Singularity sucked into Q1 2010

"The level of excitement for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven's upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010," an Activision spokesperson declared. "We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a "must-have" title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season."
Thanks for taking one for the team, Singularity! Now, if you Assassin's Creeds and Splinter Cells and BioShocks could just skooch over a tad ...

oh no! what will the 3 people who actually care about this game going to do?
FNG @ Jul 8th 2009 8:29PM
really. and then this is listed as "breaking" too...
SimbaDogg @ Jul 8th 2009 11:02PM
oh shuttup ya big dummy. somehow this game totally slid underneath my radar, as i've never heard of it. but now i'm quite interested.
Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jul 8th 2009 8:07PM
Ahh to bad I already have Q1 reserved for Heavy Rain, GOW3, and WKC
MaliceMajorE15 @ Jul 8th 2009 8:25PM
dont worry, we should pre-empt the activision ps3 strike with a activision strike of our own. we should start convieniently after MW2 comes out
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 8th 2009 9:12PM
Longhorn- IMO you'll be playing those games in 2nd quarter 2010 and lucky to be buying them by the end of 1st quarter 2010, if not pushed back more.
remember heavy rain was already pushed back from a 2009 release date.
remember WKC has already been released in japan for more than 1.5 years now and well see when it comes out in the US..
remeber GOW was also pushed back.
remember ff13 was also pushed back.
Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jul 8th 2009 9:18PM
I disagree they been pushed back long enough
As long as I get 2 out of the 3 im good
I could care less for ff13......and Singularity
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 8th 2009 9:44PM
and if they only did original IP's they would go broke and not publish games...
ps3/360 games are not cheap to make and creating an entirely new business venture/plan every time they felt like releasing a new game would prove to be the end of it all.
big publishers that release most games on our consoles need profitable, popular franchises to stay in business.
just like how joe schmoe may open a Mcdonalds franchise and make $ 100,000 per year, while jack slack may open a restaurant and either lose thousands of dollars or maybe could make more than by owning a piece of a corporate controlled company.
MystileArmor @ Jul 8th 2009 8:09PM
"must have"
Waaaaaahahahahahahaha
Rodrigo @ Jul 8th 2009 8:24PM
march?? lol bad month because that's God of War 3!!!!
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 8th 2009 9:15PM
yeah but GOW is no COD for a company to compare to 'business speaking'.
GOW 1+2 sales don't even add up to the sales of COD:4 or COD:5 alone.
it was much smarter for them to compete against a ps3 only game, than a multi-platform game that has been a top seller 2 years in a row especially when the games are similar.
FatAtHeart @ Jul 8th 2009 8:28PM
Good call, but itll probably still lose to Modern Warfare 2! haha cant wait for that game.
Ch0ppa @ Jul 8th 2009 11:31PM
Everything will fall before the might selling power of Modern Warfare 2. Bwahahahahaha!!!
FatAtHeart @ Jul 9th 2009 12:25AM
haha yeah man!
Ryan @ Jul 8th 2009 8:55PM
mars:
your ignorance cracks me up.
Sly @ Jul 8th 2009 9:05PM
so they're pushing it out of the range of modern warfare 2 and into the range of god of war 3? well, it's slightly better since GoW3 is exclusive and MW2 is multiplat but still... february would be a WAY better choice...
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 8th 2009 9:22PM
too many people still buying COD in december, january, february though...
march may be looked at as a slowdown for that...
10 million people may buy COD,
4 million may buy GOW,
imo.
come march shooter fans may be looking for something else.
MOST gamers do not like the GOW series.
fanboys have a tendancy of thinking a great game is widely popular to a much larger audience, when in reality the fan base is much lower.
source: about 6 million people in total have purchased at retail GOW 1 & 2 and that was to 125+ million ps2 owners.
how many GOW III copies will be sold to 25 million ps3 owners...???
but on topic this game competes with COD, halo, gears, killzone, etc.... and not GOD OF WAR...
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 8th 2009 9:55PM
didnt CoD hit 10 mil because it was on PC, Xbox, AND PS3? Your sweeping generalizations that most gamers dont like GoW because of sales is retarded.
Sly @ Jul 8th 2009 10:15PM
actually, i know tons of 360 only owners that said that they would actually consider getting a ps3 just for GoW3. hell, even sprinkles, the man who thought the ps3 was the devil, said that he wanted GoW3.
and if you want to go by the "modern warfare 2 will keep selling strong for months after release argument", then they wouldn't ever release the game. a game like modern warfare 2 will have pretty long lasting sales.
Sly @ Jul 8th 2009 10:17PM
and the genre of the game doesn't matter at all when it comes to sales. in terms of sales, modern warfare 2, god of war 3, and wii fit are all competitors because they're all games. so GoW3 is competing with it.
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 9th 2009 12:04AM
1) I am buying GOW III when it releases.
2) I like the GOW series
3) COD 4/5 have sold more copies on the 360 each than any ps3 game has sold to date. COD 4/5 on the ps3 are 2 of the highest selling ps3 games. COD 4/5 for the PC is the lowest selling version of the game
