Let's face it, Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher has traveled a rocky road. For a while he completely disappeared from the console scene. Sure, we saw him every once in a while, lurking in magazines or in a few videos (complete with Emo makeover). Now Sam has reemerged from his beloved shadows, and the developers at Ubisoft are here to share everything about his new abilities and the new features in Splinter Cell Conviction.
Check out the video above for a look at the new "mark and execute" feature as well as the "last known position" silhouette. And, of course, you can just admire Sam being a badass. Get to the watching.
Well Ubisoft has always been like that but in this case at least is something we can all agree looks awesome and looks like its going to have a solid gameplay unlike Assasssin's Creed whihc looked good but played like a tech demo.
I haven't play neither Splinter Cell or Assasins creed because I missed last gen and have my new console for a few months, but this new splinter cell looks pretty good but jeez those guys get almost annoying.
You aren't rewarded the 'Mark and Execute' ability UNLESS you approach the situation stealthily. If you try to play this like Gears of War or some fast paced action platformer... you'll likely get your ass handed to you.
Also, this game is all about how YOU decide to play the game. I've seen nothing to make me believe you couldn't play this like a classic splintercell... except now, when you fuck up and get caught, you don't turn into a total pussy and instantly die.
Before they were PUSHING the stealth a little too much by gimping your abilities. Now they're giving you the skills to make the choice yourself.
Well you have just exposed yourself as a dickhead havent you. Well done for taking my comment so literally, its a saying its plain to see its not scripted. we all know that devs are suppose to wax lyrical about their titles but it helps if they convey it in such a way that it appears natural. and you genuinly believe that that is the way the developer feels about it. to me it just looked like he was just doing his best to lay on the superlatives, which he succeeded in doing- only lamely.
I always felt that Metal Gear made the first couple "hide and seek" games, but Splinter Cell was where the first (modern, at least (Thief!)) deadly shadows came to be. Splinter Cell really played with lighting and silenced weaponry, and never once did it have a fixed camera angle.
Wow, that was a great use of the Dead Space girl. I didn't think you'd bother to put her in a video -- I was wrong to doubt your commitment to a joke, Joystiq.

Ac is from this generation.
When it was released it was huge disapointment, everything Ubisoft told us about the game was a lie but is still a decent Prince of Persia knock off.
I don't want to say I recommend it but is worth 30$ or at least a rent.
xtremeholymuffin @ Jul 1st 2009 10:02PM
It was very hit or miss, actually. A lot of people would disagree with you. Personally, I loved it, and I think it was definitely worth $60.
Jon @ Jul 1st 2009 7:54PM

expect the unexpected when dealing with DSG
chris @ Jul 1st 2009 8:22PM
allowing this to be to action focused will turn this into a average action game instead of a great stealth game
xblingdaddy2005x @ Jul 1st 2009 8:26PM
Stay on topic.
DSG is awesome.

who writes this stuff?

no one, you ass. They're talking candidly.
Are all game devs supposed to also be public speakers and professional linguists?

I really like Splinter Cell, but didn't Metal Gear invent and define the stealth, action genre?
