Hey, someone's making Two Worlds II
So this is kinda confusing, try to roll with us. Developer Reality Pump announced that it's working on Two Worlds II, due this winter. Only ... it had already announced a sequel to Oblivion-esque FPS RPG called Two Worlds: The Temptation. We're pretty sure the team just decided to go with the number instead of the subtitle, but we guess we'll never know. (OK, so the story's a bit weirder than we thought.)
Set two years after the original, TW II promises "completely overhauled AI and balancing standards, experienced authors, [an] active combat system and the brand-new engine." Here's hoping the changes can make the sequel not so ... you know ... wretched?

Oh, I got confused. Apparently this isn't about tutu worlds :(
Hydrophobicfish @ Jul 3rd 2009 10:55PM
No, it's four worlds.
dark_inchworm (on Steam!) dark inchworm (on XBL!) @ Jul 3rd 2009 10:55PM
If they seriously dropped the original name for simply "Two Worlds 2," they are... challenged. That's almost as bad as the potential "Army of Two 2."
In its defense, though, the original wasn't TOO bad... after a patchin'.
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 3rd 2009 10:57PM
I hope these authors dare not pollute thine game with dialogue afoul forsooth.
finnith @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:40PM
Yea verily!
Nightbug @ Jul 4th 2009 12:12AM
The English voice acting on Two Worlds was only tolerable thanks to its laughable translation/embellishment.
Sadly, the rest of the game was less tolerable
Mazrael @ Jul 4th 2009 2:39PM
If you stuttered all the way to the ending.. turns out the lead guy only has eyes for his sister... So that's why he needed to save her so... I could of lost my lunch to that ending..
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:00PM
Well, you can only go up right? Two Worlds was one of the 5 worst games I've played this gen, along with (pre-analog patch) Lair, Haze, Too Human, and Enchanted Arms.
It promised so much in early previews, that I was actually more excited for it than Oblivion but it was beyond terrible :(
MikeO. @ Jul 4th 2009 12:59AM
I found Too Human and Two Worlds to be two (no pun intended) of my favorite games this gen. But then again, we don't agree on much.
They both try hard, but fall on their faces, but have tons of depth... you just have to get past their technological faceplants.

