Guitar Hero 5 already has one of the two things I want, this being a Beastie Boys song in it.
NOW, it just needs less generic shitty characters.

Yeah. I think it's because it's placed below while GH3 has the 3 to the right and RB2 has the 2 to the right.

In the actual game titles too! :P

You mean Jukebox mode? That was supposed to be in RB2 but was dropped for some reason.

Looks cool. I'm glad to see they are actually trying new things with what looks like to be a maxed out guitar genre (between Rock Band and this).

Then again,99% of the people will take a shit on it just because it has Guitar Hero on the box,not because it's a bad game or the song list sucks. It'll weed out the actual gamers and the snobs.

What about poor people and/or people who are happy with RB1/2?

Is it just me, or has Activision completely given up on trying to effectively brand Guitar Hero any more? I guess when you gotta come up with a new look to a product every 4 months you eventually just say "fine, I'll put brown stars in there. ya happy?"

Also, anybody notice that asterisk in "...Or any instrument* you choose"? Besides the obvious - that you can't just drag your brother's french horn in and hook it up - would this mean you can't actually do Guitar Hero Barbershop Quartet? Or Bass Hero?

hehe... bass hero... your brother's french horn...

Activision doesn't NEED to brand Guitar Hero effectively anymore. The heavy lifting of establishing the brand in consumers' minds was done by the Harmonix-developed GH1 and GH2. Now that the brand is established, all the average consumer needs to do is walk into a store and ask for "that guitar game" and chances are good they'll be directed to a GH game.

Hence Activision's milking.

I'm definitely more of a Rock Band guy, but I'm addicted to the fake music band games. So I'd buy this no matter what.

The one nice thing about Activision flooding the market with GH? This will be under $40 in a couple of months after release! And by the time this comes out, Metallica and Smash Hits will both be under $30. And the new "slightly different" guitar will make the current crop of GH:WT guitars go on clearance constantly.

So flooding the market is slightly good for the patient consumer. 8)

Also, I find it funny how Activision stated that they wanted to stop using just numbers at the end of games, so consumers wouldn't realize they're buying the same game so often... Yet they flip right back to 5 for the new Guitar Hero, instead of going with World Tour 2.

If the achievement list is anything to go by you can also use your avatar in game, if you're into that sort of thing.

World tour was terrible but this game actually looks pretty good.

I still think GH3 is the best game of it's genre, I must of put more hours into that than I have RB, RB2, RB:ACDC, GH2, GH:WT and GH:M put together. FLAME ON.
