Suda 51 plays Burnout Paradise (a lot) more than you
Grasshopper Manfacture boss Goichi "Suda 51" Suda likes to do everything to the extreme, whether it's the ultra-violence of No More Heroes or -- as we now know -- playing other developers' games, specifically Criterion's Burnout Paradise. The British dev's head honcho, Alex Ward, issued a tweet revealing that Suda had recently popped by his studio (likely after the recent Nordic Game Conference) and is a "hardcore Burnout fan."
"Hardcore" may be an understatement, as Ward disclosed that server logs show Suda has played more than 700 hours of Burnout Paradise. So, there it is: Even more proof that Suda 51 knows great games and takes everything to the extreme. It may also explain why we haven't heard anything more about the horror title he's working on for EA alongside Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami.

Dear Joystiq:
I hope you can read this off-topic post I am going to make today. First of all, thank for making my day with your picture shops. I haven't laughed like that since yesterday night on /v/. I make this post to recommend you at least 2 things that I (and many other posters in this place) would perhaps like to see here on this site, because new is exciting.
1.- Please bring back the Daily Recap that for some reason you have stopped making since August 12, 2008, since it organizes every blog posts you have made during the day in a very convenient matter so people like me can search for the most noteworthy posts or the ones that wake my interest. Besides, with the recent site change, the posts' dates cannot be seen unless you click on them. Sure, it's not a big deal when they are in the 1-6 day range, but once the posts become a week old, it becomes rather confusing to search for a certain post of a certain date. So if you ever bring that nice feature back, I and many others would appreciate it. ^_^
2.- Please make Dead Space Girl the default avatar from now on. You know why Joystiq. You know why.
Thank you for taking your time reading this post of mine. If someone ever agrees with any of the recommendations I said, please reply or state your opinion. With your help, Joystiq might eventually turn these wishes into reality.
Have a nice day people!
Fun DMC @ Jul 1st 2009 9:09PM
I completely agree with your first point. Joystiq, it was really helpful way back when, and I think it'd be a cool thing to bring back.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jul 1st 2009 9:12PM
I liked the recap as well, whatever happened to that?
The Dark Wang(Ohyeahcola in disguise) @ Jul 1st 2009 9:14PM
joystiq listen to this man or woman or whatever IT is
VaultICEE @ Jul 1st 2009 9:19PM
I'm VaultICEE, and I agree with this message.

