Nathan Fillion in ODST? So does this mean the game is destined to be cancelled?
>_>

I mean, don't get me wrong, the man is a fantastic actor...but damn.

He was actually in Halo 3 as an extra. As I recall, that game didn't do too bad for itself.

@Riot9: Actually, Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk had minor roles in Halo 3, too. Something tells me the guys at Bungie are browncoats...

If you'll recall, Bungie did break from Microsoft in '07, so I think they're as much against unification as any of us.

@Longhorn of Myon

Your comment tells me you've never seen Nathan Fillion act. Well you're definitely missing out.

In "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog", Fillion played the arrogant antagonist Captain Hammer. That man has a singing voice that would make Cupid explode in a shower of hearts.

Listen up people:
Sony isnt going to make the movie for the "fans" they are going to make it for a wide audience to grow the franchise, they arent going to put an unknown actor that isnt eye candy (no homo), you guys already have the game

XFD at calling Fillion an "unknown." Obviously you have no idea what an unknown is. Fillion is definitely known. He's not a superstar, but he's made a name for himself...mainly a name that says "If you want your tv show to last past the first season, don't cast Fillion."

@Dark Wayne: I'd be stoked for that news, except Castle is terrible.

To think that he's is doing that show instead of season 7 of Firefly is heartbreaking. Oh well, I guess it's nice to see a local boy have some success.

Speaking of Halo...has anyone seen the trailer for District 9? Man they should have let Neil Blomkamp and Peter Jackson make that Halo movie.

It is about time us South Africans have an amazing sci-fi movie, and i wont let Halo take that away from us!

Yeah District 9 is going to be amazing though, how that trailer was all passive, then the guy gets poisoned.

Well, there's some rumblings that the reason the halo movie (really an obvious money maker) wasn't made was because the studios were unsure about a rookie director. If you had some veteran action director like bruckheimer or bay, or some untalented yet highly fashionable flavour of the month like Abrams (that's right, internet. I said it. Come get me.), they'd be more willing to commit the millions it would take to do the movie right.

So the whole business with district 9 is as a demo. To show what Blomkamp can do. Then they pitch halo again. The right movie can make your career overnight. I mean, Chris Nolan was around for awhile, but with Dark Knight, he can pretty much do whatever the fuck he wants.

That movie looks insane! It also appears to be akin to Cloverfield in the sense that it takes an ostensibly realistic approach to the movie.

First off let me say Nathan Fillion is awesome. But that guy is right, there is no way he would be cast in an Uncharted movie. He is just not a bankable star and he's probably a little too old anyway. Apparently some of you've never watched a Hollywood blockbuster before, they like their stars young and popular. Looking at the E3 demo of ODST it sounds like they are having themselves a little Firefly reunion, I thought I heard Adam Baldwin and Alan Tudyk in there as well.

I disagree.. I think this movie and others, especially comic book films, would be far better with "unknown" actors. You put a guy like Nicholas Cage in Ghost Rider and it ruins the whole character. I'd say the same for almost every major role.
I think these types of films based on comic books and video games need new fresh faces. You put an A-List actor in the major roles and it loses something it seems.

The only two I'd argue as good picks are Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark cause he's a methodist actor and fits the role perfectly, and Christian Bale as the Dark Knight, mostly because the Batman has been portrayed by far worse in the past and he's the 1st one, I feel, to really nail it.

I'm curious as to what Dark Wayne thinks of the Mr. Bale helming his Cowl.

whylkekat.

It isn't that he SHOULDN'T be drake. It's that he won't. There noone in hollywood that better embodies that combination of bumbling everyman and 20s pulp mag action hero than Fillion. Even Nolan North is more conventionally "hollywood handsome" than Fillion.

The issue is that hollywood is run by retards. people who think Gi Joe needs to be made gritty and realistic...and then have robots. People that think we need twilight movies. Fillion may be good, but he isn't bankable. And if you put Rob pattison on there, even though he can't play anything well, it would sell tickets just on that basis.

Hollywood doens't care about the franchises. They care about selling shit. Fillion appeals to a certain kind of people, but not the mass market. And its much easier to take someone who is already a star and force him into a place he does not belong than it is to take an cult figure and make him popular.
