An inside source close to Joystiq has informed us
LucasArts is bringing a brand new game (imagine that!) to
XBLA, coinciding with the company's
focus on downloadable releases as of late. Dubbed
Lucidity, this title is described as a kind of side-scrolling adventure ... with a twist. Instead of controlling the main character, Sofi, in the traditional manner, players instead place certain objects in her path as she independently navigates the gameworld. As she runs into these objects, she will use them to tackle whatever obstacle is in her way.
The game will definitely have a fantasy element to it, as it supposedly takes place inside of Sofi's head while she's looking for her grandmother. Let's just hope there's no big bad wolf waiting at grandma's to gobble her up, though.
Stay tuned for further developments -- or please hit up
our tips line if you've got additional details.

So it's like Eets?
Benny @ Jul 7th 2009 6:24PM
exactly what i was going to write. Eets is great, such an unappreciated XBLA title.
LaughingTarget @ Jul 7th 2009 6:48PM
I was thinking Lemmings, but that works, too.
Kevlar @ Jul 7th 2009 7:21PM
Well, you interact directly with the Lemmings (not moving them, but yeah).
It is a lot more like Eets.
BunnySlapper @ Jul 7th 2009 6:24PM
Wait, Sofi is hunting her grandmother?
That's one twisted game.

When I was in that half sleep - half awake - state in the morning about a week ago I had a dream/idea of a game where Mario is running through a standard 2-D mario style level and it was my job to plays and Bowser and control the enemies I sent his way. There was two ways of playing - the first where I was given a certain amount of coin to spend and I would place the enemies ahead of time, and the second where it was played live and each type of enemy allowed in the level had a wait meter; when it was filled I could launch that person onto the screen. Bigger characters took longer to load, and smaller shorter. When I clicked on one of them then the counter would reset for all.
So...long story short, this game reminds me of that idea. I will prolly have to borrow somebody’s 360 when it comes out.

get on Kodu and make that!
Wonderflex @ Jul 7th 2009 7:24PM
I would love to, but for various personal reasons I refuse to purchase a 360 new or purchase anything off of Live Marketplace. Is Kodu going to be a stand alone game or is it a downloadable title with a required pay account to Live? If it's stand alone then I may get a used 360 and pick up the game used when it comes out. I think it's a brilliant idea (Kodu that is - not necissarily my idea).

It sounds like a neat idea in theory, but there's a problem:
The game would either be very easy, or boil down to chance. There wouldd be no skill involved.
Very easy:
Place all your enemies in a wall, so Mario can't get by.
Time your enemy launch to hit him every time.
Completely Chance:
CPU Mario randomly "decides" to hit an enemy, out of interest for fairness to the player.
The only way it would work as a game, is to have another player play Mario. Then the person would make human mistakes, and could be genuinely fooled.. but it goes back to chance if the player is very good anyways.
I always found navigating the terrain was the greater challenge in Mario than facing enemies was, but even a game where you edit the levels for a CPU Mario would run into similar problems.

To answer your question:
Kodu is 400 MS Points, and I don't think it is going to be released in boxed form.

@ Wonderflex
You don't need a Live subscription to buy games off the 360 marketplace. All you need is the points, an active internet connection and a free silver subscription.
Wonderflex @ Jul 8th 2009 11:59AM
Kevlar - it would work just fine and not be up to chance at all. It would be just the same as playing smart AI in any other game. Also, enemies in Mario move, so after you place them, or send them onto the screen, they would go into auto-pilot. Meh - all of this doesn't matter though, seeing how A) It's was a dream and B) Mario is a licensed character for Nintendo.

Sounds like fun, Can't wait to hear more!
KylHu @ Jul 7th 2009 7:02PM
Kind of reminds me of PacMan 2: the New Adventures. That game was hilarious.
Ravnos @ Jul 7th 2009 9:27PM
I'm not sure I understand this correctly. Where exactly in the Star Wars universe does Sofi fit in?

lemmings!
