To be clear, Frozenbyte spokesman Joel Kinnunen wasn't saying that the company's fantasy action platformer itself is a mess, but everything surrounding it -- like price point disparity between regions and territories -- has become quite the kerfuffle.
The problem, apparently, is that Trine started life as PC game before migrating to PSN and (maybe) XBLA. While that may be good for getting the game to as many people as possible, it's not ideal for a game launch.
"Trine as a project is a big mess," Kinnunen said, "as opposed to Trine as a game, which is pretty sweet. Ultimately it's the game part that really matters and helps us sleep at night, though."

However big a mess it was to produce, the game is awesome fun.

Yeah it's out on PC but we don't have a PS3 release date yet.
I think that Punisher FPS was the only game that came out on yesterdays update.

At the end of the day if the game is good (I'm pretty sure it's awesome) none of this side chatter will be relevant. I know people aren't happy about it but it doesn't seem like the developer is enjoying itself either. If the game is a kick ass retail experience in digital form (as has been said) then it will be worth every penny.

Looks good but for $30? I want a disc. Download only I usually don't go for more than $20. I'm interested in playing it but not at the price point they're asking...

Why is that? If you download it from Steam, you have the game on your account forever. If anything, a digital download has more value to me than a disc that can get scratched over time or destroyed by a defective dvd player or lost. Then again, I'm not a big fan of reselling my game at a rip off price and that's basically the only thing you can't do with a digital purchase.
If the game's good, the price is always right.

If you're really worried about that just backup the game files onto a disc. Valve have said though that they'd make Steam games available if they were ever to go down.

I'm a Mac user w/o Windows so a console download is going to be my way to play this game. But xoonaka makes a point too.
It's just too high a value proposition for a digital download that's essentially a 2D plaftorm/strategy game with great art. It'll drop in price eventually and I'll play it then... just knowing the PSN and XBLA environments pricing history, the eventual cut will take waaay to long to implement. Steam is usually much better in choosing how and when they put things on sale I think.

Just read that the PSN release will be $20. That's a fair asking price I think.

The demo was sweet. It's a beautiful looking game. Game play kind of reminded me of the Lost Vikings. How each character's ability had to be used for certain situations. If this comes out for XBL. This is an instance buy!

Downloaded and played the demo today. I was very impressed with almost all aspects of this game. Very nice looking, plays well, nice use of the different characters, good puzzles, etc...
I guess my only complaint is that I don't think I enjoy mixing these two kinds of game genres. I either want a puzzle game, or a good adventure game, but I found myself wanting either more of one, or more of the other. It seemed almost like the puzzle solving was slowing down the action, or that the action was interfering with the puzzle solving. Don't get me wrong, this seems like a great game, and I'm sure most people will thoroughly enjoy it, but I guess I'm one of the few who just don't care for the juxtaposition of these two genres.