"2.- Please make Dead Space Girl the default avatar from now on"
No thanks...
Jawmuncher @ Jul 1st 2009 9:50PM
YES PLEASE!!!
Make Dead Space Girl the Default Avatar!!!
I'm sick of Paper Mario
Sly (of the Dead Space Face Promotion Squad) @ Jul 1st 2009 9:54PM
i agree with both points.
CtrlBurn @ Jul 1st 2009 10:09PM
Paper Mario wanks to Dead Space Girl. I have proof.
j.howlett @ Jul 1st 2009 11:02PM
i too miss the daily round up.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 1st 2009 11:22PM
Making Dead Space girl the default avatar would actually make me stop being lazy and change mine. Seriously, how is this even the slightest bit funny? It's sort of like how the south park kids laugh at all the endless terrence and phillip farts.
rambodude72 @ Jul 1st 2009 11:32PM
i agree with both of those and your sister blog engadget still has the daily recap
Desert Eagle @ Jul 1st 2009 11:58PM
Mr. Dark Wang, I am a man. I just happen to like Cave Story and find Sue as its favorite character. And before you ask, no, I don't like furries (at least when they are depicted as real people or involve ugly things).
Thank you for the positive responses by the way people. I never though I'd get that much approval. If it's possible, we should at least recommend them (mostly #1) once per day/week so Joystiq can apply them sooner or later.
Thanks again!
CaveDan @ Jul 1st 2009 9:04PM
This shit will never get old. All hail Joystiq.
mezzanine @ Jul 1st 2009 9:04PM
It's actually at the point where I can hear her scream. It's like a short banshee yelp.
mezzanine @ Jul 1st 2009 9:06PM
I'm fucking sick of your crap.
Chin-Paaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! @ Jul 1st 2009 9:06PM
So what, you created a new account just to complain? Or did Sprinkles come back already?
Van @ Jul 1st 2009 11:31PM
Your avatar is amazing.
Chin-Paaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! @ Jul 2nd 2009 12:37AM
Thank you. : D
Young_Nastyman @ Jul 1st 2009 9:07PM
I'm poppin' wheelies!!!
Jrinswand @ Jul 1st 2009 9:10PM
Dear lord. 700+ hours is pretty impressive. I still haven't played Burnout Paradise. Maybe I should give it a shot.
I mean, 700+ hours kind of speaks for itself.
Raftman @ Jul 1st 2009 9:12PM
It really is so much fun, especially during the Road Rage events.
[tre] @ Jul 1st 2009 9:28PM
Pick it up, if you're thinking about it. It's a work of freaking art.
Oh, and just buy Big Surf Island. The other packs you don't really need. I just bought them because I love the game... and cuz Criterion ROXX MY HAXORIN SOXX OFF.
Halwende @ Jul 1st 2009 9:28PM
I thought my 70 hours in Fallout 3 was alot... 700?! Woah...
Jrinswand @ Jul 1st 2009 9:40PM
Heh, I'm no stranger to ridiculous hours logged in video games. I played Oblivion for 150+ hours, Morrowind for 135~ hours (and after starting a new character again the other day, I'm hopelessly addicted again), and World of Warcraft for at least 130 hours.
As you can see, though, those are all RPGs. I can't even fathom how one would spend that sort of time on a racing game.
Yatcho @ Jul 1st 2009 9:50PM
My pokemon saphire has over 300+ hours logged in....
Sly (of the Dead Space Face Promotion Squad) @ Jul 1st 2009 9:56PM
well one time i spent an hour on online freeburn just doing donuts with friends. an hour. spinning in circles. but yeah... 700 hours is a lot.
[tre] @ Jul 1st 2009 9:10PM
That's a big fat lie. NOBODY plays Burnout more than I do! I have literally spent a cumulative total of 2 1/2 weeks in Paradise. 2 1/2 FREAKING WEEKS OF MY LIFE!
Jrinswand @ Jul 1st 2009 9:16PM
Even if that is true, Suda still has you beat by about 300 hours. 2 1/2 weeks < 700+ hours.
Livi70590 @ Jul 2nd 2009 7:00AM
There are many, many people with over 1000 hours. I myself have over 300 hours invested into the game on various saves and accounts.
Captain Obvious @ Jul 1st 2009 9:11PM

Captain Obvious has spoken.
xblingdaddy2005x @ Jul 1st 2009 9:12PM
So when does this joke officially end? I'm not complaining, but at this point, when I reload Joystiq I expect to see DSG in the fuckin logo.
Einhanderkiller @ Jul 1st 2009 10:11PM
DSG? You're only making it worse.
PS36Wii Fanboy @ Jul 1st 2009 9:12PM
LMAO. They should just have an article about DSG now.
or make a "Fake" Article about SUPER DSG GIRL WORLD 4: The Bitch Strikes Back
PS36Wii Fanboy @ Jul 1st 2009 9:13PM
Ya, I know I said Girl twice in there.
But for some reason, now that I think of it in my head. Sounds pretty hilarious
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jul 1st 2009 9:14PM
More vehicles confirmed for No More Heroes then? A beam Katana showdown while riding the bike would be sweet.
PS36Wii Fanboy @ Jul 1st 2009 9:19PM
you just got a +9000 for being the first one to write a relavant question into this article.
Though DSG is +9001
UhMilhouse @ Jul 1st 2009 9:18PM
That is an impressive lump of time.
And does anyone remember all those Michael Pachter posts? It's like they never happened. The Dead Space girl has brought us all together, even the people who claim they've had enough. No you haven't. You haven't had enough.
[tre] @ Jul 1st 2009 9:23PM
I don't wan't to do math! I'm on my summer break!
[tre] @ Jul 1st 2009 9:24PM
Darn this stupid commenting system. This is a reply to what Jrinswand said above.

tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 1st 2009 9:43PM
I would love to play Burnout that long, but the most frustrating thing about that game are the people who log online to do challenges...but suck so bad they can't do them, which holds everyone else back. I mean really, it's not that hard to jump through one of the hoops at the airport. There's always that 1 incompetent asshole who fucks it up for everyone else.
kill_strike @ Jul 1st 2009 10:13PM
yup that's true, but sadly i'm the asshole who can never do them once took me 30 mins to land a barrel roll and right after we finished the challenge i landed 2 back to back
ZeusOne @ Jul 1st 2009 9:52PM
That poor girl looks terrified riding that bike.
carg0 @ Jul 1st 2009 9:59PM
