Mega Man demo released for Atari 2600

The brief demo is an impressively faithful translation of the NES game's mechanics, with Mega Man running, jumping and shooting just as you'd expect (though shooting is mapped to down on the joystick, because the 2600 only has one button). The demake ends at the Elec Man fight, which is even harder in this version than it is in the original. A playthrough of the entire demo follows after the break.

Well, time to dust of the ol' 2600. Oh wait, I don't have one.
Either way, this is pretty awesome.

I'm surprised how awesome the Atari version of Elec Man's music sounds. Then again the badassery of that song transcends space and time.

how about goldeneye demade for the NES? that would be awesome.
Chris Gardner @ Jul 6th 2009 7:35PM
Ok, I grew up in the NES/SNES/N64 era. Making Goldeneye be this incredible, awesome game has to stop. It's in the same league as Final Fantasy 7. Good game. One of the better ones in that generation. WAY overrated.
Heavytoka @ Jul 6th 2009 7:42PM
@ Chris Gardner
Goldeneye is in no way Overrated!
Anthology @ Jul 6th 2009 7:56PM
Yes it is.
Goldeneye aged terribly.
Sly @ Jul 6th 2009 8:05PM
i never said it was godly or anything, i just said i wanted to see an NES version. way to overreact dude...
Shmil @ Jul 6th 2009 8:08PM
Says you, I still play it often. Just because technology has improved doesn't mean that the game doesn't age well. Yeah those enemies were retarded but they're still hilarious. To me it is the funniest game ever. Whenever a bullet hits an enemy they make a slight noise. An "uh" or "ug" usually, but it happens everytime. And when you enter a room with 4 guys and unload 2 RCP90's into them all you hear is the gunfire and wave of "oo! ah! oh! ug! uh! wa! eh! oo! aah! etc." Then there's the silly animations for when they are hit or trying to avoid being shot.
So because graphics, game physics, and AI improve a game doesn't age well?
Shmil @ Jul 6th 2009 8:14PM
@Chris, of course its not the greatest game ever, but its a damn good game. I'm sure there is some game you played when you were young that was a lot of fun and you adored. Tell me that old game doesn't still have a place in your heart.

There IS a NES, pirate version of Final Fantasy VII which, actually, is a pretty good demake. Look it up!
