Hudson officially reveals Wii survival-horror 'Calling'

Joystiq [Nintendo] frequenters likely remember Calling being outed way back when. Now it's back, with Hudson finally getting around to officially announcing the thing. Outside of a vague release of Spring 2010, Hudson was thankfully able to provide us with some worthwhile info on the game's content.Hudson is calling it a "traditional survival-horror" game, with the story involving the dead luring the living to isolated locales for some unspeakable acts of evil (they're going to make them watch Postal?). The game will feature the perspectives of multiple characters, and in the gallery of fresh screens below we get a glimpse at one particularly frightened young man. We're pretty sure he's scared of that teddy bear-wielding ghoul behind him, if not the telemarketer who just asked him if he's happy with his long distance provider.

who needs Fatal Frame 4 when we have this?
>_>
AtomicPlayboy @ Jul 10th 2009 7:43PM
I was thinking the same thing. The long-haired, pale evil little girl is to Japanese horror with the hermaphroditic emo fashion-twerp is to Japanese role playing. Cookie-cutter.
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 10th 2009 4:27PM
Seems like it could be good, though I'll reserve my opinions as soon as it comes out, whenever that is.
Matthew @ Jul 10th 2009 4:37PM
I believe that this game will not be good at all! Horror is not for the Wii....Only games that involve lollypops, boardgames, and claymations are for the Wii!
Xoonaka @ Jul 10th 2009 4:38PM
Well, these models do kind of look like claymation....
Rob @ Jul 10th 2009 4:38PM
Tell that to Resident Evil 4, which did well on the Wii.
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 10th 2009 4:40PM
Hey, I like lollypops and Horror games. :(
Rob @ Jul 10th 2009 4:59PM
Wait, I just had an idea for a horror game set in a candy factory.
NothingShocking @ Jul 10th 2009 5:22PM
Either that comment was hilariously sarcastic, or something is wrong with you.
ilovethewaggle @ Jul 10th 2009 5:29PM
Lollipops IN horror games. Come here children...into this van...I have candy.
Drew -- PS360: uphillbothways @ Jul 10th 2009 6:53PM
and you love the waggle...
Matthew (GamerzTech.com) @ Jul 10th 2009 4:42PM
Rob I understand you have a Wii So........Wait how can I talk to Resident Evil 4?
Rob @ Jul 10th 2009 5:03PM
Just giving you an example my friend. Also I don't actually like Resident Evil, or any horror game for that matter. Horror scares the shit out of me, specially ones with zombies.
Matthew (GamerzTech.com) @ Jul 10th 2009 4:42PM
LOL!
Ashitaka @ Jul 10th 2009 4:54PM
Calling's graphics will be horrifying alright!
Markez @ Jul 10th 2009 5:15PM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAWHA
Matthew (GamerzTech.com) @ Jul 10th 2009 5:04PM
I know dude. I was just messing around:)
Rob @ Jul 10th 2009 5:09PM
Well then, that's ok
Mr Khan @ Jul 10th 2009 5:07PM
The Wii is fast becoming the home of traditional survival horror. But i thought this game was Ju-On, and that they weren't two separate entities
Matthew (GamerzTech.com) @ Jul 10th 2009 5:24PM
It was supposed to be sarcastic:)
Drew -- PS360: uphillbothways @ Jul 10th 2009 6:54PM
K, you need to learn how to reply.
Petebot330 @ Jul 10th 2009 5:30PM
Cool. Really excited for the Silent Hill game though...
Daisuke @ Jul 15th 2009 3:53AM
I hope this is that remake of the Korean horror film "Pon/Phone" that was mistakenly announced as a movie so it doesn't have an american remake...
gaph2000 @ Jul 11th 2009 1:11AM
When I was on the site earlier I saw the main pic and thought "Oh, look, a scared child. Now I'm on my iPhone looking at it and basically crapped my pants when I saw the thing in the background.
Meh @ Jul 11th 2009 6:14AM
This looks like The Sims 3 O_o
Havok @ Jul 11th 2009 11:56AM
To be honest, I was expecting Dead Space Girl to be photoshopped in there somewhere.
Danny @ Jul 12th 2009 11:30AM
I hate Hudson. Their first wii game was nothing but a noob/parent trap that stole innocent peoples money (Deca Sports).
Dv8thwonder @ Jul 12th 2009 3:58PM
Why do I have this strange feeling that this will launch with the Vitality Sensor?
Mr. Fister @ Jul 13th 2009 6:10PM
I'm not too sure about that, actually. Considering how there's yet to be any software that uses the Vitality Sensor revealed yet, Hudson could've gotten a decent amount of free publicity if they announced they were making "The first game to use the Wii Vitality Sensor!" The fact that they didn't probably means they won't be utilizing it.
That, and Calling has been in development for a long time now, presumably before the Sensor had been revealed to other developers, so it may have been too late for them to incorporate it into the game.
Metoo @ Jul 12th 2009 4:26PM
Forget the black haired girl cliches, I want "Winter" to be developed and published!

this looks scary enough......for me to POOP on!
cereal, this looks scary for a 12 yo only. a very sheltered 12 yo at that.
here come da bomb! (again)
Mr. Fister @ Jul 13th 2009 9:55AM
Doesn't look too impressive now, but the more Wii exclusives, the better, I suppose.
I'll reserve judgment for now.
