This Wednesday: Monkey Island and MadBalls hit XBLA

Technically, that second one is actually Madballs in Babo Invasion. Lest you've already forgotten the game (and perhaps its spheroid protagonists), it's a top-down shooter supporting up to 16 players. Oh, and it has MadBalls in it. Remember those? You'll have to roll out 800

($10) for the full game.

Meanwhile, players can also return to Melee Island™ and relive the LucasArts classic in The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition. The remake of the point-and-click sports newly redrawn, high definition graphics and new spoken dialogue to boot. If you'd rather play it old-school, the original, pixelicious graphics are also available. It will set you back 800

($10 / 478 Pieces of Eight).

Have to feel bad for Madballs going up against the Monkey Island remake for 800 points.

Really? I don't, madballs looks awful and it's exploiting one of the more forgettable franchises from my childhood. I won't loose any sleep if it fails.

This was my thought... I remember these things from the 80s.. and they were stupid back then...

Tell me someone talented couldn't make an awesome M.A.S.K. game.

I'll be honest, I was trying to think of the name of those monster puppets that came in the fake cage boxes, remember those? They were AWESOME, but I couldn't think of the name so I went with M.A.S.K. and yes a kickass game could be made from that.

I only ever had the black SUV mask car, but I always wanted the other ones.... damn, the 80's were a good time to be a kid.

I had the M.A.S.K. Gas Station set. It had machine guns that came out of the "GAS" sign and a machine gun turret came out of the top of the mountain (as a boulder rolled down it). That thing was awesome.

Also, a Dino Riders game would be most welcomed.

I had the semi-truck and my brother had the red camaro with the gull wing doors with guns in them. It was awesome!

Yeah, I had the Semi and the Gas Station too, but I always wanted that helicopter that turned into a jet. That thing was bad-to-the-ass.

Can some one explain how Monkey Island a point and click game controls on 360 ??

Do you plug in a Mouse or sync up a Wiimote ??

I'm guessing... and I'm going far out on a limb here, but I'm guessing that they've got a control scheme designed around regular controllers. Check out Sam & Max Season 1, Wallace and Gromit episode 1 (both on XBLA, and possibly on PSN? I can't keep straight what telltale games are on which console), or the gaggle of adventure games that came out on last gen consoles for reference/examples.

Don't listen to AoE. You were right when you assumed you might have to sync up a Wiimote.

Wow...Madballs? They weren't relevant when they came out in 1984, what makes anyone think that people will buy this POS on the nostalgia factor? The 5 losers who bought 1 in 1985?

The Madballs tie-in is pretty much meaningless to me, since I'd never even heard of them. (Don't even know if they were released in the UK.) But it would be a pity if it affects the popularity of the game, cos I downloaded it yesterday and it kicks arse. (Or 'ass', if you prefer.)
