Modern Warfare 2: Prestige Edition includes working night vision goggles, original Call of Duty for PSN/XBLA [update]
255
What on Earth? Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling has made a YouTube video of himself unboxing the absolutely epic "prestige edition" of Modern Warfare 2 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. When we say "epic," we're talking "it includes working night vision goggles" epic. Also in the box is a voucher code for downloading the previously rumored PSN/XBLA version of the original Call of Duty. This plus a steel game case, art book and a custom molded plastic head for displaying your working night vision goggles on. (But of course!)
There's no mention of a retail price for the set, but we can't imagine it'll be anything less than stupid crazy expensive. The whole bundle is getting a suggested retail price of $149.99, a full $20 bump up from the $129.99 we dropped to give our cat a helmet two years ago. We're also working to find out if and when Activision intends to distribute the downloadable remake of the CoD that started it all. Check out the unboxing after the break -- but only after ensuring that your socks are safely and securely pinned to your pants.

Everyone seems to be one upping each other with these special edition packages... seriously... though I see the obvious relation between the item and the game, it seems completely out of place to package functional NVGs with a video game, but with that said, I hope that the next MGS comes with an actual handgun or better yet, the stealth suit.... sweeeeeeet.

Night vision toy goggles on Amazon are about 75 bucks, so I'd say they are gonna charge about 150.00 for it. Maybe 200

If it is under $500 then it's going to be the crappiest 1st gen NVG's ever imagined

Plastic goggles with LEDs around the "lens" doesn't make them a pair of night vision goggles.

Just so you know, there is no difference whatsoever between consumer-level and military-issued NVDs. Hell, the tech in kid's NVG toys is the same as the military ones.

I concur, these are definetly not military grade NVGs.

Ok to clear this all up, these are either generation 0 NVG's or more likely the DIY webcam with no IR filter + IR LED's method.
@Fullmetal Salchemist
Now you say and military NVG's are the same as consumer even the kids ones. That is sorta true, assuming the kids toys use Gen 0 ones... As for consumer stuff, you can buy all 5 generations of NVG's but each generation cost much more while offering much more performance. Gen 0 20-100$, Gen 1 150-500$, Gen 2 2000-5000+$, Gen 3 5000-15000+$ and only saw a 45000$ Gen 4 should be cheaper ones however. These are general prices on binoculars, they can vary alot depending what they do. Also note some countries do have laws on what people can own... Also most cheap ones people get just dont compare to the Gen3+ ones I get to use.

Dude you have no idea what your talking about.
Being a SOF vet, I can tell you for a fact there is a difference between civilian NVGs and military NVGs.
It's not that the tech is classified or anything it's just that for the price of modern gen military grade NVGs there isn't a consumer market for it.
My brother has the pair from Amazon and having used to the latest version of military nods, I can tell you there is a MAJOR difference.
Hell there is a major difference between the nods we used in 2001 to the nods being used today.
