Activision confirms delay of Wolfenstein to 'week beginning August 17'

Joystiq received official word from Activision this afternoon that, corroborating recent retailer listings, the upcoming Raven Software-developed Wolfenstein reboot is being pushed back to "the week beginning August 17." Earlier today, Shacknews discovered listings on GameStop and Amazon's websites proposing a two week delay, with the game presumably arriving on store shelves August 18. According to Activision, the new release date is "to facilitate a simultaneous global release window" -- we're hoping that's all a ruse and Raven's actually sneaking in Wolfenstein 3D's amazing final boss.
The good news? The game still features a horde of Nazis, lining up to meet their fate at the business end of your peacemaker. The bad news? It's also still a fairly generic shooter set in World War II (albeit an alternate reality version). With any luck, a demo for the game will be hitting Xbox Live and PlayStation Network just before the game's release and you can find out for yourself just how much (or how little) you need to get your feet into B.J. Blazkowicz's shoes.

FUCK....Quakecon is 13-16th, I know many, myself included, were ready to break this game in there.

I can't decide if the WWII genre has gone stale, or if I desperately need to pick this up for nostalgia's sake.
Maybe I'll just ignore the setting and our history and pick it based on whether or not it's a good game. Imagine that.

Kinda thinkin that myself.. 'the war' has been over how long now.. 60's year.. I'm 27 and the war means nothing to me, my grandad only did the training, never saw the field.. and the US were barely in it.. by the time they turned up in Berlin the Russains had it over with. US got a mop..
I guess there hasn't been a big war since with largely milatarised sides.
maybe a military vs guerilla wargame needs to happen.. adds a degree of stealth to one side, lose points for killing civilians and friendly fire, so the military side can't just carpet bomb... just need suitable sides, nothing too touchy, like Fallujah..
We need something more than run-shoot-kill-repeat

oh ffs i am so sick of hearing this "Russia did it themselves" bullshit. Go read a history book, if you think American ones are biased read one from England then.
More on topic i still very much enjoy WWII games, however fake it is i get much more false pride fighting in historical battles than another fake middle eastern war

Wolfenstein Tide of war on the original Xbox was by far the best squad based that the XBL had. I cant wait for this game if they have done multiplayer correctly this game will be awsome.

One side of me wants to check out this game while the other part of me feels rather jaded to shooters and world war 2 games. They lost their flair and no longer hold the thrill they once did. However I still wouldn't mind blasting a few dozen robotic, cyborg, zombie, nazi's.
Who couldn't have fun with that, oh and lets not forget Mecha-Hitler he is always a blast to kill.

Ok, this has nothing to do with the game in topic, but what do you guys think about this one? Clank looks badass as Ironman and Ratchet looks pretty tight as Wolverine in the comic strip?!!...What do you think about the art work? By the way, is anyone going to comic con this year?!?!?