4) GOW 1 + GOW2 sold 6 million copies to 125+ million ps2 owners.... how am i off in thinking GOW 3 will sell 4 million copies on ps3? when not many ps3 games if any have sold more than 5 million copies?
5) sly said: "actually, i know tons of 360 only owners that said that they would actually consider getting a ps3 just for GoW3. "
yeah ok, but not millions right? lol....
6) how many copies do you think GOW III will sell ?
7) remember every exclusive ps3 game has been hyped and underperformed to date. yes even MGS4 4 million copies was disappointing to me though an achievement also. they have all suffered disappointing sales for some reason or other, though some of the games were great. just like too human, left 4 dead, various RPG's suffered poor sales on the box but were great games IMO.
Sly @ Jul 9th 2009 12:52AM
the thing is, you missed the entire point of my comment. i'm saying that a game that hasn't been hyped at all (singularity) coming out in the same month as a MAJOR game (modern warfare 2, god of war 3) is going to do poorly, no matter what. so moving it so that it doesn't compete with MW2 isn't that much better since now it'll be competing with GoW3. that's what i was saying. GoW3 will easily sell over a million, this game will be lucky sell half of that.
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 9th 2009 1:17AM
well yeah you have a great point in thinking feb, than against cod6, but i was just saying that i thought march would be better.
but you may be right also.
either way feb or mar is better for the game than before.
Sly @ Jul 9th 2009 1:53AM
yeah, the way i see it, if it releases in february, modern warfare 2 would have been out for more than 3 months. if it releases in march, then it'll be competing directly with GoW3 which will definitely affect its PS3 sales, and sales to people who own both the 360 and ps3.
Dave @ Jul 8th 2009 9:26PM
Judging by some of the comments, I'm not surprised publishers shy away from original IP.
FNG @ Jul 8th 2009 9:37PM
this doesn't look like something new though. The screenshots reak of everything from the last 10 good shooters.
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 8th 2009 9:48PM
yeah i also love it when people just see a new game title and want to play it just because without even playing a demo or having any time hands-on with the game.
just like the fallujah game.. people cried about the game not coming out without even playing it 1 time...
*** news flash peepz.. lol... most games are sub-par and are poorly made, its the few between that really are something if you havent noticed during your life of gaming.
same people that would stop liking a band just because they changed their tune a bit or when they feel the band 'sold out'....
Bradwart @ Jul 8th 2009 9:31PM
This is old news-Amazon told me this yesterday. How about we delay MW2? Until April? Hey, it worked for GTA IV...
I hate Sucktivision. Too bad Raven has to suffer for it.
Magresda @ Jul 8th 2009 9:37PM
@sk8monroe81
No one bought Psychonauts. That must be a horrible game.
Wii fit sold 18 million. Must be amazing! Nintendogs is probably the best game on earth, amirite?
Yep, gamers must hate GoW cause it didn't sell more than CoD4.
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 8th 2009 9:52PM
I wish someone could make a good time manipulation game. Timeshift really blew and although im optimistic about this, it doesnt seem real hot. I wish there was a time travel game where you could mow down knights and samurai with laser guns and stuff as well as time powers
Sly @ Jul 8th 2009 10:20PM
i don't know, the graphics in this game look pretty nice, and it has 8 months to polish up more (assuming they don't pull a killzone 2 and delay it but not really add on to it). the gameplay and/or story may suck though, but we won't know til it comes out.
Ch0ppa @ Jul 8th 2009 11:38PM
I actually read an article about this game in a GameInformer from early this year like Jan or Feb. This game does look to have a cool concept - using the time manipulator to instantly age enemies and turn them into dust, or restore rusty old broken down shit back to brand new. It definitely will be worth checking out thru renting or gamefly. If it does turn out to be a good game then it will prob. end up like Dead Space with only half of its players having bought the game new. Games are just too expensive to take a risk on, cuz if you try to trade it in they dont give you shit!!
Sly @ Jul 9th 2009 12:53AM
yeah, i'll leave my judgment for when the reviews come out.
Dave @ Jul 8th 2009 10:22PM
I'm not excited about this game. I'm looking forward to learning more about it. I'm mostly hearing people discussing sequels they're looking forward to. Whether or not this idea is completely original, it's more original than a sequel.
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 9th 2009 12:11AM
true but most any shooter fan should be waiting for cod6 and maybe speculating on this 1 and not caring much yet IMO, not yours....
whats wrong with waiting for a proven game franchise to release its next game especially when cod4 & 5 are still 2 of the most played games on PSN/XBL today?
i am just the type of person who laughs when somebody quits liking something just because they feel it sold out or became popular or etc... it makes me laugh...
'all the kool kidz at school used to be like that'
some people have to gravitate to new things always i guess.
but for you to say this: Judging by some of the comments, I'm not surprised publishers shy away from original IP.
dont u understand that: let me grab it from above on one of my unpopular comments tonight:
big publishers that release most games on our consoles need profitable, popular franchises to stay in business.

