I didn't mind using the analog sticks that much.. but I was an unstoppable beast on round 3 using the button scheme.

I don't have a problem with allowing the button scheme so long as it doesn't give an advantage to the button pressers. In Fight Night 3, the button scheme allowed you to spam punches because you can easily press alternating buttons faster than anyone using a control stick. So in essence, if you really wanted to be competitive, you had to use the buttons. I think a lot of the anger was that people felt cheated when they took the time to learn the new control scheme EA was proud of and then found out they were at a competitive disadvantage to people who just used the buttons.

I have no problem with allowing the buttons as long as they make it so button users can only throw punches at the same speed as an average stick player. That way you can play how you want to, but you have to learn the stick scheme if you really want to be good.

Here's hoping they add ability to change the movement control scheme too. Like pushing up to make the character go forward!!!

Patch != DLC

It's not just a patch since it doesn't FIX anything, it ADDS a feature not present in the game. And that's DLC in my language.

If you're fan of oldscholl buttons and hate the inaccurate unfun analog sticks it should be up to you if want to buy this game and if EA wants to bring back the option.

The only people crying is analog sticks users who can't figure out how to beat a button mashers, now they are whinning about body puches if EA listen to them always crying they would be no body puching in FNR5.

Can someone explain to me why Demos started being called Betas and Patches started being called Downloadable Content?

well, this 'patch' comes with extras like a new training ring, new clothes and an extra fighter. those bonuses plus the added control scheme, and the fact that its free, easily qualify this 'patch' as DLC.

funny to see the fight night snobs slamming face button controls. different strokes for different folks. i think having options is a good thing, lets more ppl enjoy the game..

The folks making Tony Hawk's RIDE should take a good long look at this issue before forcing everyone who wants to play their game to buy the skateboard controller. Alienating consumers especially with the majority of them already migrating from Tony Hawk to Skate, is never a good idea. Fortunately for EA's Fight Night, there is no real direct competitor, and no, I am not counting Don King's Prizefighter as a competitor.

i dont mind the face buttons being added. Its SF feat. Tyson vs Ali. Now if they add the voiceover guy from KI this game will be EPIC win!!!

I bet it was always going to be free---they just did it this way to make us think they're being nice, instead of being annoyed at them for not including this in the original game, which we otherwise would have been, because we're all super negative Internet dorks.

Actually, I don't really care about button mapping. I already got used of the analog stick punching when FNR3 was around. But it's definetely gonna appeal to more people this way, so it's a positive thing.

BTW, can we have a "better looking faces for ring girls" DLC? Please?

That depends on your point of view.

To me, it fixes the game.

Is it just me, but the way the camera swings makes me seasick. So i swapped it back at EBGames for Xbox360 Orange Box and Xbox Freedom Fighters and Xbox Jaws Unleashed and Xbox Midnight Club 3 and the old PS2 Transformers all for the same price. And to my surprise they are all really good, well Jaws is a bit silly but good for a laugh.

looks like i'm buying this after the update then, the button scheme made opening up combos so much more pleasurable, with the stick layout my thumbs began to feel a bit disorientated........or maybe it was cuz of the liquor..........

Selling mine back today. I love FNR3 and I played with the sticks for about 6-8 careers. The layout isn't my problem. I hate the fact that the game has been focused almost entirely on counter punching.

Ok, so a dodge and then a strike is huge. I'll give you that one. But now I need to strategically time my blocking as to create another counter. I can beat on a guy for 9 rounds but I'm fucked if I don't counter and get hit with one in the tenth. It make normal blocking and punching almost irrelevant. That's why I hate this game.

I gotta say that after learning how to fight with the stick...it sucks! When I am literally in the ring i am confident in the punch i throw. when i am spinning astick for a hook and throw ajab i get pissed. when i press abutton i can strategize much like i do in the real world. i dont want to flail a stick around hoping for the right punch. you call us button mashers, but we are actually strategists that would mop the canvas with a stick player. so when i get my beloved config5 back BE AFRAID!
