Suda 51: next No More Heroes won't be on Wii

Awesome news for No More Heroes fans: creator Suda 51 told Edge that he wants to continue the series. "I really want to make NMH a big franchise," he said, "and with this second episode have bigger success."

Slightly less awesome news for certain No More Heroes fans: if the series does continue past Desperate Struggle, it probably won't be on the Wii. "I think this is the last NMH that is going to be developed on Wii," Suda said. "To expand NMH to new possibilities, we need a new platform. Wii is a great platform, but we've done everything we can with it now."

Recent comments from Suda suggest that he's looking toward the Natal-enhanced Xbox 360 for at least one future project -- and No More Heroes was originally planned as a 360 game. Perhaps he's realized that charging Travis Touchdown's beam saber could be made even more embarrassing without a Wiimote prop.

In any case, it may be a bummer for Wii-only gamers, but at least if No More Heroes comes out on one of the other consoles, the "hardcore" types will be able to admit it's wonderful without having to say something nice about the Wii.

Sounds good. Hopefully this jump in platforms helps him improve everything that made the original bad. He better keep the art style though.

Yeah, didn't you know they do exist here and it is a great place were good games sell and where consoles made for babies with their baby games don't exist. It's fantastic I tell ya!

I get that you hate the Wii and you thought this would be a good opportunity to bash it but you're not making much sense. The only reason there's an NMH2 (and possibly NMH3) on the way is because NMH DID manage to sell well on the Wii. And you're also calling the Wii a baby console with baby games while discussing NMH which doesn't make much sense. Obviously there's a lot a family/kids games on the Wii but those games exist for every console. I would make you a nice list of all the non-"baby games" for Wii but you would still choose to be ignorant so I'm not wasting my time with that.

A dick move indeed, lanceyami. NMH is Suda's best selling game and he has Wii owners to thank for that. I feel like he just gave me the finger. Can't say I don't envy you for having a 360, though. I'm gonna have to skip NMH3.

That wasn't really meant to be funny but I guess you're just bitter over my reply to your previous post. I'm anticipating you back-peddling again and saying that you weren't being sarcastic this time so no, I have never considered being a comedian. Now please stop acting like a douche.

They'd probably have to put the first two in the package, since those people who own the other next-gen consoles have a sort of obligation to hate the Wii and can therefore never play it.

It'd be nice to see a high-resolution version, I guess? I don't really care, it's all cel-shaded.

I am proud NMH fan (best game on the Wii, and a damn rock solid, fun as hell game on its own), and as such I can easily understand Suda's desire to evolve the franchise beyond the extraordinarily limited Wii hardware, which is now with the advent of superior motion sensory technology rapidly accelerating towards obsolescence.

Bring me No More Heroes 360 baby. We know it has to be on the horizon, what with NMH being a 360 game initially to begin with coupled with Suda's recent showering of praises upon Natal, its a natural move, and I for one stand fully behind it.

It makes both perfectly logical sense from a business perspective (wouldn't you want to create games for a platform where you actually will have a mass receptive audience?) and a on purely creative, technological standpoint, its a no brainer.

The second NMH is coming in what, 2010? So the third one would come out in 2012... The new genereation will be already out. :/

I don't care what direction this game takes. It deserves success as a franchise.

I'm going to be honest, Playing a game like No More Heroes without a controller will just look retarded. I draw the line at motion controls with a few buttons.

So sad for Suda, but his franchise won't make profit on PS360.

Ugh. I have a 360, so I'll be able to play the third one (if there is a third one) when it comes out, but the idea of playing it with Natal is sickening. I can't believe people who complain so much about getting tired while playing the Wii are turning around and saying how much fun it's going to be to jump around on a twister board and do Dance Dance Revolution moves WHILE playing Gears of War 3.

*Sigh* I was hoping that no More Heroes would always be a Nintendo exclusive. And then Travis Touchdown could be in the next Smash Bros.

Travis wouldve been GREAT in a Smash Bros game :(
