Gwar headlines totally metal Brutal Legend concert

Notoriously noxious metal lords Gwar top the lineup of bands playing EA's "Brütal Legend Metal Meltdown" concert in San Diego, Calif., on the evening of July 23. (That's the first night of San Diego Comic-Con, which runs July 23 through 26 at the nearby San Diego Convention Center.)
The costumed comedy shock-rockers will be joined by Canadian metal act 3 Inches of Blood, all-grrl thrashers Unholy Pink and Black Flag co-founder Keith Morris. Now, before you bellow, "That is so effing cool!" know that it gets better: the show is free. Well, at least for those lucky enough to be chosen from the concert's sign-up page. More deets can be found on the concert flyer after the break.

...And Tenacious D, right? I think they have some incentive in showing up.
Blank-Mage @ Jul 9th 2009 3:10AM
Just a guess.

OMG 3 INCHES OF BLOOD
I love 3iob SO much, saw em recently with Trivium opening for Slipknot. I wish I could go to this show.
ArchiGamer @ Jul 9th 2009 3:11AM
Might as well:
Hope this turns out well, especially the advertisement for the game.
MystileArmor @ Jul 9th 2009 3:13AM

ArchiGamer @ Jul 9th 2009 3:15AM
Its too bad, cause they probably prefer blood instead of chokolat und zen.
sonicspike41 @ Jul 9th 2009 3:34AM

That is so effing cool!!!!
I saw Gwar back...crap, like 14 years ago. Damn I'm getting old. Anyway, regardless of what you think of their music, they do know how to put on a great show.
Jrinswand @ Jul 9th 2009 4:09PM
Plus, now that they actually play good music, they don't have to rely solely on the theatrics to entertain people.
Noxat @ Jul 9th 2009 4:17AM
If you haven't been to a Gwar live show you haven't truly been to a concert.
derdaim @ Jul 9th 2009 5:04AM
That "meltdown"-font seems to be Metal Lord ( http://www.searchfreefonts.com/free/metal-lord2.htm ) which is my favourite ALL-CAPS font!

3 Inches Of Blood is incredible, I saw them twice in 2007 and was pretty much head-banging face to face with the band at the second show. They deserve to be way bigger than they are now.
Oh yeah, Gwar's cool too.
Husher @ Jul 9th 2009 5:20AM
woo the new tier 9 armor.
Hoffer @ Jul 9th 2009 6:31AM
I saw GWAR twice at First Avenue downtown Minneapolis back around 1993 or something. One of the guys I went with would wear the same shirt to all the GWAR shows and never wash it. So, it would be colored in an interesting way. :-)
sicsided @ Jul 9th 2009 2:40PM
I love concerts at First Ave
Stan @ Jul 9th 2009 7:29AM
GWAR is so awesome. Saw them last year in Mobile, AL.
ilovethewaggle @ Jul 9th 2009 8:41AM
Free concert and Free booze?!? Sign me up!
Kizzle @ Jul 9th 2009 9:17AM
Gwar is better than everything, ever.
freaparn @ Jul 10th 2009 10:05PM
GWAR's an excellent headlining act for a game like this, and by no small coincidence their new "Lust in Space" album should be releasing mid-August.
Michael K. @ Jul 9th 2009 1:10PM
i love GWAR, I've seen them at least 20 times (every tour for the past ten years at least once), but I can't make that show. I haven't seen them since may, I wish I could go.
Michael K. @ Jul 9th 2009 1:14PM
I guess this also means I'm getting Brutal Legend. I was on the fence about it (i HATE jack black), but I'll buy it since its sponsored by GWAR
The Dark Wayne @ Jul 9th 2009 2:02PM
I saw Oderus Urungus on Fox News once. They weren't like condemming gwar for not being republican or against family values or anything, he was being interviewed, as like, commentary! WTF!

Mutant League Football. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw that pic. Weird.
Shane @ Jul 12th 2009 1:04PM
That definitely sounds metal and all but too bad Dethklok isn't on there.

Hey, I reject being called a nerd and I still play DOTA.
Drow is hot.
