Look, an iPhone-sized Monkey Island: Special Edition wallpaper ('Wink wink nod nod')
You can say a lot of things about LucasArts CEO Darrell Rodriguez (he's managed to get the Lucas Empire to acknowledge its adventure game heritage, for starters!) but you probably can't call him slick. When he told us that it "would make sense" for LucasArts games to come to the iPhone, "wink wink, nod nod" (he actually said that, out loud), we caught what he was throwing ... which was a boulder. On fire. Neon fire.So now, when the 'droids responsible for maintaining the @lucasartsgames Twitter account dropped a curiously iPhone-sized Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition wallpaper with another "wink wink nod nod" we barely raised a boulder-singed eyebrow. Instead, we're wondering what the plan is for the iPhone market: "Special Edition" remakes only (ala Xbox Live Arcade), or another marketplace for the classics (see: Steam). Like most of the unanswered questions in LucasArt's journey into the vaults, we imagine it all depends on the success of this first foray.

I know what iPhone wallpaper I'm using now. And an iPhone version would be a horrible idea, I wouldn't get anything done at work, I'd get fired, the company would go under without my skills and the entire economy of the world would collapse, leading to an invasion and eventual world domination by mole people.

Absolutely! You're much a much too vital part of this world to be playing games. Let us do that for you! Keep doing your thing.

Oh please fuck my brains out Darrell Rodriguez!!

Yes folks, Friday is so slow we've resorted to posting "news" about wallpapers now. Wallpapers for phones, even.
Can we see a post about the new beach picture on you've got on your computer now, too?
Christopher Grant @ Jul 10th 2009 5:08PM
Oh Marty, you're adorable.
Kleptomaniac @ Jul 10th 2009 5:12PM
Or it might be to do with the possibility of LucasArts games coming to the iphone *wink wink* *nod nod*

Who wouldn't want to see Justin in a speedo?

Speaking of Friday, Bruno's out now. I heard it's hilarious, although it looks like most people have gotten over Sacha Baron Cohen's antics. Hopefully he makes a new show or something, I always preferred his series over his films.
Also hopefully Lucasarts brings classic adventure games to the Iphone. Other than the DS. The Iphone is basically the perfect platform for them now.

LucasArts has been dropping their hints about this with a sledgehammer.
Snowblind @ Jul 10th 2009 5:19PM
I think you guys are taking this a little too seriously, the guy on Twitter was just posting a wallpaper for the iPhone. Although I do think it's likely we'll see ports soon enough, I don't think this was supposed to be any kind of hint.
Christopher Grant @ Jul 10th 2009 5:23PM
"wink wink nod nod"
Yeah, probably not a hint. They wouldn't be so subtle ...

Is your wife, er, a goer? Say no more, know what I mean, know what I mean?

Hmm I wonder if it would even be any good on the iphone. I cant see the control layout in my head w/o major annoyances. I could see it on DS much easier since you buttons and and extra screen. But hey cant wait to see how it turns out(and maybe get ported to DS ala Asphalt 4 later on) Oh and I had already made a Tales of Monkey Island wall paper for my Dare =)

I just hate Guybrush's hair in that redone cover pic. Is it just me?
He looks like that gay kid from 'Who's the Boss?" back in the 80's early 90's. It even looks shaved on the sides...terrible.

Never mind the iphone, what about the DS??
i know we have all been saying that since before the DS actually launched,
but this new(--ish) Lucasarts CEO actually seems to be intelligent and want to sell games, unlike the last lot.
I finally have a small hope that lucasarts will do smart/nice things. (classics for DS/Wiiware, new versions of great franchises, make a new Tie-Fighter, finish the story of X-wing alliance, etc... )

i like small games on the iphone.. my friend just bought a really fun baseball game on the iphone.. but now his phone is always dead at around 3-4pm.. which is.. annoying..
the games work well on the iphone.. its just that the battery doesnt allow it to be a phone afterwards.. maybe on the ipod touch or ds.. or psp.. something that wont cut me off from society if the battery when im out and about.
fadeoutagain2784 @ Jul 11th 2009 6:53AM
That's a really good point... all of my friends that have iPhones are constantly scrambling to find their chargers and halfway through the day. It's one thing if you drive a lot and have a car charger, but if you take the subway to and from work, keeping your iPhone charged can be tough if you like playing games on it.
Paul @ Jul 11th 2009 3:35AM
I played the SCUMM Games a lot when my phone was jailbroken and they run like a charm. Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, all of those ran great. If this wink wink nudge nudge is going where I think it's going I can't wait to fill up my phone will classic Lucasarts adventure games. Just please find a way to get Curse of Monkey Island on there please :)
Young_Jey @ Jul 11th 2009 9:58AM
Cool, I've bin wanting a monkey island screen saver for my iPod, thats what you ment, right?
