Developers should not be allowed to take advantage of this for the exact same reason the Go shouldn't have a second analogue stick.

Now it's looking a little better. That extra processing power should help a bit with multimedia features and internet browsing. It will probably tax the battery more, so i wonder if it can be activated when it's needed.

the release date is almost near and i think they're still trying to justify the price... or are they still improving it? just please don't become one like x360 with the 3rl, upgrade and change of the mobo. the original xbox was good dunno what happened to the x360. it's a great console though. enough 'bout them we're talking 'bout the psp go. anyways somehow i'm still pessimistic on this one. i'm not sure if many people would even buy it unless of course 'til the price drops.

Is in-game XMB really PSP Go specific? I want that feature, but would not ever spend anything over $50 on that trash.

There won't be any PSP Go exclusive games, sony know better than that to segment their PSP market like that.

However, exclusive APPLICATIONS wouldn't hurt and could see that as a possibility.

The biggest problem I have with the Go! (aside from the price) is the obstacle that this unit creates for the PSP2. It was coming at a much better rate before this thing came along and further rooted the current-gen into the ground.

Now, Sony, will want to focus on this device before they commit on bringing a new one out. It's a shame really.

They should figure out a way to let people play PS2 games on it. Seems like the processor is up to snuff now??

1. Put PS2 disc into your PC
2. Convert into PSP-Go game
3. Transfer to PSP-Go
4. Play!

I wasnt actually aware of the DSi having an increase in power. Now i find out it's got literally double the cpu speed and 4x the ram! I'll have to get one me thinks.

What? They mentioned in the conference that it has the "same great processor" or something to that effect. Maybe if they said this earlier people wouldn't bitch as much.

I'm still getting it, either way, as I really like the design and the feature set (which is mostly based on firmware, so the faster processor might mean exclusive added features down the road).

Oh well, let the whining continue!

I'm confused. Why did the initial press release state 1-333 Mhz if it actually goes to 480 Mhz?

"The original PSP (1000-3000) series include a processor capable of reaching 333MHz speeds. FCC documents reveal that the PSP Go (N1001) includes a processor that can go up to 480MHz."

I thought I herd that the God of War psp game was running at 600MHZ ? Also God of War I believe was the only title to be allowed to over clock the psp.

No man, Sony overclocked the psp so it can now work at its highest which is 333mhz

No psp game is higher then 333mhz. There designed to work at that level. God of war was designed so it can use every drop of power the psp has. If god of war required 600mhz then the psp will be very very very slow and laggy and could crash a lot.

And theres plenty of games that take advantage of the 333mhz

Now with the faster processor, I wonder if that will translate into supplying a real browser? My roomate just got an Ipod Touch and I was fooling around with it - amazing, Youtube right out of the box and a real browser that actually works. Going back to the PSP's so-called Internet access is just painful and embarrassing. So, if there is a faster processor, would that allow for a better browser to come out?

Hopefully sony will create an "App like" regulated store where homebrew developers can make the "snack sized" games they were going on about, because if they used that to their advantage they would make loads of cash and some homebrew developers out there are really talented. it's a win-win situation.

see the following for "apps" (better than ifart and baby shake) http://www.psponme.com/list_psp.asp

note: the go's browser might use the extra power and could have a newer flash player

if they increase the RAM from 64MB to say 128MB, I'll feel even more comfortable paying $250. Both CPU power and RAM would be welcomed if the thing is going to be open to apps. Plus, that would help the system multitask better.

it's the anti-sony-anything "joystiq" marketing that is sony's problem, by the way, I'm guessing the go's browser will use the extra speed and might even have a newer flash player

If Sony didn't say this in the "official" E3 unveil.....I wonder what else they didn't mention. I can understand why PSP Go specific stuff like this would not be announced at the conference (it would take away from the overall great PSP presence at the event). So now I'm very curious to see what else Sony is keeping from us? I'm getting the Go now for sure.

I just hope this new psp is clocked at 480 mhz.

Remember the article said it CAN go up to 480mhz, but that doesnt mean its clocked at that speed. It could still be at 333mhz. Your probably thinking "whats the point of adding more horsepower and not use it?" Well sony did the same thing with the psp. They kept it at 300mhz(i think) rather then 333mhz. They did it to save battery power. but along the line they bumped it up to 333mhz for better gameplay, and smoother gameplay, as well as faster loading. At the price of using more battery power.

What im hoping for, is that this psp will be clocked at 480mhz. And i do believe it is, since well..they jacking up the price due to the upgrades. And since 40% is pretty major. I really do believe this psp will be clocked at its max power. And when sony stated that the psp go! has the same battery life as the other psps (4 - 6 hours game time), They better be stating that when the psp go! is at 480mhz,

It would suck if it only lasted 4 - 6 hours on 333mhz. But when used at 480mhz. It only lasts 2 hours :(

Lets hope they improved the ram as well. 128mb is pretty good.

I often read comments on a lot of posts here - and one thing that I am always surprised is that 85% of comments are negative. Everytime something is said about a game, a console or a developper, no one seems happy - it has became sad to read comments.

instead of 'WOW a new Metal Gear , Rising, great, I am so happy!!' , I read 100 comments on a war between ps3 and xbox360 owners, like it's a religion.

instead of 'WOW a new PSP, can't wait to try it to see how it feels !! ' , I read another 100 posts about the price that is too high.. I mean, 250$ in 2009, it's ... not that much - just compare the price of the PSP Go and the iPhone and see what's better for you. Chances are the price will drop so just wait a little after the lauch.

Why can't we share more positive and constructive comments more often? Why don't we do fun things - like, for example , probably everyone has a copy of GTA4, why can't a joystiq editor do a post to organize a weekly online race where everyone can leave their PSN id and someone can invite them for a fun race - what's better than smashing someone with a firetruck in Stars in your eyes track??

We could do the same for MGO, people often say it's too hard to play online, well, why don't we organize a little someting with average readers of joystiq that are levels 3 or 4?

I am sure it was fun to photoshop all those pictures to put a face on it.. , but this precious time could be used to organize something to make the ps3 community happier and stronger. Well, just my opinion ! =)

I'm sure once they've sold enough, they'll start making games that only work with PSPGo ( and DSi for that matter ), taking advantage of the increased CPU speed.

Just think of it as how George Lucas is waiting for saturation point of Blu-ray players on the market before he releases the Blu-ray Starwars boxset!

PS. I would not be surprised if they bundle a Gran Turismo download code with the PSPGo at launch!?
