Media Molecule's Alex Evans told GamesIndustry.biz recently that he would "love there to be a sequel" to LittleBigPlanet. "If you look at online distribution for LBP, when the sequel comes along, what do we do with all that content? We can give [consumers] backwards compatibility with those levels." It looks like Evans sees a sequel as inevitable, though he's keen to say that currently everyone at Mm is still working on LBP.
Evans also mentions that a demo for LittleBigPlanet will be released soon, allowing people who still haven't picked it up a chance to try it out. It's unclear whether any of the almost 2 million user generated levels will be playable in the demo, but it should "capture [the game's] essence." More additions to the game are also on the way, such as one that was originally planned for the game, but axed along the way -- sharing objects in a similar way to sharing levels. More features -- "changing the tools themselves, and changing how you share -- are coming."

My only negative comment about LBP: the jumping. The jumping needs to be fixed.

It must have taken me 100 attempts to get through that Wheel of Death level - the jumping controls were just awful for the amount of quickness and precision that part required.

I just hope the sequel isn't too soon. I just want them to continue supporting the game with new mechanics instead of costume packs.
Also, I wonder if the demo is the one that is available at the Walmart display PS3s?

I know Media Molecule has an exclusivity agreement in place with Sony to make something like 3 or 4 new IP's. So, I don't think the next title from Media Molecule is going to be a sequel to Little Big Planet. I'm expecting them to support the original with more DLC and expansions levels than make a direct sequel. We will see a sequel eventually but I think it will be after their next game releases.
I'm kind of wondering if their new IP is going to be in that play, create, share genre they essentially created. I'm pretty sure it won't be something way out there like a FPS or RPG but I'm kind of expecting a platformer or something in the mold of LBP/ModNation Racers.

It's great that they want to make LBP2 with backwards compatability. I hope that they do not rush LBP2 though, there's no need too. They should continue making more level packs a la MGS and support it that way and with cheaper costumes. The prices for costume packs are slightly ridiculous. I can't see it costing a lot of money (unless they are paying companies for usage rights) to make a helmet or whatever. I would like to see more costume manipulation in LBP2.. as well as a 3d world.

I don't ever see it happening. Sony owns the IP and there is no way in hell I can see them spending time and resources to port/release the game over to the PC. It doesn't make much sense from a fiscal perspective and it also removes one of their biggest exclusive titles from their hardware. It's supposed to be one of those games that entices people to consider buying a PS3 ... that would be even less likely if it were on the PC.
If you want LBP you have to get a PS3 or a PSP.

In the sequel I would like to see more of a focus on refining the controls and physics seeing as they pretty much have the level creation nailed. Maybe tweak the graphics a little bit to remove that nasty screen tearing that happened when you passed through more than one light source and optimize it to reduce FPS drops in community levels.
I think they did a good job of having a decent narrative that didn't take itself too seriously and was enjoyable so looking forward to what they have in the sequel.

If they want to do LBP2 for a new story mode, they could just as easily release DLC of any new levels they would put on BD. Unless their changing major things like the physics engine that controls the game and etc., theres no need for LBP2. I would welcome another downloadable story mode to LBP1 as apposed to releasing LBP2. Hell, I would welcome any DLC thats not a costume or a sticker.
As far as getting the jumping right, MM did the jumping perfect. Its physics based platforming and thats the way it should be.

This game has some of the best designs around. It's too bad it hasn't sold as it should. A sequel would be welcomed and with backwards compatibility it's a bonus.
Perfect game for anyone wanting Marioish/Nintendo like creatable fun on a PS3.

It's funny because the perception when it first released was that it was a total failure because initial sales weren't great. The game has now sold over 2 million units world wide (2.25 MIL) and no telling how much revenue generated through DLC.
I remember saying to some of the Nintendo guys here (Khan, Samfish) that this would be the one PS360 game to buck the trend of sales falling off after release. They said it would never happen and that it's not any different than other PS360 games ... only Nintendo games have long legs etc ... But, in the end the sales have actually increased over time and I would bet by the end of the year it will be pushing close to the 3 million mark. Actually, the same thing could also be said for the first Uncharted game in terms of sales. Look at the sales of Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Ratchet And Clank, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Heavenly Sword etc as games that follow the usual cycle of sales declines after a big first week.
On thing that kind of surprises me is how poorly the Resistance & Motorstorm sequels did compared to the original iterations. Especially considering they were both superior in nearly every way. Maybe because there wasn't as much selection at launch as there is now ... anyway ... point is that sales of LBP haven't been all that bad but I agree they should have been much better considering the quality of the game itself.

Interesting. Being able to still play community levels from LPB 1 in LPB 2 is a win.

Exactly, I would imagine this game on the 360 or Wii, even if the game couldn't remain as it is now and had to be watered down, would have been a HUGE success out of the gate. Sadly the PS3 for too many reasons, external and/or internal, can't seem to generate a consistent and true sales amount that would generate what say other high profile games such as GTAIV or COD:MW can.
I chock it up to not enough users who agree on the same games in that market. Some genres just do better other all platforms. But this game, LBP is beautiful, well crafted and designed to the point that it will go down as a big gaming hit that didn't muster as well as it could and would have on some other platform.
As for Uncharted 1, that game got the same bad break as I think Dead Space got believe if not, if not worse even. But personally, I'm looking forward to playing Uncharted 2 as the original was amazingly beautiful action adventure game even if not perfect, but damn was it close and what complex game really is perfect in the end.? If they could make it where the enemies didn't look like cookie cut outs and it didn't take stupid amounts of damage to kill a tank top wearing AI among some things it'd be perfect.