Ghen @ Jul 4th 2009 6:28AM
Too human was a fun game. Not as good as it could have been, but for a game to go stale like that in development for years it ended up all right. Definitely waiting for a sequel on it. Never played Two worlds.
modified @ Jul 5th 2009 1:15AM
Too Human didn't have depth. I beat the game and it was far from the deep end. It was sitting in the kiddie pool soaking in warm piss.
Tyler @ Jul 6th 2009 1:33AM
Enchanted Arms was pretty great for the first RPG released this generation. It's not nearly as bad as you say...
LaughingTarget @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:03PM
I hold great sorrow for those who were suckered into buying this game in enough quantities to promote a sequel.
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:32PM
i remember in the original OXM article waaaay before it came out that reality pump is made up of a lot of actual rocket scientists, so i guess it's self funded " /
Nadril @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:07PM
2x2 Worlds.
racingfreak92 @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:09PM
Best part is this author probably didnt even play the game. Two Worlds on PC was actually pretty good. It was pretty shallow but a good game.
Dialogue in the first game was painful and i hope they really are balancing the game. In the first game players who picked to be archers were so much more powerful
J.Goodwin @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:12PM
It was technically very poor, but underneath all the bad voice acting and poorly implemented graphics was a really interesting game, actually. Unlike, say, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.
ryanpaulmcgowan @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:21PM
Are you talking about the Console game? If so, I agree.
If you're talking about the PC game, you're a tard.
racingfreak92 @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:25PM
Dark Messiah was great on pc but buggy. On console it was a disaster
J.Goodwin @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:28PM
Disaster doesn't even begin to describe it in my view. It's the worst 360 game that I've played from start to finish, and I can't even tell you WHY I DID IT.
Dethgar @ Jul 4th 2009 3:20AM
DMMM on PC was good for multi-player, its hard to find good matches though.
Kagebutsu @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:44PM
Really? Wasn't the first two worlds shitty enough for them.
NukeAssault @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:47PM
Where did they get the money for this? =|
Kattleox @ Jul 4th 2009 12:05AM
HOW MANY VOICE ACTORS DOES IT HAVE?
A) 0-5
B) 5-10
C) >10
If the answer is "C", then Two Worlds has my attention, and a valuable feature TES IV didn't.
Razor_1138 @ Jul 4th 2009 12:48AM
How many people test played Tow Worlds before launching game.....A, leaning more towards that big 0.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 4th 2009 10:53AM
They can have 1000 different voice actors, but if they all speak like they did in Two Worlds 1 then it really doesn't matter how many they have.
soccerdude21490 @ Jul 4th 2009 12:13AM
I hope this one is better, I wanted to like the first one, but it was just too hard! I think it just got bit by the hype bug when people were comparing it to Oblivion, because it was DEFINITELY not Oblivion!
Delirium @ Jul 4th 2009 12:15AM
They should just remake the first game because no one will know the storyline of the first. Unless you were either THAT bored or read a synopsis online or something.
Max @ Jul 4th 2009 12:41AM
I literally just picked up two worlds on pc (ten bucks for a new collectors edition of a game my old pc can handle well? fuck yeah i'm buying it) and mayhaps the dialogue sucks, but i honestly would give it a seven. It might be kinda shallow, but it didn't have as many annoying things as TES (ie, five voice actors, boring main quest, the majority of the game being useless, like caves with an imp and a chest)
Max @ Jul 4th 2009 12:43AM
To clarify that, i mean the core game is worse, but there are less things to rant about in two worlds then there is in oblivion
Dethgar @ Jul 4th 2009 3:22AM
Aye, Oblivion is best played with lots of community mods. I've only played Two Worlds on 360, may try it on PC.
Razor_1138 @ Jul 4th 2009 12:45AM
The fail because they don't copy TES franchise. If it was a clone, maybe the game would be playable. Nothing like creating your character in TW and in the opening cut scene it's not who you just created, I also didn't know opening a door was a mini game.
bak @ Jul 4th 2009 12:58AM
The framerate of Two Worlds was so weird and uneven that I had to play it via peripheral vision in order to not get sick. I wanted to love that game but MAYHAP it just wasn't worth it. First and only game that ever made me sick... Hear it was patched and made smoother but alas it was too late - I returneth it.
SomeGuy @ Jul 4th 2009 1:34AM
All I think about when I think about this game now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iithGqPB328
Ghen @ Jul 4th 2009 6:32AM
After working retail (not gamestop) for 2 years its just not funny. People do that and they're actually serious. For dumber reasons too.
Sylath @ Jul 4th 2009 1:58AM
Seriously? did you actually play all the way through that game? The endgame made me want to beat the crap out of the nearest thing closest to me. Balance was not an issue to whoever made that steaming pile.
Sylath @ Jul 4th 2009 2:01AM
Okay... that was meant for Dark_Inchworm. Gotta love the reply system here.
Nobledevil @ Jul 4th 2009 3:46AM
Wretched is a good word for it - I'll stick with that and not bother making an original comment.
Neo Asuma @ Jul 4th 2009 5:24AM
"Two Worlds II: Four Worlds & Beyond"
Edward @ Jul 4th 2009 9:58AM
Two Worlds was not a hard game. I guess you just got killed by the wolves or the three orcs in the beginning of the game and quit.
It was not a perfect game by any means. It was enjoyable if you looked past the flaws. The people at Reality Pump took the criticism from the game seriously.
spirit1969 @ Jul 4th 2009 11:44AM
Whoah, that is exactly what I did. Killed by orcs and wolves early on then never played it anymore. Stopped because of the death but I also had some other games I really wanted to play at the time. When I first bought it I thought it was crap then it reminded me of when the 3D MMORPG's started up..had that feel to me just a single player version.
Even if I thought it was terrible and hated it I still wouldn't complain too much considering I bought it brand new cheaper than what it would be to rent. Seven or nine bucks.
WINterfang @ Jul 4th 2009 10:34AM
Watch out for the TAINT.
Coldbrand @ Jul 4th 2009 12:06PM
Why?
hfm @ Jul 4th 2009 12:14PM
I had fun with two worlds. very ambitious for a small studio and quircky.
MAYHAP!

serotoninzero. @ Jul 4th 2009 2:16PM
Man, Two Worlds was such a waste of time and money. I didn't buy it though. Rented it on gamefly. I laughed during the opening cutscene but then almost cried when I got to the gameplay. Yuck.
ted.clark23 @ Jul 4th 2009 2:43PM
@Winterfang
You beat me to it.
I was going to say
Oh, great. Two Worlds 2. Another opportunity to lick The Taint.
bvhj @ Jul 4th 2009 6:22PM
I really hope its as bad as the first one, if it is, day one purchase for me!