"whats wrong with waiting for a proven game franchise to release its next game especially when cod4 & 5 are still 2 of the most played games on PSN/XBL today?"
What's wrong with it? Nothing--unless you're not even considering the possibility that a new franchise might be just as or *gasp* more fun. That, of course, was my point.
"big publishers that release most games on our consoles need profitable, popular franchises to stay in business."
What makes a game profitable? It needs to make more money than it costs to create it. What makes a game sell lots of copies? People are interested in the game and buy it. So why do publishers shy away from original IP? Because most people are only interested in sequels.
sk8monroe81 (PSN--XBL) @ Jul 9th 2009 12:31AM

great point man.
when i played mass effect, bioshock, and many others games I enjoyed the variety, independence, direction, imagination, creativity, originality, etc.. for all it was and those 2 games along with other new ones are some of my favorite games i have played in some time, if not my life..
but i also hope for and maybe that ME2 and bioshock 2 will be great games if not games to remember forever.
u have to start somewhere. the continuation of ME2 is unoriginal in the sense that it is another mass effect game, however it is completely unto itself and is its own game and still original nonetheless.
but I feel the same goes for cod4 and maybe cod6, but cod5 was great but not original because it was made to be historical.
Bright Motive @ Jul 8th 2009 11:21PM
Well it is made in Wisconsin, so you know it's USDA approved.

"" a joke "" ONLY....
the PS3panzies are out tonight playing with hearts again....
have fun..
funny at all?
but really what enjoyment do you get out of upgrading/downgrading a comment on these forums? I always have wondered it myself....
Sly @ Jul 9th 2009 12:55AM
to tell people to move on, because the whited out comment is stupid (in most cases).
