A new development in the never-ending saga that is Duke Nukem Forever -- or, as we like to call it, Duke Nukem The Ever ... Living! -- has now revealed itself on Facebook. Specifically, Duke Nukem's Facebook page -- we totally friended him -- has been posting screenshots that appear to be from the ill-fated Duke Nukem Forever. As Big Download notes, the shots focus on one giant boss monster stalking what looks like Hoover Dam. We also get a nice render of one of the series floating squid-monster-things and another cybernetic monstrosity.
For its part, 3D Realms claims that work on Duke Nukem Forever continues, despite the ongoing legal battle surrounding it. For our part, we can only marvel that we're now seeing more of Duke Nukem Forever after its death than we ever saw during its development.

Dude, this was considered the pinnacle of video game graphics five years ago:

It's certainly more like Gears of War or Episode 2 if you really need to graphic whore.

I was just going to post a comment saying "how could people be complaining about the graphics?"
Seriously dude, they aren't Crysis or Killzone 2, but the game looks as good as any Unreal Engine 3 game... and UE3 engine games are still coming out by the zillions.

I think that's the EXACT same thought that went through the heads of the suits who pulled the plug on this.

I hate UE3 games Levi, unless they're really edited heavily like Mass Effect or Bioshock or Mirror's Edge. Im not really a graphics whore, a game can have mediocre graphics as long as the gameplay as good. But FFS, with development as long as this i really do expect Crysis level stuff

Mirror's Edge wasn't heavily edited... It looks like stock UE3 with bland textures. I still thought it looked good though, aside from the lack of AA on the PS3 version.
I certainly can't back them up and say that what they've shown us is a justification for 12 years of development. I just think saying it looks worse than games from 4 years ago is a bit extreme, when it looks just as good as most of the UE3 games that have come out in the last year or so.

maybe 4 years is a little extreme, maybe 2 years, imo it doesnt looks as good as this or last year stuff, but even if it did if it's anything like that other 13 year game the gameplay probabbly wouldnt have made up for it

Ugh, 13 more years of Duke Nukem. Can't we let the old dog die in peace?

He died a long time ago. After 13 years Duke's just a corpse dragged through the mud. Or he's just been dead to me, seeing as there's been no real Duke Nukem game released since when I was 3 years old. >_>

At this point anything with DNF is just trying to get press to help the game along for another 13 years without releasing anything but a token screen shot every 10 years

Another shame about the game after its years of development is that it never got its own identifiable visual look. After 13 years it looked like every other Unreal Engine game out there. I could look at that screen shot for days and I would not guess it was a Duke Nukem game. Creative art direction is sadly overlooked these days.
Someone give the guy who thought of the visual design for Team Fortress 2 another raise just for this screenshot.
