I actually think it's kind of strange people are still upset over this. It was known months before the game was released that the PS3 version would not be getting DLC, so people knew full well what they were getting when they bought the game. And now Incidentally that DLC is no longer exclusive, and is finally coming to the PS3 (and likely with bug fixes, hopefully? that the PC and 360 version suffered from).

However I will not be surprised if the DLC doesn't sell well, since it is true most people have probably moved on past Fallout 3 by now.

Does this mean the PS3 GOTY version will be delayed too?

The main concern I have seen is that Bethesda had made repeated statements that the DLC would NOT be coming to the PS3. The statements seemed to imply that the DLC would *never* come, and therefore many people sold or traded in their game after they were finished. Now, almost a year later, the DLC is announced and set to release in a few months. I would definitely not want to have to buy a game twice (and I would refuse to) because I was lied to when I bought it the first time about future DLC support.

Secondly, as you point out, many people have moved on. And the time the DLC is released, we will see many other titles coming out like Uncharted 2. This will definitely eat into the DLC sales.

Ultimately, I think the resentment from the PS3 community is justified. The DLC situation was poorly handled by Bethesda, and their reputation may be permanently tarnished in the eyes of many PS3 users. If the DLC fails miserably, they have no one to blame but themselves.

From an business standpoint, it never made any sense to make the DLC exclusive to the 360. Unless it was really that painful for them to code it for the ps3. Not really sure how bad it is since I've never done any commercial coding.

So I kinda of expected that it would eventually come (since Bethesda ported Shivering Isles to the ps3 for Oblivion), but I just didn't know the when. It still doesn't appear to be a fast and efficient conversion process, but I'm glad I didn't cave into to supporting Microsoft and buying that version.

@kentuckyfried

I'm also glad that I stuck with the PS3 version but, if Bethesda pulls this crap again, they won't get another dime from me.

Honestly, I prefer the Valve approach; only release games on the single console they can fully support. I'd prefer to be ignored than deliberately screwed.

No one has a problem with bethesda releasing a new piece of DLC every 3 months? This is just going to encourage others to do the same. I would much rather see an improved game, or a sequal. I refuse to buy any of it.

the dlc was never really going to be "exclusive" since with the amount of money these games generate it simply wouldn't be practical, these days the truth is that all "exclusive" really means for dlc is delayed

This is awesome, I didn't expect them to make Ps3 DLCs because Bethesda would expect to lose money or some crap like that so even with the delay this is AWESOME haha it will be great to finally get the cap raised and not have to stop playing after Project purity (hehe Fawkes ROCKS!)
