Haha, I love that you guys can make hockey jokes!
freechain @ Jul 8th 2009 8:25AM
Never played a hockey game or even watched a hockey match execpt for what i have seen in a movie, But this game looks pretty cool, might pick it up just add to my collection, be good to be able to pick a fight and punch on. Get the puck out of my face.
Heimbachae @ Jul 8th 2009 8:27AM
wayne gretzky hockey 2 baby all the way!!!
Paul @ Jul 8th 2009 10:18AM
I haven't played a hockey game since Blades of Steel. It finally looks like I may have found a good successor...
bluezy @ Jul 8th 2009 8:40AM
Heatley sucks.
Matt @ Jul 8th 2009 9:23AM
Ahahahahahaha! +1 for Heatley burn... Such a punk.
uncle jesse @ Jul 8th 2009 9:57AM
I can't believe Heatley! Aw, who am I kidding, I still want him here.
(I live in Edmonton, by the way)
AirIntake @ Jul 8th 2009 10:24AM
Naw, we don't need Heatley here. The Oilers having one player/coach that was convicted of vehicular manslaughter is enough.
uncle jesse @ Jul 8th 2009 10:54AM
Wow, ouch! Haha, I wonder what felt worse - the vehicular manslaughter or losing the cup in game 7.
jbuers @ Jul 8th 2009 10:59AM
I gave Danny a pass when he asked for a trade out of Atlanta after the Snyder incident, but this is getting old.
Matt @ Jul 8th 2009 12:10PM
"Is Dany Heatley right for you?"

Another Edmontonian? I'm kind of surprised. Anyways, I think the Oil are better off without Heatley in the longer term. Penner might come around under a different coach, and Cogliano is going to be a pretty solid player as he matures and they should do what they can to keep him here. It would be nice to see a high-scoring forward in Edmonton, but the Kings had the chance to get Heatley and they passed in favour of a guy who is older and got less goals (Smyth) because they knew he'd be a team player. Heatley will be nothing but a headache if he comes here, mark my words.
But I only root for the Oilers when they don't play against the Habs, so I'm probably not the best guy to be discussing this. :) Anybody But Calgary, right?
uncle jesse @ Jul 8th 2009 2:54PM
I thing Cogs is going to mature into a great forward. I have the same feelings about Penner, that he might perform well with the new coaching, because he and MacT clearly had issues. I liked the Healtley deal because it got rid of Penner's salary (which is way too much) and we would have actually gotten a bonafide star on our team. An actual goal scoring, sniper would have been on the Oilers for the first time in years. Come on, you know it's bad when we had a defenceman lead the team in goals last season.
Hemsky needs someone to play with and Horcoff, I'm sorry, is NOT a number one center in the NHL. He is on the Oilers for some reason, but anywhere else, he'd be either second or third line. Put a star on that top line with Hemsky and watch the two of them rack up the points.
Ravnos @ Jul 8th 2009 4:04PM
Horcoff's the number 1 centre because for some reason no other Oiler can manage to win a faceoff. I agree that he'd be 2nd or 3rd line anywhere else but the Oil are really lacking in strong centres. He's on the first line by default, unfortunately there's nobody else to bump him.
Heatley could be a good fit for the Oilers if he checked his ego at the door, but if he could do that, he wouldn't be asking for a trade from the Sens. He might not like what Clouston was doing, but their record improved when he started coaching, so I'm willing to give him a bit of credit. The Sens have to do something now, though, since Kovalev just put them over the cap. They can either trade Heatley or ditch some of their lesser players, which isn't a great plan either since they're already basically a one-line team.
jbuers @ Jul 8th 2009 11:03AM
@uncle jesse
... ?
Heatley's only played for the Thrashers and Senators. The Senators only went to five games with the Ducks in 06-07... When was the game seven loss supposed to happen?
cor @ Jul 8th 2009 12:05PM
Game 7 for the Oil against the Canes?
jbuers @ Jul 8th 2009 1:18PM
What does Edmonton or Carolina have to do with Danny Heatley? The only time Heatley has been to the Stanley Cup Finals was in 06-07 with Ottawa, and they got dismantled by the Ducks in five games...
Ravnos @ Jul 8th 2009 2:06PM
Craig MacTavish was convicted of vehicular manslaughter when he played in Boston. He was also coach of the Oilers when they lost the cup in 2006. That's who he's talking about, or did you miss the part about Heatley being the SECOND player that's happened to?
jbuers @ Jul 8th 2009 2:38PM
@Ravnos
Obviously must have missed it. Though, MacTavish and Heatley aren't the only NHL players to have been convicted of Vehicular Manslaughter, and the topic had been Heatley, so being specific couldn't hurt...
Ravnos @ Jul 8th 2009 2:52PM
"The Oilers having one player/coach that was convicted of vehicular manslaughter is enough."
Is that specific enough for you?
uncle jesse @ Jul 8th 2009 3:01PM
@jbuers:
Whoa, I wasn't aware of these comments below directed to me, sorry for not responding but it appears an answer has already been given. I'm reiterate:
MacT was convicted of vehicular manslaughter. Heatley was convicted of vehicular manslaughter. Someone said that having one member of the Oilers convicted of vehicular manslaughter was enough (because Heatley was rumoured to be coming to Edmonton). I jokingly questioned which felt worse for MacT, the vehicular manslaughter or losing in game 7 for the cup finals against the Hurricanes. Got it? It sounds like you either don't know much about hockey or just didn't understand what was being said.
@Ravnos:
Thanks for clearing it up.
uncle jesse @ Jul 8th 2009 3:04PM
Just read over my comment and it sounds like I'm being a dick (and has grammar issues). Sorry for that! But hopefully everything's cleared up.

I didn't take it that way. I glossed over the Oilers bit, thought we were still talking about Ottawa. My bad!
@Ravnos
Large stick, your ass, remove it, et cetera.

This Game looks very good, I enjoy all of EA NHL games and this one looks by far the best hockey game out there :)
Hopefully they add a replay editor with the upload to EA server cause there will be some cool replays made with them good gaming features
uncle jesse @ Jul 8th 2009 3:06PM
This does look like it has some nice additions and is the only series that I've actually bought every single year (starting with NHL 94) and will continue to do so if they keep up this amazing work.
