Funimation has obtained the rights to the
anime series based on Sega's upcoming DS RPG,
Sands of Destruction. Funimation plans to begin airing the first thirteen-episode season of the
Production I.G-produced anime in spring of 2010. Like the DS game, the show stars a kid named Kyrie who gets drawn into a secret organization determined to
destroy the world -- in order to free humans from subjugation.
In the same press release announcing the anime deal, Sega offered a January 2010 release date for the DS game itself. The game was first announced for North American release in December of last year. There's something kind of nostalgic about waiting over a year for the translation of an RPG.

Funny, I saw it and tough "Wiki is back, sans Zack" :D
LaughingTarget @ Jul 7th 2009 10:58AM
You're all wrong. If you note the bandana, he is clearly an initiate in the Ultramarines Space Marine chapter. His initiation test is to infiltrate this odd planet as an anthromorphic bear and live among the natives to plan for the future purging of the heretics. By the glory of the Emperor!

It's Winnie the Pooh ;o!
KingOfHearts @ Jul 7th 2009 9:36AM
Wasn't Kyrie the name of Nero's lover in DMC4?

AWw, a Pirate Teddy Bear, how cute.
eight @ Jul 7th 2009 9:42AM
Look at that pirate bear! I hope it has a deep scratchy voice and contributes to conversation rather than just repeating its own name over and over again.
Bubbameister33 @ Jul 7th 2009 9:58AM
+ 1 eight. I hope his name is "Booty" and he says that over and over again.
dgonchild @ Jul 7th 2009 11:51AM
The bear talks, and hates being called a teddy bear.
Leroy_Octopus @ Jul 7th 2009 9:42AM
Well the plot sounds better than every other JRPG, so I'm on board.

Question isn't this a little strange to announce an Anime of a game that isnt even out yet? I mean in Valkyria Chronicles sake it was a great game that didnt sell much once that one month price drp and the anime came out sales for the game sky rocketed.....but the game was good.
What if the game is bad =O? Not judging it before its out but =O
Storm Eagle::The Blood Edge @ Jul 7th 2009 10:01AM
Can you honestly look at that Pirate Bear and say with conviction that this game/show isn't going to be good.
You underestimate the power of the Pirate Bear.
-Vexx- @ Jul 7th 2009 10:37AM
You know...I cant argue that logic
dgonchild @ Jul 7th 2009 11:52AM
The anime came out ages ago... in Japan. It's known as World Destruction.
Girugamuk (Moptimus Slimed) @ Jul 7th 2009 12:18PM
this is made by the team that made Arc Rise and Luminous Arc, so its pretty much guaranteed to be awesome
sam @ Jul 7th 2009 7:22PM
@giragu - OK, but with all those Arcs going on, please tell me it's not by the same team that made Arc the Lad, because that was shite.
(OK, I only watched the anime - er some of it - and didn't play the game.)

That picture really got my hopes up by thinking that Wiki was coming back in some form. :)
Smoke_me_a_Kipper @ Jul 7th 2009 10:25AM
I saw this anime, based on the game. The Bear was the best part.
PedoJokerBear (aka Deeznuts) @ Jul 7th 2009 10:45AM
word. i only remember seeing the first episode and then it disappearing, but i was intrigued.
Smoke_me_a_Kipper @ Jul 7th 2009 11:04AM
It was called World destruction - 13 eps all were fan-subbed. not sure if it was licensed. The Dragon girl was intriguing. It was OK, not the worst but not as good as it could have been.
IIRC the bear ended EVERYTHING with by saying kuma.
acefondu @ Jul 7th 2009 10:58AM
Yes, I've been waiting for this one! Mitsuda did the music and Masato ala Xenogears did the scenario writing. It should be a great game.
Ryan A @ Jul 7th 2009 11:05AM
Okay, this sounds good. I hope that the anime will be aired on Cartoon Network.
WINterfang @ Jul 7th 2009 11:15AM
I watch the Anime a long time ago and it's very different than what appears to be, it's more like a comedy.
Quattro @ Jul 7th 2009 3:36PM
Why exactly did they change the name from World Destruction to Sands of Destruction for localisation?
