Worms launch assault on App Store, available for five bucks
If your appetite for caecilian destruction hasn't been satiated by the recently released Worms 2: Armageddon, you'll be pleased to know that you can now get your fill on the go with the even more recently released Worms app for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
For $4.99, it sounds like a nice little package. There's four-team multiplayer, unlockable items and over 50 challenges for the lone wolves among us to explore. Best of all, you can still customize your team names -- just keep it classy, folks. Your Weather app is watching.

This kinda looks/sounds like Worms for the PSN/XBLA.
And it costs less than half, I feel so sad! :'(

Any reviews out yet? I wonder how the game controls.

I'm so sick of the Worms team releasing the same game for the last ten years. I'd love some new ideas.

They already tried 3D worms games multiple times and they all sucked.
Bootes @ Jul 12th 2009 4:08PM
Exactly, I don't want new stuff, the new stuff ruined the game. I want the old game that looks prettier and can be played on new hardware, which is exactly what they're finally doing.

well don´t complain too loud man, remember the last time team 17 tried something new?? it was called leisure suit larry box office bust..........so maybe it´s better to let them be trapped in their worms time warp.

First of all, Worms 3D was actually a really good game once you got the hang of it, it just doesn't take the place of the classic, that's all. Second, when they changed the classic and made that space themed one on the Wii, it kinda blew.
The best they can do for Worms is refine and repackage, an release it on as many platforms as possible.
I do think they could try something new though. It doesn't have to be Worms.

There have been a decent amount of posts about games for the iPhone/iPod touch, maybe it's about time to make a tab up on the top to dedicate to this niche market.

After the ever dead body of Yeti-like PC tab.

Oh yeah, Joystiq hates greater-than/less-than symbols. Now my post is entirely unfunny.
