New Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising trailer teases the teasing tease out of us
In fact, we never get to see any of the insanity, as the trailer leaves us with just the phrase "Think you're ready?" Boo! Looks like we're stuck waiting for the game's fall release to see just how crazy OFDR will be.

Sweet machinina.

*machinima.
xrra @ Jul 8th 2009 5:04AM
It's actually all in-game footage. It's showing the games new " Hardcore" feature mode that was just released by the developers.
Meh @ Jul 8th 2009 6:50AM
"It's actually all in-game footage."
Look up the definition of machinima.
RaveOnTheTank @ Jul 8th 2009 5:06AM

LOL. awesome.
EMPIRE @ Jul 8th 2009 5:42AM
That actually looks like ass. They took the Operation Flashpoint name, which stood for a war simulation, and turned it into a stupid console port looking game, where not only you get shot in the head and don't die, you also don't have lean (I mean, seriously, who the hell leans around corners in a firefight in real life right?) and the grand scale feel the original Flashpoint had, and that Arma and Arma 2 still have, is completely lost.
What a load of crap
Ryan @ Jul 8th 2009 5:53AM
Honestly, im dissapointed with the direction OFP2 is going. I don't mean to bash it or anything, it still looks like its going to be a good game, I just don't like how codemasters is dumbing the game down for the COD/Halo crowd. >_
Ryan @ Jul 11th 2009 10:52PM
And one more thing, I absolutely hate how people constantly compare this game to battlfield. STOP.
Battlefield=simple game not for hardcore gamers. And dont think youre a hardcore gamer because you play halo/COD/battlefield. Because youre not. all those games are dumbed down for the masses. Not for us hardcore gamers.
Operation flashpoint (the first one, anyway) and ARMA= realistic military sim for hardcore gaemrs.
dimaskrenz @ Jul 8th 2009 12:05PM
Hehe, you said "gae"mers...
JK, lol
Tim @ Jul 8th 2009 3:02PM
Dude you need to switch to decaf.
kentuckyfried @ Jul 8th 2009 7:54AM
how's it being dumbed down? (haven't heard of or played the first).
The movements are a bit stiff, but still much more fluid than watching Socom: Confrontation footage.
Is socom "realistic" enough? I've been wanting to try that one.
Gervin @ Jul 8th 2009 9:48AM
Boy do I miss Socom 1 & 2.
I wonder if Confrontation is anything like them.
(I refuse to get it w/o a single-player mode... which the next SOCOM is supposed to have).
Bobs @ Jul 8th 2009 10:09AM
I play confrontation once in awhile.
Its playable now since a lot of bugs have been ironed out.
It's still the worst SOCOM game ever released (No. 3 is close) which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering how good the originals were.
If you can find it for $20, its worth it.
NukeAssault @ Jul 8th 2009 3:42PM
You can essentially get Confrontation for 10 if you buy the headset bundle. Since the headset by itself is 50. Thats how i got it. Worth it if you don't have a headset already or want the official Sony one. Any ways, I think its a pretty good game though. Totally worth it if you buy the bundle.

Fuck, this game looks super hard on the hardest difficulty. It might be like a World at War "Heart of the Reich" mission times ten. I also read that travelling across the entire island is in real time, which is around 9-10 hours. WOW =\
Lennoko @ Jul 8th 2009 12:00PM
O christ. Heart of the reich. Took me like 3 fucking hours to get up those damn stairs. That was harder then Mile high club.
"HAI GUIS LETS SPAWN 20 SOLDIERS EVERY 20 SECONDS, AND TO STOP THEM FROM SPAWNING, YOU HAVE TO GO UP TO THERE SPAWN! LOLOLOL"
Neuromancer @ Jul 8th 2009 4:01PM
The difficulty in this game only changes the amount of info on your HUD, otherwise it plays the same whether you're on easy or hardcore.
Injulen @ Jul 8th 2009 8:30AM
That was one of the most uneventful and least hyping teasers ever. They could have done a much better job.
Neuromancer @ Jul 8th 2009 4:02PM
Watch this one then, it's a lot better in my opinion.

Still if you're looking for Call Of Duty/Jerry Bruckheimer/Michael Bay type stuff this is probably not the game for you.
Jsams4131 @ Jul 8th 2009 8:48AM
Save your money and wait for ARMA 2
Capgun @ Jul 8th 2009 10:52AM
Arma 2 is out, and has been for about 2 weeks(In the US, its been out even longer everywhere else). And it is awesome.
Jsams4131 @ Jul 8th 2009 11:17AM
I know its out for PC but I can't afford the badass computers you'll have to have to run it flawlessly...I'm waiting for the port to 360
Johnny Neat @ Jul 8th 2009 10:27AM
My interest was finally peaked. Could this be the adult Call Of Duty: MW I've been hoping someone would lean towards?
If a chance of Multiplayer is to be had I hope it is no more halo jumping spawn rifle grenading kiddies annoying me.
sicsided @ Jul 8th 2009 11:24AM
You could pick up the original for cheap on websites or even in stores if you can find it. It is simulation, hardly even a game. This is not run quickly into an area, jump to prone and gun down a few guys. This is if you didn't check with your binoculars before hand, your probably going to get sniped, or your tanks are going to blown to hell and the reds are going to flank your ass because of it. It especially sucks when you forget to save during a 4 hour long mission.
Johnny Neat @ Jul 8th 2009 11:28AM
Is it for 360?
NukeAssault @ Jul 8th 2009 3:45PM
There was a Flashpoint game made for the Original Xbox but that's it. May aswell just wait for this one to come out.
jbentertainment00 @ Jul 8th 2009 11:31AM
they don't have a lean or a cover system in this which makes it not tactical
it started out as a military sim, and the devs dropped that idea and went for the cod crowd
not a deal breaker, but the tactical genre has been absent this generation...the closest things are graw and rainbow...
I'll still buy it for the 4 player co-op...
Breakfastmachine @ Jul 8th 2009 12:27PM
I hope they are going for realism. Arma 2 is great and I'm really enjoying it, but having two games in that genre would be nice. If they are trying to compete with COD/Halo/Battlefield then it's going to have to be amazing to gain any traction. I'll probably get Modern Warefare 2 and Battlefield 1943 before I even look at another game in that genre, and I only have so much time and money.
Access Granted @ Jul 8th 2009 12:28PM
I wanted this game to come out in June... I guess I'll have to check out ARMA 2 for now.
Richards | PSN: F4WMR @ Jul 8th 2009 1:11PM
This game seems to have a great tactical feel. I loathe run and gun games, COD, K2, etc.. don't get me wrong, I play them but it becomes frustrating, essentially you can abandon the idea of a team and just go out and cause mayhem. Where I see that being a problem in the game is squad mates, eventually you'll run into a daft teammate who leaves the group and starts firing wildly etc.. yes I know that should be expected, but how raging must that be when you walk such distances to have your cover blown, lol wow I'd flip out. Either way, CAN'T WAIT!
Neuromancer @ Jul 8th 2009 4:04PM
Check out this video of the game instead, I think it's a lot cooler (not a RickRoll I promise).

This reminds me a bit of the first couple Ghost Recon games, which were amazing. I spent 7 years in Special Operations and there were details in those games that only an operator would notice. I couldn't believe the detail that went into those games.
For example the glint tape on the shoulder. You can only see it when nods or night vision is on. It's used so little birds or specter gunships can identify friend from foe under night vision.
I've been waiting for a realistic military shooter for some time. COD isn't cutting it.
