Further doubt has been cast on Alan Wake's timely arrival on PC ... if he ever shows up at all. Following up on a Remedy forum post, which put the mouse and keyboard edition to the back of the line, Edge discovered the PC version is in an even more precarious state than first thought. Sam Lake, lead writer for Alan Wake, told the site that the Xbox 360 version is currently getting all the attention and plans "are up in the air and open." He added, "Once we get this version done we'll see."
When pushed further, Lake repeated that "plans are open" and the company will "evaluate the situation and see what makes sense." Given our wide range of programming expertise, we know that Xbox 360-to-PC (and vice versa) development is only a slightly more evolved form of ctrl-c, ctrl-v, so what's going on with Mr. Wake is a bit of a mystery to us.

Blaming piracy is bullshit. There are far less people savvy enough to pirate a PC game than there are people trading in and buying used console games.

I didn't get it from anywhere, I also did not know/care who published the game. Don't be a nit picker.

So the writer of Alan Wake is...Sam Lake....really?

Um, being on the 360 hasn't stopped those games from being pirated to extreme numbers. I'm tired of developers using the lame "piracy is rampant on PCs" excuse so they can get away with not developing for PCs. Be honest and just tell us that you don't make as much money per copy on PC games as you do for consoles.
And I agree with others. Dev'ing for PCs is no where near as easy as for a console. Consoles are a "closed environment". They're the same hardware for years. That is why going from a console to PC is much harder.
What I hate most about console->PC games are the controls. It's like the devs never played on a PC so they don't know how to program for a keyboard and mouse. And no, I'm not going to plug my 360 controller into my PC. If I want crappy gamepad controls, I'll play on my 360. I keep a gaming PC BECAUSE of the keyboard and mouse which are much more accurate and responsive than a controller.
Video on a PC is better too. 32bit color vs. 10bit/16bit. More detail in the frames, higher frame rates, etc. Sure, it's harder to dev, but I also pay more for the hardware.

The irony is that Microsoft continues to try to promote features like DirectX 11 and Games For Windows at the expense of actually making games for the PC. So they expect people to run and upgrade to Windows Vista or Windows 7, and yet, won't support PC as a platform by providing actual games. It seems Microsoft, by coming into the console market, is now competing with itself by having two gaming platforms, whether they would like to admit it or not.

Microsoft is footing the bill. If they think they'll get more cash from the Xbox version, I gather the Xbox version will be their primary concern; Games For Windows, secondary.
I'll just be happy if the game isn't vaporware and if it doesn't become next year's version of "Alone in the Dark"...hopefully there won't be schizophrenic camera and controls, terrible combat, non-pause inventory and horrible driving (if there is any)...It's supposed to be pretty, but I'll be happy if the game fucking works. Too many famed developers (Eden, Silicon, others) have been taking a dump on gamers lately...

I think Gamer4Life meant that games that are originally designed to use a gamepad (not a FPS, but a third person game) control better on a gamepad than a mouse and keyboard.

Third Person shooters work fine on PC. The only games that don't work well with KB/M are Fighting Games and Hack N Slash/Action Adventure.
That's obviously easily dealt with when you buy a plug-in controller. Pfft...seriously. Only morons (...Gamer4Life?) complain about PC gaming, the control scheme is fine. And like all things they have their pros and cons (like Consoles!)

He said "more precise" , which would lead one to assume it would span to FPS' as well and according to the laws of physics, is an incorrect statement at best. This point is not a matter of opinion. M/KB is and always will be fast, more accurate and more precise than a controller.
It doesn't matter what someone likes better or not. Its about if it gets the job don't better or not. In the case of an FPS, M/KB gets the job done better. Its just a fact that many people wont accept.
Find me someone who can play Quake Live with a controller as well as the people who use a mouse/keyboard and I will retract my statement, and rewrite the physics myself.

What...the fuck. Oh well. I'll survive, these fools have spent far too long working on this game, and their showing ended up being less than expected from me.

MS does appear to have decided to actively target the PC gamng market for demolition.
Which strikes me as a rather dumb decision... cos if we didn't all have to use PCs for gaming, there'd be nothing stopping us switching to other operating systems like Linux or OSX.
games for windows seemed like a "do not buy this game" warning. they take their best PC game studio (ensemble) and make them work on a console game before closing them. they close the flight sim studio.
I don't get what is stopping MS from including a Xbox Live style system right in Windows. It'd tie games to users, allow people to buy and download easily, etc.. that equals just as profitable a system as on the 360.

They started to make some progress with the "gaming score" in vista, so users could easily see what games would play on their system.
But that was it, and they seem to have almost abandoned it anyway.
MS needs to find a way to make PC gaming MORE ACCESSIBLE to people, so they don't have to worry about (false) minimum requirements, glitches, etc..
