Funcom isn't planning on a sequel to Anarchy Online just yet. Speaking with VideoGamer, Game Director Craig Morrison believes a sequel would be "problematic." He notes that AO has been running for eight years and is still making money. We can't blame Funcom for not wanting to mess with a game that's making money.
Morrison explains that Age of Conan and The Secret World are currently the company's two main projects. For now, it looks like Anarchy won't be getting a sequel for ... well, considering MMO development cycles, a good long while.

Anarchy Online was sci-fi. The Secret World is japanese/Lovecraftian horror with conspiratorial elements. I can't see a connection really.

That's all fine and all, but when's the new graphics engine gonna be implemented? The current engine is butt ugly.

AOL looked fun. I tried to get into it when I was playing WoW, but the community just wasn't helpful at all, and I couldn't find any decent guides. It certainly wasn't noob friendly. It did look cooler than WoW though, that's for sure. I liked the setting much better.

AO is probably the best MMO to date. A sequel would be amazing, but I'd even settle for a big graphics update.

I agree. Funcom makes some great games, but they tend to launch them with too many bugs and not enough servers, which tends to scare people to a different MMO. Its really a shame as I've had more fun with AO than with any other MMO. Then again i've only played AO, WoW, and CoX. I would definitely be interested in an AO2.
As far as people not being really helpful its just like most MMOs, you have to find a good Org (the AO version of guild).

I've never played this but do want to give it a try as I hear it's a fairly deep game. However, like many others, I am waiting on the graphics update.
