Pachter: PlayStation software sales will account for 31% of all games sold worldwide in 2009

Pachter indicated in Wedbush's annual Interactive Industry Report that, while the numbers have been dwindling for PS2, overall worldwide software sales for PS3 titles have more than doubled within the last year. In 2008, 62.4 million units of PS3 software titles have been sold -- a huge step up from the 29.6 million units sold in 2007. The momentum of this growth will carry into 2009, according to Pachter, who believes PS3 and PSP titles (the latter of which only saw a 15% increase in worldwide sales last year) will pick up PS2's slack.
PS3 titles will be the top sellers, despite the fact that Pachter predicts Sony won't "secure significant third party exclusivity" as it continues "to focus its internal development efforts on blockbuster games." It's interesting to note, in light of another report, this strategy hasn't really worked out for Sony.

Back in the day CTRL+ALT+DEL did the trick. Nowadays it just brings up the Task Manager. I loved the days when it just rebooted your whole system without warning.

In vista (like windows 2000) It doesn't even bother bringing up the task manager, it brings up a menu where you CAN open the task manager instead. Good thing we have CTRL+Shift+Escape?

n.b made me laugh I ran the script with the find line changed forgot to hash out the init 0 as im sitting there, bang my machine shuts down.. I was sitting there laughing for a while -- its 9am and I aint slept yet it was funny to me anyway..

Actually you can block this on PC too just delete the temporal system32 carpet from windows it solves every problem for some reason I wonder why MS put it there to begin with.

Love how Pachter always predicting the rise of the PS3 which never seems to happen, does everyone one remember 2008 the year on the PS3 and by 2010 the PS3 will have outsold the 360?
So basically things the everyone wants a Blu Ray player as for me I own a PS3 and only use for Games and some online stuff.

As of the last game informer, the PS3 had 22 million sold to the 360's 28 million sold so the ps3 has about 18 months left to make a 6 million gap.
Its possible but extremely unlikely except with a pricecut to $299.

For reference, Nintendo currently has 57%, Sony has 25%, and Microsoft has 18% of worldwide game sales in 2009 so far. This means that Pachter expects Sony to gain 6% of worldwide game sales from its competitors during the second half of the year.
Unless Sony sells 20 million of the new PSPs before the end of the year, I don't think it will happen.

All this negativity is ridiculous. Here are numbers for console sales for both Sony and MS. These are from the companies financial reports.
Fiscal Year 2007: July 2006 - 2007
MS - 6.6 million consoles
Sony - 4.23 milliion consoles
MS has a quartar advantage for this fiscal year as the PS3 launched in Nov 2006.
Fiscal Year 2008: July 2007 - 2008
MS - 8.7 million consoles
Sony 10 million consoles
Fiscal Year 2009: July 2008 - 2009(These figures are up to March 2009)
MS - 10 million consoles
Sony 8.5 million consoles
Total sales
MS - 6.6 + 8.7 + 10 = 25.3 million sold
Sony - 4.23 + 10 + 8.5 = 22.73 million sold
Difference - 25.3 - 22.73 = 2.57 million consoles
The information provided is for sales of the PS3 and 360 from when the PS3 launched. I'm not including the year leas that the 360 has. From when the PS3 launched MS has outsold them by 2.57 million consoles. Also, the link that the author posted is for US game sales and not worldwide sales. Worldwide sales for those games are in the millions. If the 360 is dominating the PS3 than why when you look at the hard numbers from both MS and Sony the 360 only leads the PS3 by 2.57 million consoles from when the PS3 launched. MS said that they have sold 30 million worldwide so lets do those numbers.
30 - 25.3 = 4.7 million consoles sold in the year before the PS3 launched.
I'm just using 30 mil. MS has actually sold in the area of 30 - 32 according to their financial report. For future discussions used the hard numbers.
Regarding the link for 1st party PS3 games sales. When you add in the sales for games such as RE4, SF4, etc, you'll see that some big 3rd party titles are beaten by 1st party Sony titles and vice versa so the link isn't giving all the information and context.
