LucasArts classics now on Steam, priced ... wisely

... so we were heartened to see the pricing schema in place on Steam this afternoon. Per @lucasartsgames Twitter feed, "pricing is easy." There's a "5-10-20 model" meaning classic adventure games are $5 (that's LOOM, The Dig, and the two Indiana Jones adventure games on here, as well as Star Wars Starfighter, though it sort of messes up our categorization here). For $10, you have your choice of squad-based Republic Commando and Armed and Dangerous. And for $20, you can choose from LEGO Indiana Jones, Star Wars Battlefront II, and Thrillville: Off the Rails.
We don't know about you, but $5 for a classic adventure game smells like a bargain to us (mmm, bargain). And with promised Steam bundles on the way ("CHEAP!") there's more value to be had if you like your Abe Lincolns to go a little further. Buying anything today? a good start.
but still needs more X-Wing/Tie Fighter, and the rest of their adventure games.
bongoes @ Jul 8th 2009 3:39PM
Yes, Tie Fighter, that game was awesome!
Matthew @ Jul 8th 2009 3:38PM
These prices seem fairly decent considering they are games brought "back to life".

Hey guys! Check out his blog!
ShadowSkill11 @ Jul 8th 2009 3:38PM
Wait a minute... a game company making reasonable prices for their classic sofware and allowing digital distribution via Steam? Ludicrous!
Dekka @ Jul 8th 2009 3:38PM
In the UK, the pricing is £3-£7-£13.
Girugamuk (Moptimus Slimed) @ Jul 8th 2009 3:46PM
In Soviet Russia, GAMES BUY YOU!
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jul 8th 2009 4:00PM
You buy games in Soviet Russia,In Soviet Russia, double reversal reverses you!
[In Communist Cuba, Castro BUYS YOU!]
deanb @ Jul 8th 2009 5:00PM
Which thankfully is alot better pricing than Steams old £=$=e (how do you make Euro symbol?)
ssuk @ Jul 8th 2009 5:12PM
@deanb: On UK Keyboards it's Alt-Gr + 4 key (€). Or you can hold Alt key and type 0128. (Don't forget, numeric pad only.)
Alternatively, look it up in your system's Character Map.
bongoes @ Jul 8th 2009 3:38PM
LEGO Indiana Jones is a classic already?
I'm waiting for KOTOR to go up. I've never played it and I don't have an XBOX/like buying PC games from most other sources/really lazy.
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 8th 2009 4:10PM
Oh man, Armed and Dangerous? That's great, i've never been able to find it at stores anywhere, but the need to shoots sharks out of a gun and drag around short Scottish people has never left me
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 8th 2009 4:17PM
*sigh*
Sly @ Jul 8th 2009 4:24PM
i also want KOTOR 1 & 2.
MystileArmor @ Jul 8th 2009 4:42PM
Couldn't you get Armed and Dangerous free somewhere? I remember them offering the whole thing for free a couple of years back.
jynxycat @ Jul 8th 2009 6:14PM
Sadly, Kotor 1 and 2 for PC are super buggy, and unless you're running 98, that shit is likely to not work at all.
bongoes @ Jul 8th 2009 7:14PM
@ jynxycat
Really? That sucks.
Solstice @ Jul 8th 2009 7:46PM
@jynxycat
Srsly? I've never had any problems getting KOTOR 1 or 2 to run on XP, on more than one machine. Mind you I can't speak for Vista but if you're stuck using that OS you've got bigger problems anyways. Oh and i'm also only talking about getting them to run - if KOTOR2 craps out on you and eats your saved games and/or children/wife/parents/anyone you care about, that's just because the game was never friggin finished properly. But it's still fun! :)
WorfoSAUR @ Jul 8th 2009 3:39PM
Has anyone played Republic Commando? Any good?
Storm Eagle::The Blood Edge @ Jul 8th 2009 3:45PM
Played it back on Xbox 1. It was pretty good.
ifalldownstairs @ Jul 8th 2009 3:54PM
I had it on my xbox. Great single player game in my opinion. I lost it long ago though, so i'll probably be buying it on steam.
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 8th 2009 4:17PM
One of my favorite Star Wars games, desperately needs a sequel
Justin @ Jul 8th 2009 4:24PM
I agree with everyone else that replied to you, WorfoSAUR.
Hard-hitting, greatly paced campaign. BUY BUY BUY! You won't be sorry, of this I am sure.
bensg @ Jul 8th 2009 3:42PM
LOOM!!! My favorite game of all time. The Last Crusade was pretty good, though I always got stuck in the library. It's not as simple as hitting the X with a blunt object...
