Ok, look. If you like UFC or not, its pretty easy to see what's going on here.
EA likes to make money.
They turned down Dana White before, because they didn't see any money in it.
Now there is.
This isn't that complicated.

No smart fighter will sign with EA if they want to continue fighting at the top of the level in MMA. I dont even see retired fighters since UFC does DVD's and I'm sure they get a piece of the DVD sales. To give all that up for a quick 100k or less. Thats about how much NFL retired people get to be in Madden. I think OJ Simpson got like 200 or 300k to be in the 2k football game. Not worth it in the long haul to get black balled by the biggest company in MMA right now.

This is why big fighters like Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture (at one point) are leaving UFC. They can't stand Dana White. He is an absolute control freak and this story shows the level of it. He doesn't want ANYONE going up his death grip on MMA. He wouldn't let a professional athlete compete in his company because they appeared in another VIDEO GAME?

You know how Vince McMahon from the WWE is on camera? That's how Dana White is in reality.

You don't know what your talking about.

Randy left the UFC because they couldn't get Fedor signed and he really wanted to fight Fedor. He also was upset that he wasn't the highest paid fighter in the UFC - despite getting paid for the contract HE signed. Guess what? Randy is now back with the UFC.

Tito is and always has been a douche. He demanded a contract that would of put him in the top 5 fighters in the UFC. This was AFTER he lost 3 fights in a row and hadn't won a fight in nearly 2 years. He then left to pursue acting and play by play announcing with Affliction (which he failed at horribly).

If you can't understand Dana White's defensiveness then you have absolutely ZERO knowledge on the history of the UFC and MMA general.

You guys saying Dana White is trying to monopolize MMA against EA...ummm....how about a little title called "Madden"?

EA did it to 2K with football, karma is a bitch EA.

I think Dana is full of shit in this instance.

So, if Fedor signs onto be in the EA MMA game are you telling me Dana will blacklist him? Hello no.

Dana is just trying to monopolize every aspect of MMA from merchandising to video games to the sport itself.

The great thing is most of these guys have plenty of other shows to make a good living in without the UFC or WEC. So, who really gives a shit? Go fight in Dream, Sengoku, Strikeforce, Bellatore and the numerous others of legitimate MMA organizations.

I don't really blame Dana for playing his card, either. But, this is little more than an empty threat meant to scare everyone from appearing in the game.

I would like another MMA games (maybe one that isn't broken) but what I really want is a K-1 game. Make it happen EA.

RIP Air McNair PSN: johnnynumber5

I'm an avid MMA fan and not just a UFC fan but be real. The level of fighters in Dream, Sengoku, Strikforce and on and on don't compare to the UFC. A fact proven by fighters from those orgs primarily getting dominated when crossing over to the UFC. Dream is probably my second favorite promotion but the UFC is still light years ahead. Affliction is a joke IMO. Strikeforce on CBS was a total failure. I don't know of any MMA fan who would be happy with JUST the promotions you mentioned and not having the UFC around. Every US promotion is a result of the UFC's success anyways.

What do you expect from Dana White? I'll admit his personality isn't for everyone. But here's something a lot of people miss. The Fertitas are arguably some of the smartest minds when it comes to the show business. With that said, who has been their choice to run the UFC? It's been Dana White. While his personality rubs people the wrong way, MMA wouldn't be where it is without him. The fact that the Fetitas chose him speaks volumes.

The other thing a lot of people don't know. Check out the UG or underground forums. DW gives out locker room bonuses that are un-disclosed. It's just his way of taking caare of his fighters. Sure there are examples where you question his loyalty to his fighters. Take Tim Silva wanting to come back and Dana telling him he'd have to go through TUF to get back in. Dana just values loyalty more than most people and it's a trait I admire.

Show loyalty to him and the UFC and he'll make you a star and do everything he can to take care of you. But cross him and well you'll have to live with that decision.

As far as him not letting fighters appear in an EA game. How would you feel if you approached EA to make a UFC game and they turned you down and now that the UFC game has shown there is a market for it, they all the sudden want to use your fighters but not your name? If no one gives a shit like you alluded to, then I'm sure fans will be just as happy playing as fighters from the other promotions you mentioned....

I'm hardly a fan but I do appreciate the *sport*.
The way I see it is it's a fighting competition with rules as close to 'anything goes' as possible.
The fact it's mixed means that generally through the most effective fighting style comes out on top. In a real fight between trained and hardened individuals it will almost always end up with grappling, which, if you took the time to try and understand, you can see what the fighter's are trying to do and therefore appreciate it much more.

It's just fun to see all out fighting as opposed to fighters who are stunted in their potential by the rules of their sport i.e. boxing not allowing kicking.

It used to be truly anything goes, but was too gory to get a TV deal so Dana toned it down.

The best style for use within the required handcuffs to prevent fatalities and major injuries. Which, I fully believe is a good thing, but also really doesn't do anything to prove which style is the best - just which style is the best at UFC rules.

I don't see what the big deal is, could you imagine WWE wrestler sighning to fight in a TNA game or 2K getiing exclusive NFL rights over EA, my point is they would all be very mad and upset.

Screw EA they had they chance with MMA and UFC fighters and they said no, so UFC does it on their own and now EA wan't a piece of the cake. I hate EA.

Anyone who says MMA isn't a sport is just trolling it's slap in the faces of the athletes who train and the fans who watch it.

Dana has put a lot of hard work into the UFC to legitimise MMA and it has come along way. By no means is the UFC perfect Dana can be overly vulgar and some of the fighters act like tools but which sport doen't have bad eggs.

Only EA can make NFL games UFC just made a great MMA game and wants all employed fightwes exclusive to their game, sorry but as far the gaming industry goes EA is the greater evil.

I don't really care who's in the right or wrong here, all I know is I'd give several months salary and possibly a testicle to see some UFC fighter beat several shades out of John Riccitiello.

Somebody call me if that's likely to happen.

Translation: EA ripped on MMA, like most people STILL DO TO THIS DAY, even though it's the worlds fastest growing sport and thus deserves respect, and now EA wants a slice of the MMA pie after UFC undisputed got mad sales.

FUCK EA. Kick his ass, Dana.
