VentureBeat got the scoop on the Xbox 360/PS3 game, which it believes is connected to the film coming June 17, 2011. ... Wait, is this the first Green Lantern game? That can't be right, can it?

To be fair, yellow doesn't affect Green Lanterns anymore. At least on veterans, it still does impair rookies. I believe it was retconned in the Sinestro Corp Wars

He's not going to be doing Deadpool at the same time as this. Deadpool isn't even going anywhere yet. Green Lantern has a script, star, director, and actual dates for production and release.

Personally, I could care less about the movie since it's going to be a secret origins tale when they should jump headlong into one about the Sinestro Corps. War.

There is a black Green Lantern, John Stewart, but he's just one of the five or so Earth Green Lanterns. There's also Hal Jordan, Alan Scott(who isn't apart of the GL corps), Kyle Rayner, and Guy Gardner. The movie will focus on Hal Jordan, the more famous of the Earth Green Lanterns also known for going insane, killing the entire Green Lantern Corp, and destroying an entire city, only to be destroyed by hurling himself into the sun and being resurrected several years later.
This will be the first game based solely on the Green Lantern, but I can't say I'll be at all excited. Games based on movies are more often then not bad, and the company seem relatively new with one game I had no interest in, and another that'll probably be crap considering it's source material.

@Manly Mcbeefington (Mr. ESC): Kyle Rayner is Mexican. There are alternate universe Green Lanterns who are Asian. I don't know of any Jewish Green Lanterns, but there are only like 5 in the main continuity.

@Mr Khan: Kyle Rayner became Ion after he absorbed the GL power from the sun. He used the powers he had as Ion to repower the power battery which brought the corps back and create a new set of guardians. The corp are back, as is Hal Jordan.

They should have used John Stewart as the green latern....I don't think it would kill us to have one mainstream superhero black kids could dress up for during halloween.... but that's just my opinion. not being racist. I respect the original vision of the comic writiers, but that was a completely different time with completely different attitudes. I just think if there is a chance to kinda update things while keepin with the original vision they should do it. Guess they felt otherwise.

I'm so sick of Samuel L Jackson. Hes a self centered prick in real life, desperate to be in as many movies as possible as fast as possible that he has no time to pick up any actual acting skill. He has the exact same voice tone/mannerisms/attitude/facial expressions in every single movie hes done in the past decade.
You want to know why he had a purple lightsaber in the star wars flicks? He refused to do the movie without getting one so that "people would be able to pick him out of the crowd in the fight scenes."

Ok, I'm really not that great with comic books. Green Lantern is a "Golden Age" DC hero who worked with Superman in Justice League. Green Hornet was with Bruce Lee, and Seth Rogan wrote and is acting in an upcoming film version. What's the Green Arrow?

Green Lantern is a DC Comics character. Green Arrow is also a DC character, but that's pretty much where their similarities end.

GL is actually a Silver Age character, well the original Green Lantern was Golden Age, but he bears little similarity (at least before all those Crisis') and even less popularity as the much more widely recognized Hal Jordan. Green Arrow is a Golden Age DC character who, well, he shoots arrows that sometimes have stuff on them ranging from explosives to saws to boxing gloves

I'd be excited about this game, but considering the scope of Green Lantern's powers I'd feel a bit cheated. There's so much a GL can do and there's no way you could fit it into a game.
