Scribblenauts could come to other platforms
It's a scientific fact that 100 percent of people on Earth love Scribblenauts -- trust us, an actual scientist said that -- unfortunately, not everyone owns a Nintendo DS. Sure, almost everyone owns a DS, but that still leaves a small sliver of humanity who will be unable to experience 5th Cell's wordy puzzler whenever it hits store shelves this September.
Fortunately for this minuscule contingency, there's a chance Scribblenauts could be released on other platforms. In a recent interview with VG247, the game's technical director, Marius Fahlbusch, explained, "We never limited ourselves to the DS as platform in our heads and we'll see what the future holds." Personally, we think it would be a hit on any platform, whether that platform be Xbox 360, PS3 or coloring book.

Can we slow down the hype train for a sec?
I've heard about being able to create anything, but what else is in this game? I know there are missions, but after those are done, is there online play? How long is the actual game?
Wiizer (Michael Pachter MUST DIE.. Professionally) @ Jul 10th 2009 7:26PM
Okay, found some answers:

220 levels, once a puzzle is solved with one word, the next time you enter, you have to use another.
Level editor shared via wi-fi, and that's it. Hmmm... I think that should keep most busy for a while.
CH3BURASHKA @ Jul 10th 2009 7:43PM
Good job answering your own question. It's a freakin' playground in which you can see God battle Cthulhu with a shotgun. WTF ELSE DO YOU NEED!!!
Wiizer (Michael Pachter MUST DIE.. Professionally) @ Jul 10th 2009 7:45PM
@ CH3BURASHKA
I'd like to be able to do co-op or Versus. I don't think creating stuff on your own is as much fun as doing it with friends.
whylekat @ Jul 11th 2009 5:03AM
If this were any other game, I'd agree with you about co-op. In this case, however, you have zero imagination! Quit failing & go buy a dictionary.
Wiizer (Michael Pachter MUST DIE.. Professionally) @ Jul 11th 2009 8:33AM
^ You dummy, did you not read what i said? There's only so many words you can put into this thing before you get bored. And it's not like each object has 'special abilities'!
Jesus doesn't fight any differently than the beaver...
Ben Forbes @ Jul 10th 2009 7:19PM
Personally, I think the game, as it is, works best on the DS; the touch screen for input and limited cartoony graphics make it what it is.
guises @ Jul 11th 2009 1:04AM
What? Why would I want to tap out words on a crappy software keyboard?
This is a PC game that got put on the DS for opportunistic reasons. I just hope that if they port it, it winds up on the PC where I don't need to spend half my time hunting and pecking keys with a stylus.
Meh @ Jul 11th 2009 4:30AM
Buy 2 thumb-styli. No, seriously. It made me King of Pictochat.
Kamasama @ Jul 11th 2009 1:47PM
The art style would not need to be compromised on another platform, and I don't think typing out a word is something that can only be done well on a (resistive) touch screen.

WUUUVVV!!!!
Kilau @ Jul 10th 2009 10:28PM
this concept of wuuuvvv confuses and infuriates us!
Sly @ Jul 10th 2009 10:49PM
kilau, futurama reference FTW!!!
Mr. Fister @ Jul 11th 2009 10:34AM
No, you spy the cutest ROBOT zombie in the world.
Douche Bigalow @ Jul 10th 2009 7:21PM
If you watch the videos you see that creating anything is pretty much its hook. I mean, it's good for what it is, but yeah the hype train's a little crazy.
On the bright side at least we're not hearing about Braid anymore.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 10th 2009 7:24PM
That's the thing though, this is the new Braid on here. They do this with every "hyped" casual game, talk about it for months at a time.
AvA (ice~) @ Jul 11th 2009 2:08AM
are you kidding? They don't talk about this game half as much as they talked about braid. besides, I feel like this game deserves the hype, i mean braid was great, but...there was wayyy too much hype behind it... this game has replay value out the anus, and it's got charm and hilarity. awesome combination's.
Nightwish @ Jul 11th 2009 7:46AM
And the difference between that and, say, Infamous, would be what, exactly?

"It's a scientific fact that 100 percent of people on Earth love Scribblenauts"
I don't....
Anyway, I could see it on PSN since ps3 has keyboard support. Typing with a regular controller would be far too tedious.
Snowblind @ Jul 10th 2009 7:24PM
360 supports keyboards too.
But I don't see why there'd be a problem with even bringing it to something like the PSP too. Using text input isn't that difficult.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jul 10th 2009 7:25PM
360 has it for messages, but I'm pretty sure MS really frowns on using keyboards in actual games.
franktinsley @ Jul 10th 2009 7:26PM
That's because see, you're not people.
Snowblind @ Jul 10th 2009 7:33PM
I can't think of a game on the 360 that would really need a keyboard.. You're able to use it whenever you need to type in names, etc, though, so I don't see why they'd stop it working in a game like this.
Mr Khan @ Jul 10th 2009 8:52PM
Keyboard would limit the fun, though. It's called Scribblenauts, not Typenauts.
KaBob799 @ Jul 10th 2009 9:17PM
The Wii supports keyboards too.
Gabriel Lamarre @ Jul 10th 2009 10:03PM
Tmac, you are not a person, you are a Nintendo hate machine, that's why this scientific didn't count you in during his research.
tenor77 @ Jul 10th 2009 7:23PM
Wait, it might come to the _____? Now I don't think it'll suck. (was that too obvious making fun of fanboi's?)
Meh @ Jul 11th 2009 4:31AM
Obvious and unfunny.
BrokenTriforce @ Jul 10th 2009 7:26PM
I think PC is the most likely candidate
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 10th 2009 7:27PM
Scribblenauts for the Wii or PS3 please!!!
Sly @ Jul 10th 2009 7:48PM
agreed
Longhorn of Myon [PSN: MariusElijah] @ Jul 10th 2009 7:31PM
All this hype is ruining the game
Santos L. Halper @ Jul 10th 2009 7:45PM
Then put a penny on the tracks.
Neptune @ Jul 11th 2009 6:32AM
No that doesn't work. Didn't you see the Mythbusters episode?
Santos L. Halper @ Jul 11th 2009 2:20PM
Well it worked when Bart Simpson did it.
Shadsy @ Jul 10th 2009 7:43PM
Come on DOS text adventure.

You go north. A starite perches precariously on the far edge of a lake of burning souls. What do you do?

Jeez.
Feba @ Jul 10th 2009 7:46PM
All four consoles (PS3, PS2, Wii, 360) support USB keyboards. Have an onscreen keyboard for people that want to use controllers, but recommend people use a USB keyboard; they're like $4 anyway. 16:9, clear and crisp Scribblenauts running off a USB keyboard? Do want.
DS? Meh.
t_m @ Jul 11th 2009 12:13AM
or, you know, a PC? Like the one you are tying on now. With a mouse and keyboard...
Feba @ Jul 11th 2009 6:37AM
Actually, I couldn't really care much less about PC gaming. I have a rather bottom-end laptop, which is obviously not conductive to games, and I run linux, which doesn't have a huge library anyway. Considering releasing it for PC would almost certainly be releasing it on some download service (like Steam) and on Windows, it would mean absolutely nothing to me.
