No need to flame anything. The general populace has horrendous taste, we've known this for a while now.

I was just waiting for all the Nintendoits to come in here spewing comments such as,

"Hal0 is teh suxx0rZzz!!!1!11"
"Call of D0oki3 has cheesburg3r"
"pS3 is teh ghey"
"Xb0t fanb0iz R the Lam3orz!11!!!!!!!!!!1!"

Then I realized the ad was about gaming in the UK. Apparently Nintendo fanboys aren't THAT stupid.

No surprise here. It's not by coincidence they've been in gaming since 1983.

Umm? The implication here is that Captain Planet is gay, then?

Having said that, I've also found that many Wii fans bring out the old "only shooters on 360 and PS3" chestnut, ignoring the excellent but more 'niche' games (Viva Pinata, Valkyria Chronicles etc) on both platforms. Yet at the same time all Wii haters are mocked for being unable to see beyond Wii Fit and Sports and enjoy gems like Zak and Wiki, and MP3: Corruption.

Just saying that the hypocrisy is working both ways, so while the Wii haters should be rightfully scorned for their short-sightedness, it's undeniable that the 360/PS3 gets a similar kind of ignorant mockery.

Not that anybody in this thread has done it; the thought was just spurred by Roto's response to Captain Planet.

Just talking about the changes to the word "casual" over the years. I find it funny how it started out that Halo was for the casuals, and now FPS/TPS is the dominant genre on consoles.

The only people who said Halo was for casuals were bitter PC fanboys that were angry shooters on consoles...and consoles in general were taking over.

I personally said from the day it came out it's an awfully generic game, and I maintain that stance to this day.

You are fully aware that all the games in the list are good games, right? Especially Professor Layton. Even Wii Play is good, considering it only cost £5.

This would only be facepalm if games like Pets Hotel were in the list. Be more informed when trying to cuss other countries.

1. Wii Fit

2. Wii Play

3. Mario Kart Wii

Those are terrible games. Some you can't even call games. Wii Play could be free like Wii Sports and it would still be terrible.

That's the funny part, isn't it? It used to be Halo was the poster child for the generic hardcore game, now Halo is considered colorful and almost cartoony, because we've reached a far greyer standard of hardcore

Killzone is a good example of that.

I haven't played Wii Play, but I think the consensus is that it sucks. Still, it's considered a game, and people buy it for the remote. That's just going to be an expected staple of the charts as long as the Wii is selling.

Wii Fit is a good game. Reviews say as much. It appeals to a wide range of people. I don't play mine anymore, but I will say that it is responsible for getting me interested in fitness, so that's a good thing.

Mario Kart Wii, while not being as good as previous Mario Karts, is still a quality game.

The more I think about it, the more Killzone 2 sucks. The characters, enemies and weaponry were generic and boring, there was too much goddamn smoke everywhere and the ending put the ending of Assassin's Creed to shame. And you know what? I never got an "oh shit" moment from the graphics like I did for Gears of War. What a waste when I could have been playing Valkyria Chronicles or LBP.

i liked killzone 2, but it definitely wasn't the second coming of the FPS christ. it was enjoyable and the multiplayer was good while it lasted, especially the clan system. my outstanding problem with killzone was the replay value. the multiplayer was pretty much the only incentive to keep playing and a lot of people left over time. overall, i would give it a 8/10. beautiful, but more or less average everywhere else.

Mario Kart wii is great if you're a child who isn't looking for any sort of real challenge. They've turned it into a strictly casual only franchise now, which is a shame because 64 was so fun back in the day.
