That's a pretty good price, and since it will probably have free shipping, i might pick it up.

At first I thought I read it would be reduced TO $20 and got so excited. But then I corrected myself. At $40 its a decent price, but I've already rented it and played through it in a 3 day marathon.

Oh yeah, I had a lot of fun. Worth trying out, if it was reduced to 20 dollars I would have easily picked it up. Couple of tips, don't buy the blade frenzy upgrade as it makes it a bit too easy in the end. And be prepared to jump kick a lot of helicopters.(which is awesome)

I rented it too but I thought the game was pretty frustrating. It would throw so much at you sometimes that you would have to run around in circles trying to fight and that got kinda annoying. It seems like the difficulty would just amp up without warning and then drop down again. The controls were off too, there were some weird button combos to use any of the powers you unlocked. Honestly, I don't know how I feel about this game.

It certainly had its frustrating moments I can think of several missions that had to be retried multiple times. Plus I loathe enemies like the hunters, just giants that constantly attack and don't get knocked down unless you throw 3 cars at them. But once you get certain powers it becomes almost too easy. The whip grab makes boarding much easier. But I enjoyed that they threw the entire military at you at times. You would have to go through 5 tanks continous helicopters and countless armed guards. Just make sure you have a devastator when you need it.

Isn't the internet lovely in its cuddly international-ness...

yes, you're reading a site on a US site about a US retailer. imagine that!

personally, I'm upset that joystiq doesn't cover the indie russian game scene more closely. They haven't posted a goddamn thing about ЮЯЖДБФЭИ in forever, I'm dying to know what's happening!!

Eldee: Amazon operates internationally, and Joystiq is hardly contained to American news. They cover lots of European stuff, although generally it's with a tone of "ok, now bring that to America!".

yeah, and coca cola is sold internationally as well, but it's a US company. If joystiq runs a story about banana manufacture, I'm not going to assume that they're talking about an american banana farm.

So should I bite or spend the extra $20 to grab Infamous? I know this begs for a good flaming, but I'm poor and in desperate need of a good game.

inFamous, hands down. There's a reason why they're discounting prototype. Probably because of the influx of used copies.

I disagree. InFAMOUS is definitely the prettier game, more polished, but it lacks....oomph. Cole is wimpy for a super-hero. The missions are fun by they get VERY repetitive b/c there's hardly any variation once the basic types are established.

I mean...c'mon. In Prototype, you get to leap off the side of a building and slash through helicopters with a gigantic blade. Or grab people by the head and fling them down the street or into a wall.

Here we go again. I like both of the games a lot. But OMG I lost count over how many glitches there are in inFamous. I can't tell you how many times the game froze on me, or I fell through the world, or Cole would run in the opposite direction I told him to. Oh, and how frustrating is it when the game freezes and you have to replay a long mission all over again because it only autosaves after you complete a mission? I'll tell you: major-fucking-frustrating!

inFamous was a lot more fun. It also had greater visuals and more polish. It was also nice having some option to approaching as good or bad. Prototype felt a lot more bland when fighting and there was a lot of repeat actions. In fact, the couldn't even go so far as to make different looking buildings for the creatures. Whenever you went to blow one up it was the same building in a different place crumbling afterwards. Further, in prototype your characters just a jerk and killing people and police just has no importance.

Well, let me put it this way - if it had been the other way round, if Infamous had the story (or lack of it), poor controls, lack of polish, weak graphics and lacked the play-it-again evil / good theme, it would have got 5 out of 10 and Prototype would have been 4-5 points higher out of 10. Its a bit like Uncharted, two of the best games ever that didnt get 90+ reviews because PS3 games need to change the face of gaming and cure cancer to get good review

The higher grades that inFAMOUS got reflected how much better of a game it was (i.e. 1-1.5 points better.) Prototype is a very good game, it's just not as polished as inFAMOUS was.

The stealth aspect of it is one of the best features. It's gotten me out of many a jam. Be sure to buy the Stealth Absorb power early on. There's nothing like dropping out of the sky into a crowd and ditching the strike force tailing you by shifting into some random inconspicuous dude in a Members Only jacket that you just absorbed.

Dang, I kinda wish I could go home and play it right now...

It's sort of both, you get some basic upgrades for free, but to make your character better you'd need to buy upgrades.

Certainly a better waste of time than continuing to plug that one-note hack ZeroPunctuation.

I tried to give this game a chance. I really did! It sucks! The gore and shapeshifting made it look fun, until ya actually played it. InFamous is by far better. If ya don't happen to have a PlayStation 3, ya need to get one. If ya just plain don't want one, I pity you first, suggest you get one and if ya still don't want one, you suck and sinse you'd only be stuck with just an Xbox 360, then play Crackdown instead. This game babies you and its horrid! The only gamers that really like this, are immature and just want gore and find some way to deal with the crappy gameplay. If InFamous copied Protoype, then Sucker Punch can just plain do it better. In the end 360 or PlayStation, or both, its crap! Don't even buy this game for $40. I'm not the only that feels this way. Anyone with great taste in games, knows this is a waste of time, money, efforts and resources.
