konami portal and I can never figure out how to buy them. I wish they would just sell them on the PSN store front. But, everytime I try to go and buy them from the in game konami portal/browser it's in japanese and I can't figure out where to go and what to do.

There is now a link in the game to buy it with your PSstore wallet. Start MGO, in the menus you will find a new link to access the Konami store using your PSN wallet. Hope it helps,

PhotoHope is a terrific piece of software. I especially love the "adjust optimism" slider, and of course the "rose-colored glasses" filter is always extremely useful.

I think everyone can agree how deep Kojima's games are. I often have a strange feeling when I start playing a new game (other than MGS series) - a lot of time I feel the game is empty, no soul, no ambiance, no story, I don't connect with the caracters, the weapons, the locations - the only games I did not have this feeling were MGS series, RE5, GTA4, Uncharted, Dead Space ... actually, good games are very rare. Kojima ability to make every detail perfect + the whole game experience perfect is amazing. Find me a single game that has a deeper story than MGS4, that includes an iPod with podcasts, that includes over 100 precise and well balanced weapons, amazing voice acting, great music, crazy graphics and framerate, perfect sense of humor... characters that you'll never forget.. and that much various locations - only Kojima can do it in my opinion. I think EA, Ubisoft and similar big studios are wrong and forget to put a soul in many of their games.

I would say god of war 1 & 2, uncharted, cod4, and heavenly sword were all better SP games than MGS4. sorry, but yeah the 4th one was just too contrived. it got to the point where I would nod off and start day dreaming while playing it. it was still great but those other games I mentioned... man those are pure entertainment.

Re-read my comment. I didn't say anything about people who didn't like MGS. I was talking about one specific commenter names Leobebes who comes into every thread about Kojima and MGS ranting and raving with the same tired song and dance.
