It's a rarity, but we'll admit it when it occurs: We might have judged a game too quickly -- specifically, Lego Rock Band. While we assumed it would just be a brickalyzed version of the game we all know, love and are the tiniest bit sick of, a recent interview has us questioning that.
TT Games boss Jonathan Smith told VG247, "The Lego character customizer means that pirates, knights and skeletons can be rock stars too, in amazing new locations. Battle sea-monsters, smash up an entire building, or take a trip into space, all with the power of rock!"
Publishers, if you're curious about how to get our attention, skeleton rock stars destroying buildings with rock power before traveling into space is a great way to start.

As long as we can import the songs to Rock Band 2, I'm happy.

Same. I love having all my songs in one central location.

My purchase pretty much hinges on whether I'll be able to export the songs from the disc or not. That's why I won't be getting The Beatles: Rock Band. Nothing against them, but I wouldn't want to play a disc of nothing but one band's songs even if they were one of the most prolific bands in existence. If I were able to export those Beatles songs into Rock Band 2, however, I'd be all over that.

I'd rather import my RB2 songs to Lego Rock Band so I can rock out with Lego men.

How 'bout "rectify?" That word always gives me a chuckle.

Being able to export lego dudes would also rock.... I hate my band guy. I'd much rather be a Lego pirate

I am fine with either, just as long as one can export to the other.

What if I could build a character and stage with real legos then use the Playstation Eye to take a picture and have it "recreated" with in the game? I still wouldn't buy this--but I'm wondering how we can't make these lego-games more lego-y.

I'd also be down to pay for another $5 license to export my Rock Band 2 songs into Lego Rock Band... as long as I didn't have to pay another $5 to export my Rock Band 1 songs again. Basically I want everything in one place.... RB1, RB2, and DLC. And actually Lego Rock Band would probably be the coolest place to have it.

While playing Lego Batman the other night (Don't hate, I got two young boys), there's a bonus part where you build a set of instruments. You can get a rough idea what the drums will look like, which use pretty standard LEGO pieces, as well as what the microphone stand will be. There was also a string bass, which would be AWESOME to see in LRB, and they had a keyboard/piano. I don't care if the songs are exportable. From what I thought I read on Harmonix' web site, RB songs will NOT be playable on L:RB, but they didn't say anything yet about exporting to RB/RB2. My guess is they will NOT be, and it will be a timed exclusive to L:RB, similar to the RB:Unplugged and the Country Pack. L:RB is supposed to be ready for the Holidays, so probably around February or March, the songs will be available as DLC. And perhaps there will be a code to export L:RB songs to RB/RB2.
