Tatsunoko vs. Capcom won't leave Wii, sales could spur sequel
Capcom has squashed the dreams of those hopeful its newest cross-over fighter, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, will come to PS3 and/or Xbox 360. Speaking to VideoGamer.com, the game's producer, Ryota Niitsuma, stated that the effort required to port the heavily Wii-optimized title would be considerable. "If we were to port it to PS3 or Xbox 360 we would have to make the game from scratch, and in that case we might as well just make a sequel of the series on those consoles rather than porting it," he told the site.
Not confirmation of a sequel, but a promising comment nonetheless. Niitsuma said that "we would like to see the reaction of the western market when we release the game on Wii," with regard to bringing the series to other platforms. Since Niitsuma wouldn't say it himself, we'll go ahead and do it for him: "Buy the first one if you want to see a sequel." See, that wasn't so hard.

thats fine considering how in both capcom vs snk 2, and marvel vs capcom 2 their previous versions became considerably obsolete.
ZaxCG2 @ Jul 11th 2009 2:01AM
Any crossover game's sequel makes the original considerably obsolete when you add three times the characters.
Rodrigo @ Jul 11th 2009 2:13AM
@ZaxCG2:
EXCEPT the Smash Bros. series :)
ZaxCG2 @ Jul 11th 2009 2:16AM
Goes without saying.
Tim @ Jul 11th 2009 2:02PM
Smash ain't fighting, since it hasn't STILL shown up in arcades!
Blank-Mage @ Jul 11th 2009 2:22PM
Nintendo has no need of your so-called "arcades."
MystileArmor @ Jul 11th 2009 12:07AM
Tatsunoko? Sounds like something on the menu of a Sushi bar.
Am I the only one who's never heard of it before the announcement of this game?
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 11th 2009 12:10AM
I never heard of the name of the company either but I am aware of their work....i think..
MystileArmor @ Jul 11th 2009 12:15AM

It's MADNESS!!!
MystileArmor @ Jul 11th 2009 12:21AM
That's hillarious. Even the most standard comments that weren't even trying to be funny were upvoted lol.
jimmygotsmack @ Jul 11th 2009 12:53AM
They made some really old Japanese cartoon about some speedy guy who likes racing again, with that one catchy song that went
Here he comes
Here comes Speed Racer
He's a demon on wheels
He's a demon and he's gonna be chasin' after someone.
He's gainin' on you so you better look alive.
He's busy revvin' up a powerful Mach 5.
And when the odds are against him
And there's dangerous work to do
You bet your life Speed Racer
Will see it through.
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer, Go!
He's off and flyin' as he guns the car around the track
He's jammin' down the pedal like he's never comin' back
Adventure's waitin' just ahead.
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer, Go!
I forget the name of the show though.
MystileArmor @ Jul 11th 2009 12:55AM
Could it be "Fast Guy In Car"
That must've been it.
Roto13 @ Jul 11th 2009 1:36AM
They made Samurai Pizza Cats. That's all you need to know.
ZaxCG2 @ Jul 11th 2009 1:59AM
No wait you guys are talking about "Legend of the Long Eyelash", right? I loved that movie!
Blank-Mage @ Jul 11th 2009 4:43AM
For the record, I upvote all pointless banter. Makes for good entertainment.
Wiizer (Michael Pachter MUST DIE.. Professionally) @ Jul 11th 2009 12:09AM
HAHA, now you ALL will have to buy the WAGGLE MACHINE!
... Who am I kidding?... It's so hard to stand up for the Wii.
CJLopez @ Jul 11th 2009 2:23PM
best part is, there's no waggle on this game
Wardo @ Jul 11th 2009 12:09AM
From what I've seen I can't wait to play this game. It's going to be fun picking those crazy Japanese characters and battling it out with friends.
Plus the graphics have really surprised me, I love the style.
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 11th 2009 12:11AM
Viewtful Joe better be there....

ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 11th 2009 1:40AM
Sweet, I couldn't remember if he was as I heard that either the arcade version or Wii version didn't have him.
BPMOmega [GT,Steam] @ Jul 11th 2009 1:54AM
He's a Wii-exclusive character. Henshin-a-bye-bye!
samfish (uses the Joystiq Comment-Kill filter!) @ Jul 11th 2009 11:50AM
Supposedly if you bring a Wiimote to the arcade and somehow pair it with the machine, you can unlock all the hidden characters from the Wii version at the arcade.
I remember reading that, but I've never seen pictures of it or anything, so I don't know how true that is.
CJLopez @ Jul 11th 2009 2:24PM
april fools joke samfish?? maybe??
Wiizer (Michael Pachter MUST DIE.. Professionally) @ Jul 11th 2009 3:28PM
@ samfish
LOL, that's absolutely false. We have an arcade here that has Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom. It's not possible.
Engerz @ Jul 11th 2009 12:21AM
They gave us the honor of adding online, so yes! And then -- oh right, friend codes. ASKLDHIOFHASGAH.
Still, can't wait to pick it up!
Foetoid @ Jul 11th 2009 3:25AM
You only have to worry about friend codes if they use Nintendo servers. Most new multiplayer games have skipped them.
Mr Khan @ Jul 11th 2009 11:10AM
Really? The vast majority of Wii games wind up using WiFi Connection, only because it comes at almost no cost to the publisher. Only EA uses their own servers on Wii.
Capcom actually does too, but only for Monster Hunter.
VicViper @ Jul 11th 2009 12:21AM
I just hope there's a PS2/PS3 to Wii adaptor for my Arcade stick.
No way I want to play this on anything less...
superberg @ Jul 11th 2009 1:29AM
Hori made a nice Arcade Stick for the Wii. It plugs into the Wiimote and everything.
BPMOmega [GT,Steam] @ Jul 11th 2009 1:55AM
Yeah, I have two of them. :P
GGAC+, KOF Collection, SamSho Collection, and now this... I'm getting my fighting stick's worth!
Mr Khan @ Jul 11th 2009 11:09AM
There is some sort of PS2/Wii controls adapter. Japan-only for now, but probably the sort of thing you could import if you wanted it bad enough
VicViper @ Jul 11th 2009 11:53AM
Thanks for your input guys, but I actually have the 360 version of that Hori, and while it's okay, it's definitely not Sanwa Arcade parts quality. I'm not also not crazy about the buttons comparatively on the Hori, but to each his own.
And there's no way I want to invest in more arcade sticks at this point. Sorry to Wii owners (and I am one), but I think Capcom is putting this out on the wrong system.
McWilly @ Jul 12th 2009 12:05PM
Get real. Capcom realeased the game on the wrong system because you think it's up to them to give you a PS2/PS3 to wii adapter??..... :B

You can send in your shit through the "send us tips" button on the top right.
And who cares about a non-mentioned game at the end of the year anyways? Could be fucking anything, who cares?
I got news for you: Someone you might or might not know, will possibly die by the end of the next decade.
ArchiGamer [thephilosophyofgames.wordpress.com] @ Jul 11th 2009 12:38AM
I find your info....meh.
Blank-Mage @ Jul 11th 2009 4:46AM
"I got news for you: Someone you might or might not know, will possibly die by the end of the next decade."
Kinda like that episode of the Twilight Zone, only you don't get an obscene amount of money at the end of it.
Kill a mans jiro @ Jul 11th 2009 9:21AM
@MystileArmor
Wow, talk about a personal hit, i used to send the tips in there but they went un-noticed like the LBP beta one somone posted in comments and they got credited, i only posted incase no one knew, NOT TO DRAW ATTENTION, so calm the fuck down lol.
I dont give a shit what it is either. Just trying to let joystiq know. I figured as much, of course i would get downvoted about a topic like that, If it was the other way arround though.......
But as i said, i dont care for it too much any ways, i got both consoles, its just a rumour and so i would not miss out either way.....Cock
MystileArmor @ Jul 11th 2009 11:06AM
Whatever makes you feel better about being a dumbfuck, dude.
freaparn @ Jul 11th 2009 11:27AM
"I got news for you: Someone you might or might not know, will possibly die by the end of the next decade."
Careful now, that was considered TEH SPOILARZ!!! in the Mass Effect 2 thread.
Kill a mans jiro @ Jul 11th 2009 12:48PM
lol, whatever MystileArmor.....People like u make me laugh, you dont even know me.
Fun DMC @ Jul 11th 2009 1:46PM
Mystile, as stupid as he was for simply posting that instead of sending it in
well, uh, dude, you've been a real prick lately and you need to chill
srsly
Jack Hollow @ Jul 11th 2009 12:43AM
I got to see this in action at Anime Expo this past Sunday. Let me tell you, it looks fucking fantastic. And from the feedback around the Capcom booth, it didn't sound like anyone had any complaints. Everyone was playing with classic controllers and arcade sticks. So it's not a waggle only affair.
sony boy @ Jul 11th 2009 12:51AM
so??we marvel, bitches!!!
jimmygotsmack @ Jul 11th 2009 1:10AM
It was the best fighter of 2000.
Roto13 @ Jul 11th 2009 1:41AM
That's like saying "so??we soul calibur, bitches!!!" which is still an abortion of a sentence.
Blank-Mage @ Jul 11th 2009 4:47AM
I get the feeling sony boy isn't too concerned about it, Roto.