Shagittarius @ Jul 8th 2009 3:47PM
I always got stuck in the Nazi castle.
Shagittarius @ Jul 8th 2009 3:53PM
Hi, I'm selling these fine leather jackets...
butaneko @ Jul 8th 2009 4:36PM
ASK ME ABOUT LOOM™
Paul W. @ Jul 8th 2009 3:43PM
Fate of Atlantis is bugged or something... no music! :(
Dougp @ Jul 8th 2009 3:44PM
Definitely going to pick up The Dig. Had really wanted the game when it was originally released but I couldn't afford it.
ncxcstud @ Jul 8th 2009 4:16PM
I wanted to play it too when I was younger...but for the same reasons I couldn't....
Now, I have it through Steam and I still can't play it because it won't work :(. Seems that many others are having the same problem as well.
Keeps giving a 'Game is unavailable - please try again at another time' error :(
BlackDove @ Jul 8th 2009 3:46PM
Nothing like pricing worthless (or in this case, priceless) things.
Shagittarius @ Jul 8th 2009 3:46PM
I would consider all 4 adventure games for 5.00 a good price. This is a rip-off.
Shagittarius @ Jul 8th 2009 4:04PM
Alright how about a Phat-Pack with all of the games released today for 39.99? That seems about right to me.
Billy @ Jul 8th 2009 7:01PM
Don't be such a cheap ass. These are some of the best games from available from last decade and well worth the price they're asking.
I thought they were also re-releasing all the monkey islands though? Those are the ones I was looking forward to the most.
Wise Guy @ Jul 8th 2009 3:47PM
I wish Microsoft would release Star Wars KOTOR and Gladius in their Xbox Originals library. I never even finished Gladius but remember it being fun.
SuckItTrebek @ Jul 8th 2009 3:52PM
How about putting TIE Fighter on there, eh LucasArts? Please? Pretty pretty I'll buy it twice please?
Einhanderkiller @ Jul 8th 2009 3:54PM
I believe LucasArts said that they will consider putting them on Steam if these games sell well enough.
Sean @ Jul 8th 2009 7:04PM
They could put it on for $50 and it would outsell their entire library.
MystileArmor @ Jul 8th 2009 4:02PM
I just want to see a X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter remake. Online play, updated graphics and the whole deal would be sweet.
Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC) @ Jul 8th 2009 3:54PM
Yay Thrillville! *ahem I mean oh thrillville...
(It ain't RollerCoaster Tycoon but is pretty darn fun)
Damn Dirty Ape @ Jul 8th 2009 4:51PM
I saw Thrillville at my local Big Lots for $6. I may have to go back and pick it up.
They actually have some decent PC games for $4-6. I got a game called 'Mount & Blade' that looked interesting and I'm pretty happy with it.
Some other games I saw there were SimCity: Societies, Alone in the Dark, Gothic 3, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (or whatever it's called), and one of the Brothers in Arms games.
LaughingTarget @ Jul 8th 2009 3:55PM
Well, it looks like they didn't let George Lucas anywhere near the pricing decision meeting.
Storm Eagle::The Blood Edge @ Jul 8th 2009 3:58PM
I believe he was overheard banging on the doors shouting "$20 each! $20 each!"
Courtney @ Jul 8th 2009 4:00PM
I am sorely, sorely tempted to pick up Loom and The Dig today, but with the two Monkey Islands also dropping and the GameStop sale, I don't really know where to spend my money.
Dammit, since when is having a wide variety of good cheap games to buy a problem!
Storm Eagle::The Blood Edge @ Jul 8th 2009 4:04PM
Yeah, kinda stuck up on me too.
I was all set and ready to buy HotD and BC over at that Gamestop sale and then I was like "Wait, you just bought BlazBlue and you're still playing inFamous". And then this pops up and I'm all about the Star Wars titles.
Sweet temptation: the bane of my existence.
SackUSMC27 @ Jul 8th 2009 4:16PM
What? No one else has picked up on their strained reference in the title here? I'll give you a hint:
"You have chosen...wisely..."
A bit of a stretch there, Christopher.
NekoDaimyo @ Jul 8th 2009 4:11PM
But WHERE is Sam & Max Hit The Road?
Alcevious @ Jul 8th 2009 4:12PM
No Grim Fandango?
WiNG [XBL&Steam: WiNGSPANTT] from lifeinagame.com @ Jul 8th 2009 4:35PM
Money says this is one of the titles they're holding back for a full re-make (and higher price)
LaughingTarget @ Jul 8th 2009 5:46PM
My money's on it showing up sometime at the end of Rocktober.
