King of Fighters XII uppercuts retail July 28
33
The official Twitter account for King of Fighters XII has revealed the final date for retail release: July 28. KOFXII features 22 characters to choose from and the series' tried-and-true, three-on-three gameplay. The game does bring some new gameplay elements to the table, though, such as air guards and guard attacks; so it's not just the same old King of Fighters in HD. Not that that would totally be a bad thing ...

So soon?! Awesome. I'll definitely be picking this up. Between this, BlazBlue, Street Fighter IV and MVC2, it's an awesome year for fighting game fans.

Agreed! I need to go ahead and pick up SFIV...love me some fighting games; I've been away from them for far too long. SNK will always be my all-time favorite Fighting Game House.

Sorry Vexx. I didn't pay attention to previous release dates so I didn't know it had been delayed so many times. That does suck.
I also wanted to add to my list Tasunoko vs. Capcom. That game looks sweet also.

Why? Because we aren't shouting obscenities at each other and exchanging downvotes? The internet doesn't have to buy that way I tell you!

wait so this game can utilize 6 controllers?

No, it's one on one. But instead of playing the same character in each round, you choose a team of three characters; when one is knocked out, you move on to the next.

SEGA ruins franchises one by one. They took care of NiGHTS. Sonic's on his way out. I imagine JSR isn't too far behind....

There was a JSR for the Wii :o sounds good but if you think about it would probably be messed up with controls anyway.

That's well too pessimistic. A new JSR would have been the perfect fit for the Wiimote. Use the IR to create your graf, use the IR to tag, waggle once you run out of ink, control your character...
The Wii is the only place where a game like JSR could survive. Having said that, the rumoured JSR was being developed by Headstrong Games - House of the Dead: Overkill - so, I feel, that something special the original two had might have been lost in translation. Nothing against Headstrong, but they're no Smilebit.

The only reason this isn't a hard wait is:
- SNKP always takes time to release their games!
- Gives time to enjoy Garou, 98UM, and Blazblue before the release!
I love the art in this game. For example, the backgrounds are so awesome! A few friends and I were laughing at how disinterested the people in BB's backgrounds are... they're looking at stars, and random moving HUGE GEARS in the background... while Ogerish men with mechanical arms, women with sentient staffs, and guys with soul-sucking swords are fighting and screaming constantly. In KoF, each stage reacts differently to your round beginings and/or victories, wheither it's with flames kicking up, whales jumping in the background, or a gong going off upon each rounds start.
Couple that with the fact that KoF matches feel (at least, to me) much better paced, and more directly intense, and you have a fighter that's like the perfect balance between the best of Street Fighter (strategic gameplay, a thoughtful pace), and BB (Always a threat of huge damage, but much more rushdown oriented than SF).
Now they just have to get the netcode right. If it's as good as SFIV, it'll be nice. If it's as solid as BB's, then I'll have a hard time pulling away from the game for anythig else gaming related for a good while... (Summer of Arcade? Wha? (O.o) )
