Heads up, COG soldiers. Epic's Gears of War 2 has just received its highly-anticipated fourth Title Update. The new update not only adds experience to Horde mode, but also fixes a variety of bugs, according to the update notes on the Gears forums. Aside from fixing some issues with the new cringe-inducing smoke grenades, the new update also tweaks the Wingman match type, doing away with some of the issues involving weapon spawning and a particularly nasty exploit where players could get credit for two kills while only killing one opponent.
Hopefully, this will fix some of the persistent issues plaguing Gears of War 2's online component. So, grease up your Lancer and head out into battle. This weekend is chock full of XP, after all!
[Thanks, Paul!]

EPIC,
Use dedicated servers for Gears of War 2!!!
Lag is soooooo annoying,
I'm pretty sure it's worse for people like me that are customers outside of the States.
I'm pretty sure every other game in the top 10 Live played list uses dedicated servers.
Epic = Epic Fail.

totally agree dude, they could have made the multiplayer flawless and got rid of hundreds of bugs if they just spent some money to make dedicated servers.
intead they are paying their staff for nearly a year to come out with title updates spending millions more in development costs.
look at left 4 dead which has a considerably smaller amount of users, yet valve still used dedicated servers for its 360 customers. THAT is why l4d still stays in the top 10 played games and gears 2 is barely hanging on even though it sold millions more copies than other games on the list.
learn from your mistakes and support your fans or you will get fucked next time.

It's amazing to think how long ago this game came out and it's had so many problems.
Sigh, I'll give it another go.

I've been playing since it came out and barely noticed any of these issues that are supposedly such a plague. Bitching about Gears 2 multiplayer is pretty outdated.
That said, I'm really happy they've added XP to Horde. It's far and away my favorite mode to play online.

This new update brings a 2 things i don't like even a bit. First, the hammer burst is even more powerful, you need to be really for from the point that is falling to not be killed, even if you are under something it will mostly kill if your too close. The second is the time you stay down when launching a mortar, it takes too long to get up, does it really need to be that way? It was good like it was before.

As a true Gears fan, it's the only game I've been playing consistantly since its release. Sure, this game is absolutely riddled with bugs, cheaters, unsportsmanlike, and lag (to say the least), but when I'm host everyone is actually happy. My 25mb/s connection can actually support people unlike the stupid selector that Epic has in place, that usually selects the person who is still running America Online as the host.

The additional time it takes to reload or get up after launching a mortar fruckin' SUX. SERIOUSLY, EPIC, that was NOT a bug that needed to be fixed, wtf?
I've never heard a SINGLE PERSON online complain about the amount of time it takes to reload or launch a mortar. That decision was effing retarded.
